I worked as a youth pastor when Harry Potter first came out and did a lesson on it. I didn’t tell them that they couldn’t/shouldn’t watch it but just mentioned how the occult is real and magic seems enticing and witchcraft is isn’t okay if you think you have good intentions, etc. So use discernment and watch out for your non-Christian friends too. Got a lot of pushback. Which, of course, validated my position.
I got rid of all my Harry Potter books. Ive watched the movies hundreds of times, but the more I seek God, the less tv & movies I watch. Its hard to watch regular tv or movies now with all the 'agendas' within the scripts.
I was collecting first editions of the books as they came out. I read them all every year - much more than I read the Bible. When book 7 arrived, my first born baby girl was sleeping as I eagerly opened it and began reading. It was so dark. I shut it and never read it. I then put all 7 books on eBay and sold them for $53 dollars. I felt the Lord leading me and I know he was protecting my daughter who is now a 17-year-old fantasy-loving reader, but she is reading quality books that nurture her soul and her mind. None of my four kiddos have ever really asked about the movies. I praise God for rescuing me from what could have been a wide open door. Thank you Jenn for your powerful, loving words on the subject.
Love love love this one! I agree totally with your take on this. I remember back when HP was just starting to get popular, how alarmed I was by the number of confessing Christians I knew who were supporting it! Discernment discernment discernment! Thanks Jenn. God bless you!
Yoga? I won't touch it with a 10 foot pole, but many, many of my Christian friends do. My hope is that the Lord is looking at their hearts and protecting them. I pray for protection for them.
You hit the nail on the head sister. The bottom line is that all manner of witchcraft and wizardry or sorcery is an abomination to God. If God hates something, it’s for good reason. If it’s abominable to our Heavenly Father, it should be abominable to us as His children. God bless you sister Jenn. Stay strong in Jesus!!!
I’m sorry I read some of the books and bought them for my daughter, before I gave my life to the Lord. I thought they were just well written fictional stories about good versus evil. 🙁🥺 Wish I could turn back time and change many of the decisions I made as a parent. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! He works all things together for good, for those who love Him. 🙏🏻📖✝️❤️ Praying for my grown children and grandchildren to all know the perfect love of God in Christ Jesus.
I have a coworker and a friend who is a huge fan of Harry Potter. She has his collection and all his books and I keep trying to warn her about him and the show but she doesn’t listen to me and makes excuses for them saying that his friends are not evil they’re nice people but all I can do is just pray for her now. Thanks for this good video.
Even if you would say not to watch movies you would not be so wrong. Some of the actors are part of the occult system much higher than your experience you had in your life. Their sole agenda is to promote ungodliness in a way that looks "innocent". The problem with us today, as Christians, is that we are out of Egypt but we still miss the things from Egypt.
Thank you for talking about this with people! I was Christian and a mother of young children when this book first came out. I don't know why - but I resisted it because it quickly became a phenomenon. Someone sent it to me, however, and I read it and was instantly hooked because JK Rowling is an excellent writer. It took me until much later, when God woke me up to many wrong things surrounding my life - to see it for what it was - witchcraft in plain sight. When my principal asked me to teach this as a book circle selection in high school - I said "No, I'm not comfortable doing that as it promotes occult stuff." And you know what? She respected my decision. Christians, when something becomes spread across the world that is a rebellion against God - resist it! It can be subtle and you might find reasons to defend it - but those are Satan's ways. Stand firm and Jesus and the Holy Spirit will guide you.
Thank you Jenn for bringing up these very important topics. I am a born again believer and am always praying for my adult girls especially that they’ll have discernmen and come to a personal relationship with our Lord. When they were young and I was not yet born again I saw no harm in the kind of series called Bewitched and I dream of Jeanie, bur now I do!! I never liked Harry Potter, I agree with you 100%! The Lord God is so Good - He saved me and my husband and now I am praying for my girls…. Can you perhaps have a discussion on Sarah Young -Jesus Calling and the book: The Shack- I know some who are born again believers who actually like those books. Thank you sister.
When hp books first came out, my son's grandmother on his father's side (my son was about 6 years old), gave these books to my son as a gift, yet she was a very nice lady but not a believer in Jesus. He never had the chance to read them yet. One of them was a very thick book and 3 more books. At the time, I knew nothing about hp, so while my son was at school, I was cleaning his room and saw the books, so I started to read one of the books (the thick one), it did not take me long to realize (the Holy Spirit) this book is about witchcraft, the bible clearly say not to be apart of this wickedness. But now I have to tell my son that these books that this grandmother (that he love's) that she gave him are wicked and that we have to throw them away, so that day, I prayed to Jesus to help me to tell him the truth. When he got home, I sat him down and told him, he was sad, I told him that he would have to throw them away and he said he wants me to throw them away, so I did, he went on being happy, thinking nothing about. That year my son was in his class room and the teacher got out a hp book to read to the class, my son raised his hand and said to his teacher, my mother does not allow me to read/hear about this book. When he got home, I received a note from his teacher, saying that hp was a very good boy and how she loved the book. So I decided to have a meeting with her, at the meeting, I told her how I appreciated her being my son's teacher (i approached her very kindly) I explained to her that we are Christian's and that this book has witchcraft in it and that if she is going to read it, to please take my son out of the room. She thought about it and decided to not read hp at all to any of the children that year (praise Jesus). Then years later, I was talking to one of my Christian friends daughter about what was going on in her life and she was telling me how she love's reading hp books. Then she told me that some gothic girl's at school want to kill her. I told her that she had opened her self up to the demonic with the hp books, I told her to pray to Jesus for protection and to get rid of the hp books. Christian, please pray and read your bible!!!!! Jesus truly love's you!!!!!
The problem with watching Harry Potter and other movies like that (Even hero movies that teach us subconsciously to be revengeful and destroy the evil, meaning fight evil with evil ) that praise and make the supernatural seem to be the best thing to have superpowers like that is that it INFLATES the EGO, the ego that wants to CONTROL, DOMINATE, CONQOUR ...etc. Is this what God wants us to be like? Is this what Jesus Christ thought us in the Bible? or is it the other side that tries to influence us subconsciously into believing something false that would make us do horrific things to one another? Like making us believe that we are God by giving us something (whichcraft/magic "powers") that we can use against each other?
I’m so glad I’m not the only one. My parents never let me read H.P. I’m glad they didn’t. How do you feel about the Twilight series. I was involved with youth ministry at church and the girls loved it! I decided to read it so I could talk with them about it, because I was concerned for them. I couldn’t read it every time I opened it I felt like a dark cloud was over my head.
Thank you Jenn for alerting parents about demonic and divination practices aimed at our kids. Never liked the craziness over this book. The author said it was channeled to her, it just came to her. Biblical themes and references in J. K. Rowling's final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.: “In an August 2007 issue of Newsweek, Lisa Miller commented that Harry dies and then comes back to life to save humankind, like Christ. She points out the title of the chapter in which this occurs-"King's Cross"-a possible allusion to Christ's cross. Also, she outlines the scene in which Harry is temporarily dead, pointing out that it places Harry in a very heaven-like setting where he talks to a father figure "whose supernatural powers.”
After watching Joe Schimmel and Doreen Virtue, I ended up throwing away all my Harry Potter books in the trash. I also threw away my Lord of the Rings and Narnia books, though I'm still kind of undecided about Lord of the Rings.
Oh my goodness, my daughter in law defends that freak all the time! She says nothing is wrong with him! We had a fight over Christmas and now a strained relationship, I'm judgemental she said! I'm so sad for my granddaughter 😢
@@Expsychicsaved me also. I've tried all different ways to get her and my son to understand the implications of their choices. Magic cards (game) is another contention. 😔
I wasn’t allowed to watch/read Harry Potter growing up. Watching the movies as an adult the stories not glorify witchcraft but blur a lot of the lines between good and evil. The charming stories lull the believer into apathy. There’s such a cult like following among believers that can be somewhat disturbing.
Jenn, do you have any thoughts on and experience with Nutritional Response Testing or applied kinesiology? I encountered this testing at a natural healthcare provider and discovered it is very popular with Christians. Doing my own research there wasn’t any observable science and instead claims were “quantum physics” and “the body knows what it needs”. I heard one lady’s testimony of how addictive it became in her life and the Lord brought her out of it, but I wish there was more info out there to warn Christians about the practice which seem very New Age to me.
I don't think there's any danger in a Spirit filled Christian watching Harry Potter. For most, they won't have any desire to watch it anyway. It's non Christians, or on the fence believers and children that are at most risk of watching stuff like Harry Potter.......and Disney is just as bad or worse✝❤
A Christian "can" watch it, but it's certainly not edifying, and may be a danger even to Christians. Our minds are not perfect, our hearts are never fully committed to God, so we have to guard our hearts and minds, no matter how strong we think we are.
Thank you for this Jenn. I recently reached out you and asked about Pokemon. After getting your expert advice and reading about it we burned all of the Pokemon cards we had.
Great video, however Jesus said in the Gospel accounts, Behold, I give YOU power, Holy Ghost Power, Go, preach the Gospel, cast out demons, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, I was delivered by a very spirit filled, faith filled godly woman praying for me, taking authority over demons! This is Bible, and I totally agree, Harry Potter is demonic!!😊
I’m afraid to watch it! I don’t want to risk letting demonic forces have a new access point to me. It makes witchcraft practitioners look cute and lovable. I’m 62 but I don’t assume I have natural immunity to it.
Harry Potter we know is wicked and should be avoided. But here’s a can of worms to open: Narnia and Lord of the Rings have magic in them too. Both of these are “acceptable” in Christian circles. I say avoid them all, what do you say? Also, the Hobbit movie series has Gandalf and the others fighting a legit necromancer who is VERY dark! Avoid avoid avoid!
So, the worlds constructed by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, even though they fall into the fantasy genre, have a very different moral compass. Their works do not blur the lines between good and evil. The movies are not comparable to the books. There are some subtle and some not so subtle differences.
Thank you so much for this video!❤
