    5 weeks ago, I hired a phony landscaper to move my 2 1/2 foot purple c m in its dormant stage from my small garden in the rear of the home to the sunny front. In the meantime I also had him first cut down to the grade my burning bush. He saw my big saw in my basement as I was telling him what i want done, he grabbed it and started cutting the trunks of the B B. In the
    meantime I went about some interior house work and when i went back to see the results, the B B was cut like I wanted, and I notieced the c m was not there. He said he planted in the front. Sure enough he did, but he had no tools to do so , so he had to just pull out the c m and planted it in the area that I wanted. Now 5 weeks later no sign of life, but I recall if I scrape a branch or trunk and see green, its still alive..So i saw green and figured it was in a state of shock and watered it daily. During those 5 weeks, the top part of that branch i scaled is no longer looking green, so I went below towards the base and it was still green there. Do you know if this c m would make it under those conditions?

      @@nishelbyking669 It depends on where you live. It gets pretty hot where I live, so I need to water frequently in the summer. Sometimes little black beetles will eat the foliage; Neem oil works for getting rid of them (also for powdery mildew). Good luck, and enjoy your crape myrtle!

    If you have any of these or any crape myrtle for that matter and live in the south east (and if your here you probably have one) I highly recommend purchasing a systemic drench to ward off the crape myrtle bark scale. Your local home improvement store will have it. It isn't cheap it's necessary. If you notice any darkening of the bark or small white bugs better not wait. The drench takes weeks to get up the tree. These bugs can make your tree look like it's been in a camp fire. And they don't waste time.

    Hello, I am writing to you from the beautiful Colombian coffee city Pereira. I am an admirer and I love this tree here popularly called Jupiter or crepe. I want to plant a specimen in my home garden but unfortunately we do not have this great variety here, here it is very common to see them in the form of medium-sized bushes some grow about two meters or a little more but with this shrub shape, with many stems. I want my Jupiter tree to get a large tree shape with a strong stem and even shade, what recommendations could you give me to reach my goal. My garden is sunny throughout, we have no seasons the temperature is a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius maximum some rainy seasons between March and April and October and November it is true that the land you need is an acid type. In the video I loved the red trees that they showed are beautiful, here the pink ones and the white ones are very common and on a smaller scale the purple ones. Looking forward to your help. Thank you very much for such a good job and making it known.

And the new leaves coming out are Green in color. They are still Green after few days (Not turning black). But when I purchased this plant from nursery, all leaves are black.
    I live in India and currently it's Spring (beginning of summer) here and temperature is around 34°C (93.2°F). Last month I used Vermicompost fertilizer.

      Hi Victor,
      I'm sorry your crape myrtle doesn't look healthy right now. Can you tell me what zone you are in and what your weather is like currently? Also, do you have the plant outside or indoors?
      They prefer a well- drained but moist soil. Crape Myrtle grow best in an acid to slightly acid soil ranging from 5.0 to 6.5 on the pH scale. Most average garden soils fall between a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0.
      Let me know the answers to the above questions so I can help you better.

      Hi Maria, we have a source for mailing finished plants, however we do not recommend taking cuttings due to plant patents. Thank you for reaching out to us! Just let us know if you are interested in finished plants.

      nelson moreno, if you live in the U.S., especially in the south, it’s because we had a very mild spring, which has also lasted longer than usual. The plants are used to the weather being warmer by now so blooming has been delayed. Three fourths of my neighborhood have crepe myrtles but only about 10% of them have bloomed, and they started maybe only about a week ago. My crepe myrtle has just started putting buds on but it’s because of the more mild weather. Give it some time and hopefully you’ll see some buds emerge. Hope this helps!

    Can they be used in partial shade as a privacy fence

    • @Eric.Mercado
      @Eric.Mercado 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can. But they love and require full sun, a minimum of 6-8 hours to thrive and reach the highest blooming potential. TBH, I would avoid it if you can't provide them with 6-8 hours of sun. Not only will they start looking sparse and leggy, but you will also be battling aphids and powdery mildew probably until their final demise or you will get rid of them out of frustration, whichever happens first.

    i'm zone 7b. i have two of these but they will be pulled up and tossed next week when I can get to it. covered with aphids every season no matter what I do to protect them, they are ruined and after 4 years they are only 4.5 feet tall. just such a waste of money for my area.

      Most probably powdery mildew, a fungal which Lagerstroemias (crape myrtles) are prone to. Search on "powdery mildew control" for more information.

      He does not say how tall they get and how much they grow each year. The presentation left more questions than answers, IMHO. I think they are very attractive but look skimpy for what I would want, but they might mature, fluffier and more graceful, but he does not say. Do they canopy as they grow taller? How does he know they might get to 10-12 feet. Does he not test these before he puts them on the market?

    • @brokenbutterfly3178
      @brokenbutterfly3178 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@patfondren6013 I don't think they'll form a canopy. Trying to prune these to take more of a tree shape would likely end in disaster. Better to stick with the regular green leafed ones if your looking for shade.

    • @brokenbutterfly3178
      @brokenbutterfly3178 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patfondren6013 np. The mature height of these is anywhere from 10-12 feet in height according to various sources on the internet which would mean that you'll have to clear everything from down below up to 6 feet to create some headspace so that you could at least walk under it. That however would leave only about 4 or 6 feet of canopy left ruining the overall shape of this shrub. Also, you'll have to wait years before it even reaches maturity. Better to be used as a screening plant or in a perennial border.
