this bike is design 設計 for cold weather Europe 、so it is not good for hot temperature and traffic and also look and take care about engine temperature while riding in Japan or hot country 気をつけ下さい。
SOME of us users here "Retrofit" our RnineT Oil-cooler with 2pcs of aftermarket Radiator Fan, it helps a lot during super heavy stop&go traffic so no need to shut engine down. it keeps oil temperature stable... saying Hi from Philippines! :)
Have mine for since 2017, its an awesome machine , but it does have its character. Btw am from Puerto Rico, temp. here relatively hot , never has that happened to me ...hope that done happen again to you bruh!
Probably the new air cool engine. Previous engine of R9t should be any prob with the slow traffic n bit high temp. Mine 2018 year till 150deg shouldn't be a problem
@Thirsty Traveller Thank you for your comment!! Maybe... I wanted to get previous models of R9T tbh but there was nothing in stock:( Ill change the engine oil so let’s see.
Well, honestly am not sure about the new engine but i reckon many have the same issues with the newer model. I've read and heard somewhere but not sure if it's true or untrue. Nvr face it myself
Never happened to me in 3 years of nine t classic in Parisian traffic. But we filter in traffic, I guess you guys don’t, that might be the reason why yours overheated but still it seems very abnormal
@Thomas Petit Thank you for your comment!! Yeah it seems that sth is not right as you say. I've never heard of anyone saying this issue and that's why I went for rninet... I want you to ride yours in Tokyo and see what would happen haha
had mine for 2 years, been riding in temps 42 celsius and in trafic , never had any issue... maybe your engine shut down due to something else! I USE 15-40 OIL if that helps.
@Stratos Thank you got your comment! Really. Do you turn the engine off when being stuck in traffic? My dealer systematically checked my rninet and said nothing is wrong. I’ll check that out!!!!! Thank you!!
@@THENOISE_vlog depends on the traffic, sometimes if im stuck meaning wont move for more than 5 min then yes i will switch off as this is an oil cooled engine and needs air to cool down...only in summer above 30 deg celsius
Hi. I am about to buy 2021 rninet. I am from the Philippines. It is hotter here. I’d like to know what happened. What caused the overheating? What temp number are you reading.
Hi. So, I was riding rninet in a temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius or so and had to stop pretty often since there was traffic. And then the engine suddenly stopped. According to the dealer, the engine was over heated prolly for 2 reasons. 1: rninet’s engine gets cool down with the air you get when you are driving because it’s air/oil cooled engine as you know. But I couldn’t move at all because of the traffic and the weather was pretty hot. Then, the engine got heated up pretty badly. (Now I try to turn off engine when there is a huge traffic or I slip through cars) 2: idk about the other countries. But in Japan my dealer put an engine oil with soft viscosity for the first 1000km ride (idk why) which gets hot easier than the hard one. The dealer said he changed the oil to the hard one now so let’s see. Nothing happed after so far. But idk if it’s because I’m being extra careful with the temp. I kinda wanna know what others do with their rninet. I try to think that it’s rninet’s personality haha For the record, my rninet’s engine oil went up to 180-190 degrees Celsius when it stopped according to my dealer. Let me know if there is more you wanna know.
@@THENOISE_vlog Thank you for taking time to explain. 190 Celsius is high. The good thing is it has an auto-shut off to protect the bike. Have a good day ahead.

Well, idk how much traffic LA has but as long as you don’t stop often and the engine continuously gets the air, I think it should be all fine. I literally couldn’t move at all for 20 mins or so. Also I couldn’t even slip through cars because the road in Tokyo is pretty narrow but I’d assume it’s easier to do in LA.
@@THENOISE_vlog Hey Bro appreciate the feedback, Okay yeah that makes sense if your were just stalled in traffic for a while without moving. @Stratos Thank you for your advice!! I will definitely keep an eye on that
I actually need to top up oil approximately every 5,000 km….its consistent, so I’m not concerned about my R9T, travelled 40,000 kms

Change to full synthetic oil also when at a stop light shut the engine if your going to be there a while
