You know, it's kinda subtle but the protest of the Operator against the preemptive genocide of the primers and the finale of EDF 5 where your orders are first to arrest the Primer leader instead of ordering him to be killed right away shows that despite everything humans have held onto morality well enough. The Primers committed incredible atrocities and wanted humanity extinct but they still hesitated to do the same to them, even in self defense and gave the leader responsible for billions of deaths a chance to surrender peacefully.
@@lautarogomez9711 EDF6 starts with few human survivors feeling compassion to humanoid aliens that were abandoned on Earth, despite being forced to fighting such for survival while humanity was on a patch to extinction, so I'd say that EDF's humanity is ultimately morally good and will stay that way whatever happens.
Didnt expect to face the questionable moral of putting an entire civilization, both potentially innocent and guilty to the torch. But there was no other choice, that's the type of war the primer waged from the start.
Yeah, I would imagine that solution leaving a sour taste in the EDF's mouths but it is true that they had no choice. The Primers have shown they are not just willing but flat-out hell-bent on wiping humanity out, not caring about their innocents and with the time travel capabilities they have there truly is no other option but preventing them from ever existing. It's not a pretty solution but the only option the EDF had.
I think its mostly because the existance of humanity now "genocides" several of the primer species, especially the ones that evolve on earth. Also Plan Omega existing i think validates some of the Primers fears, since we have future knowledge of where their other species will evolve. Theres no guarantee that we wouldn't "stab them in the cradle" so to speak.
I must remark that Sandlot did something special with the boss in this mission and the ring: They made these two enemies render at unlimited range. For most missions, most or all of the Ring and the worm boss are outside the 1,000 meter render distance, but they are rendered anyways. What disappoints me is that they removed this limitation only for these two enemies when it also would have fit the other large entities such as the Motherships, transport ships, Erginus, etc. Oh well. DLC should be announced next week, though!

So basically, beating the last mission in inferno rewards you not just with top tier endgame weapon drops but also with making the operator become your lover. Well now I know what difficulty I'm aiming for when I get the game. Waifu matters aside, this was a great playthrough. I enjoyed watching it from beginning to end and you did a great job translating. To be honest I loved EDF 5 but the ending left a bad taste in my mouth for a while so being able to see a legitimately happy ending in 6 made me happier than I can describe. It's kinda a pity what happened to the Steam version. Many were looking forward to it, but then they learned it requires an Epic Games account, and they got hella pissed.
I binge watched this series, and how much has the Earth Defense Force franchise evolved... to think this was a low-budget playstation 2 game about shooting giant termites at first, and you ended shooting GOD in the face. It's the embodiment of power fantasy. Taking a world in ruins, a war which every victory is phyrric at best, and meaningless at worst, then suddenly discovering that, by going to the past, victory could be achieved. Besides this, Mission 104 and Mission 117 were my favorite moments in the playthrough. Seeing the hype building almost brought me to tears. And every time you kick some primer ass, there's the chanting. Mission 117 moreso, your brothers in arms going all "EDF, EDF" when you punched the towers to the ground. And seeing that you went through almost 150 videos of the main campaign, translated everything... all I have to say is... EDF! EDF!

@@flyingtofu8074 EDF 5 released roughly a year in the west after japan and then a year after that for PC. If it is the same here, we get it in 5 months as that puts it at a year. And before 6 released the devs said they knew in the west they always got more sales from it on PC especially on steam and would be looking into that moving forward hopefully. Other wise, it is 5 months for console here in the west, and then 1 year and 5 months for pc.

I noticed something on the video and referencing the wiki when the Nameless dies: 23:17 The nameless made a last attempt to time-travel in an effort to save itself but failed… resulting in it being overwhelmed by the energy from the space-time time travel attempt and making this gigantic explosion… When the explosion happened… only the organic half of the nameless’s remains were left in the air and fell into the ground… But the other cybernetics half of the Nameless: the timeship it was merged to was gone… Or somehow vanished from existence as a result of the explosion… I like to think it vanished from the explosion and erased from existence… but it is possible that the energy from the nameless’s last ditch time-travel attempt must have teleported and sent the remains of the timeship on an uncontrolled trajectory and velocity through time while forcibly separating itself from the nameless, effectively killing it and leaving its organic remains to be left in the air for a few seconds before it landed onto the ground. And it left me this question as I know that the nameless is truly dead but the timeship it was merged has disappeared as a result of the uncontrolled time-travel energies and the explosion… and this is the question on my mind: where did the remains of the timeship go? Which time and era it got sent to? What are the consequences if it landed in a much different universe, parallel universe or in an alternate timeline? Or worse, it landed in an non-EDF timeline or in a different genre universe like in the transformers universe, mecha universe, fantasy universe, isekai universe, any magical girl universes, or a horror-genre universe… With that… I can’t imagine if the remains of the timeship survived the explosion and landed somewhere else jn any era through the failed time travel with potential, unimaginable consequences if someone else finds it… Or what problems it would cause for any versions of humanity or anything else in the universe if the remains of the timeship is discovered as we don’t know anything else other than imagining the possibilities and scenarios from that mere possibility.
Wait, remember how they said the EDF was created because humanity found the crashed remains of a Primer ship? What if this is it? What if this dragon ship that disappeared is the wreckage that humanity discovered? By their very first interaction with humanity, the Primers had doomed their race by creating this time paradox loop where their god dies and the time traveling ship is sent back into the past for humanity to discover. The Primers would have never known how humanity discovered their existence; just that they did at some point. How could the Primers have known that humanity would know of their existence when the cause of that event wouldn't happen until the Primers are about to be wiped from existence? All they know is that their world is dying from pollutants that mysteriously appeared one day and that humanity may be the cause of it.
So, Storm one will marry the Operator soon i guess XD ? + harem of wingdivers >:3 Congrats for clearing and thank you very much for translating >:3 it's been a long ride.

EDF6 was actually a big success in Japan, both in sales and audience reception. It won second place in the PlayStation user's choice awards, only surpassed by Elden Ring. So I think it's fair to assume we'll see another one a few years from now 😁

7:03 looking at their reaction either the god we faced in 5 was non existent until that point or he's already killed but another being showed up to their surprise the operator comment "god is still alive". Genuinely what's the purpose god choose to alter his body into half mechanical? With that newly strength from even more harsh environment due to toxic bomb which led more superior evolution and plus it's body size. He might pulverize humanity. It's like Anakin Skywalker but he still strong even his body went drastic change
With the "God is still alive" line she's referring to what has been said before, that the Primer haven't been with us (continuously) for thousands of years like previously assumed. But they came and went, using their time travel technology. That means the "God" the people back then encountered and wrote into their Myths, maybe only spent a couple of years there in total. It just seemed like thousands or millions of years for humanity because they could come and go as they please thanks to their time travel ships. That's why she concludes that being (=God) is still alive today. It's not necessarily an "ancient being", studying humanity over thousands of years might've been just a five year project from the Primer's perspective.

@@formalcat9526 The only two people who remember past loops are Stormguy and the Brofessor. The entirety of EDF5, up until EDF6's mission 13 was one of those loops. So to the people of Earth which are still alive during the final mission of EDF6, there was no other loops or timelines, to them this giant dragon spaceship is the first time they encounter "God". Only Stormguy and Brofessor remember the other time at the end of EDF5.
I thought about keeping it in...but the video was already so long and if I had included the credits, I felt like I should have to translate those as well and honestly...I didn't feel like that 😅
I'm actually not sure if it really is the same being. The obvious size-difference aside, its face/head is also different. EDF5's "Nameless" has no visible eyes while this one here has a huge one right in the middle 🤔

It's amazing how EDF handles a time travel story much better than most works of fiction that take themselves very seriously.
Not only that. Despite having repeated gameplay and reused maps & enemy, each episodes and game is different from each other.

So we went from, fighting giant insects, to literally killing god, to time travel, to killing god once again except pepsiman is stronger now. Gaming

My headcanon is still that every EDF game is the same alien civilization going through historical events parallel to us, wich is why their stuff looks different each game.

I _think_ the often overlooked _Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon_ is the only other game in the series that does something like this. And also in the final mission.

I noticed something on the video and referencing the wiki when the Nameless dies:

The nameless made a last attempt to time-travel in an effort to save itself but failed… resulting in it being overwhelmed by the energy from the space-time time travel attempt and making this gigantic explosion…
When the explosion happened… only the organic half of the nameless’s remains were left in the air and fell into the ground…
But the other cybernetics half of the Nameless: the timeship it was merged to was gone… Or somehow vanished from existence as a result of the explosion…
I like to think it vanished from the explosion and erased from existence… but it is possible that the energy from the nameless’s last ditch time-travel attempt must have teleported and sent the remains of the timeship on an uncontrolled trajectory and velocity through time while forcibly separating itself from the nameless, effectively killing it and leaving its organic remains to be left in the air for a few seconds before it landed onto the ground.
And it left me this question as I know that the nameless is truly dead but the timeship it was merged has disappeared as a result of the uncontrolled time-travel energies and the explosion… and this is the question on my mind:
where did the remains of the timeship go?
Which time and era it got sent to?
What are the consequences if it landed in a much different universe, parallel universe or in an alternate timeline?
Or worse, it landed in an non-EDF timeline or in a different genre universe like in the transformers universe, mecha universe, fantasy universe, isekai universe, any magical girl universes, or a horror-genre universe…
With that… I can’t imagine if the remains of the timeship survived the explosion and landed somewhere else jn any era through the failed time travel with potential, unimaginable consequences if someone else finds it… Or what problems it would cause for any versions of humanity or anything else in the universe if the remains of the timeship is discovered as we don’t know anything else other than imagining the possibilities and scenarios from that mere possibility.
Wait, remember how they said the EDF was created because humanity found the crashed remains of a Primer ship?
What if this is it? What if this dragon ship that disappeared is the wreckage that humanity discovered?
By their very first interaction with humanity, the Primers had doomed their race by creating this time paradox loop where their god dies and the time traveling ship is sent back into the past for humanity to discover.
The Primers would have never known how humanity discovered their existence; just that they did at some point. How could the Primers have known that humanity would know of their existence when the cause of that event wouldn't happen until the Primers are about to be wiped from existence? All they know is that their world is dying from pollutants that mysteriously appeared one day and that humanity may be the cause of it.
I haven’t thought of that as either… this is something new but it doesn’t explained how would they know?
I haven't reach this level yet, but dev really know how to push players to harder levels.

I just beat EDF 5 and I liked him more when he had a body
First of all, that was a long and nice playthrough
Second, spoke too soon i'm afraid, no wonder the headhoncho wasn't in th no.11, since he was integrated (in creepy way)into the new time travelling ship
Third, Operation Omega, different from OG timeline but saves lots of lives(humans'), yet more or less of a double edge sword
Fourth, the professor sorta like turned into revenge seeking mad scientist which is unexpected
Last but not least, he Operator girl(?), damn.... ya can't help but a smile appears on your face, was kinda sad that she , the commander(?) and the intel gathering ladu didn't appeared in the beginning though

A great story we got from this. Fighting Glaucus, seeing Perseus in action, finally destroying that damn ring! Gonna miss the fast forward box collecting and time stop parts.

EDF6 was actually a big success in Japan, both in sales and audience reception. It won second place in the PlayStation user's choice awards, only surpassed by Elden Ring. So I think it's fair to assume we'll see another one a few years from now 😁

7:03 looking at their reaction either the god we faced in 5 was non existent until that point or he's already killed but another being showed up to their surprise the operator comment "god is still alive". Genuinely what's the purpose god choose to alter his body into half mechanical? With that newly strength from even more harsh environment due to toxic bomb which led more superior evolution and plus it's body size. He might pulverize humanity. It's like Anakin Skywalker but he still strong even his body went drastic change
With the "God is still alive" line she's referring to what has been said before, that the Primer haven't been with us (continuously) for thousands of years like previously assumed. But they came and went, using their time travel technology.
That means the "God" the people back then encountered and wrote into their Myths, maybe only spent a couple of years there in total. It just seemed like thousands or millions of years for humanity because they could come and go as they please thanks to their time travel ships.
That's why she concludes that being (=God) is still alive today. It's not necessarily an "ancient being", studying humanity over thousands of years might've been just a five year project from the Primer's perspective.
@@cenorexia so in final timeline. Their 5 years of fight (cmiiw) they haven't encountered "the god" like in 5 timeline? I kinda confused because they said god is riding the golden egg shape ship.
@@formalcat9526 The only two people who remember past loops are Stormguy and the Brofessor. The entirety of EDF5, up until EDF6's mission 13 was one of those loops. So to the people of Earth which are still alive during the final mission of EDF6, there was no other loops or timelines, to them this giant dragon spaceship is the first time they encounter "God". Only Stormguy and Brofessor remember the other time at the end of EDF5.
