  • That's right, stop your fussin', boy. There's too much love to have and too much life to live. It's sassy and fun, the way Toni intones with her truly unique voice and the very interesting African instrumental, optimistic sound.

Yo DAX, Good one!!! I was way into Toni for quite a while but somehow like so many others she kind of slipped off my radar screen as the years roll by. Great reminder of a great singer. A whole lot of power behind that voice. One thing I noticed in all her arrangements though is the total lack of any kind of classic screaming lead guitar in any of her songs. Maybe that's why she didn't get too big here in the states? Kind of surprising to me but I'm pretty into African music so to me the influence was right up my alley. Another outstanding thing about her tunes (to me anyway) is the bass lines. Definitely a lot of reggae influence there. If I'm not mistaken I believe she's playing bass on at least one if not more of those tunes!

"Don't Walk Away" 89' was the first time I heard her. House of Hope album in 91 was amazing. It's got a few really hard songs to hear because they're very real in content like "I've Gotta Go Now" about a woman trying to escape an abusive relationship.
    She is phenomenal.
