Your video brigs back memories - I did this in 1991. No people around then - the hut roof had loose corrugated roofing and banged like hell with the wind. We got started at 3.30 a.m. - glad to get up and away from the noisy banging. We didn't see anyone else on the mountain - two Mexican guys who'd camped up started a bit later than us but turned back at the bottom of the glacier, possibly because of the wind, which was severe. However, we were properly geared up and well acclimatized, having done Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl both over 17500 ft only a few days beforehand. We had one hell of a celebration once we got into town a day or so later having done all three peaks in eight days. Then it was a torturous return bus journey South to Belize where we were stationed with the British Army.
Great video, but a couple points of pronunciation are in order. Orizaba's main ice feature, the Jamapa Glacier, is pronounced "ha-MAH-pah". Not "JAM-uppa". And the erupting volcano near Puebla is pronounced "POPO-k' TEP-ettle", not......whatever that was.
I really enjoyed the video, awesome commentary and footage! Me and my friends want to do this with a guide in 2 weeks... I have done Nevada de Toluca (4700m) and it felt pretty good, but there will be no really big acclimation before the Pico De Orizaba. Do you think its possible / a good idea? We will go to the base camp on Friday, sleep & already go up in the same night. What do you think?
Thanks for the feedback! If you can hike up to 15k a day or two in advance it will help your chances. Certainly possible to summit without much acclimatization depending on how your own body handles altitude. Best of luck!
Excelente video, muy buen contenido y excelente narración, te felicito amigo: también tuve una experiencia similar a la tuya: th-cam.com/video/7Y0DZcwKUEg/w-d-xo.html

That scientific explanation of acclimatization at 4:00 was amazing and unexpected.
Glad you liked it!
Great job, congrats.
That's a cool climb! Now I want to do it! I liked the cultural aspect of seeing the city and the local people, too.
YES DUDE!! Well freaking done with the summit and an awesome awesome video!
Super video shoot

South east? I sure that Montain is not in the souht east part of the country. Is on the central east part.
Yes, you are right on that one!
Vomiting is a sign of Altitude sickness. Risky
Hi! When did you climb? Congratulations
Thank you! We climbed it in December 2018
