    This seens to be a review from someone who hasn´t read the book and don´t understand Garcia Marquez´s narrative.

    If it doesn't make sense to you, it's because Colombia's history doesn't make sense. The violence it's just as it was in reallity

    I don’t agree with the review at all. I read the book but also my family is from the coastal part of Ecuador, where we share a lot with the coastal part of Colombia. This book clearly reflects an historical part of the region and it’s character and I think the tv show did as well. The adaptation will never be a 100% accurate because the magic of the book is that everyone builds an idea of Macondo individually. Though I feel was really good as it respected the book and respected the culture that is part of the book.

    Its very interesting you didnt like the show for the fact its jumped everywhere but the book was purposely written this for the "magical realism" style marquez is known for. His sons (who executive produced) did a excellent job staying true to that theme.
    It feels drawn out because of marquez showing is showing us the family dynamics and how history repeats itself within the family. This isnt a fast paced journey.

    You can always tell when a review of an adaptation, like this one, is completely ignorant of the source material.

    You missed it on this review. If you read the book or at least a summary and inform yourself about the history of Colombia you'll better understand and appreciate the show. The story is an allegorical representation of Colombia history reflecting the political & social struggles of the people.

    "this looks familiar... OF COURSE! It's based on the book!!!!!" no shit Sherlock. "I'm sure those of you who have read either book will rightfully and understandably come to the conclusion that the adaptations including this new one just don't do the original material justice..." Now, that's something. This show is an extremely well done adaptation and very truthful of the source material. I do know just by that statement, that you are totally ignorant of the source material. It's incredible that you find this show "convoluted", ignoring the fact that THE BOOK is convoluted and "roams all over the place". In the end, are you criticizing the netflix show or Gabriel Garcia Márquez original works?

    Rama, your lack of awareness is astonishing. This novel and its author are celebrated worldwide, while you remain an obscure figure offering a brash and uninformed critique. Perhaps you should stick to watching the last Marvel movies, they seem to align better with the limits of your intellectual capacity.

      The irony and lack of self awareness of this comment is the best laugh I’ve had all week. Is that all the ad hominems you can muster? Only one vague appeal to authority? I’m sure you’ve got more fallacies you’re willing to stumble down on this oddly ego-invested stairwell you’ve plunged

    • @williampinilla7999
      @williampinilla7999 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@consumerextraordinaire8209 Of course, I could drop a few more fallacies or “appeals to authority,” but I’d rather let the book’s enduring legacy speak for itself. You know, that little detail about how it’s still studied, admired, and loved by readers across generations worldwide? Funny how true masterpieces have a way of outlasting hot takes.

      @@williampinilla7999 Ah, doubling down and dropping the ol' true scotsman fallacy! Just because a book’s endured for generations doesn’t mean it’s beyond critique. Popularity doesn't imply intrinsic merit. Relying on legacy alone can be lazy-real engagement challenges established narratives, rather than accepting them uncritically. How many masterpieces have we never heard about because they didn't win popularity contests in their time? It's all good though, I'm glad you stormed the comments section in order to let this eloquently veiled incest smut "speak for itself"

      @@JohnDoe-cd6ro Just finished it now - I think the adaptation is great. All the "weirdness" is from the book, so I'm very happy to see it adapted as it is :) I really dont see it being adapted in any other manner... and part one ends at a great climax too. Very excited for part 2.

      the principal diference its the timeline, in the serie is linear, the novel its a little bit circular, very good decision to adapt the novel to the screen....its very faithful to the novel, not a 100 % but 80 to 90 %, at least this 8 first chapters....if you dont want to read the book, this is the perfect way to know the history of MACONDO the city of magic realism....

    Never read the source material and don’t care to. Maybe the source has value for it’s poetic style but is ultimately an absurdist soap opera about a bunch of aholes doing f’d up shi.
