Finally, Infini is up. The build quality is so good that it makes me clean up all my tubes recently. But everything else is strong.. The jog breaks easily. I've already broken two. Make sure to control the app!
I didn't buy them - figured if they were good, there would be a Gaffer and Gear review. Glad I didn't now I see the hi-speed flicker and app limitation
I bought a pb3 recently, it’s fantastic in low light for adding splashes of colour :) in hindsight I may have bought at mt pro, but this does offer expansion
I bought four of the PB12 lights and have been satisfied in the limited testing I've done thus far. The Sidus Link app does have a ton more features than displayed here. The particular sync effects are as Andrew displayed, but there's two more menu systems to dive into, with custom effects, music sync (haven't tested properly), color palettes etc. Customizing the built in effects like pixel fire can net some interesting results as well.
Great Video! Thanks a lot. I just bought 2 of the PB12 Bars - working great except for the CRMX. I put the Tubes in DMX Profile Mode 20 (D-RGB / 12 Pixels / 48 Channels) connecting via CRMX and the Litecraft CX.1 - there is a great noticeable stutter between the different light engines and there is almost no possibility to do smooth fades, chases or transitions. Tested with different dimming curves and DMX smoothing seems to just do nothing. Also updated to latest firmware and timotwo chip. It seems there is still something wrong with the DMX/CRMX Processing
@@gaffergear the pure RGB and CCT mode seems to work but only if DMX smoothing is turned on. Pixel FX mode works also but is very complicated to use in live situations
Unfortunately I don't have enough DMX knowledge or sophisticated DMX to really thoroughly test. I was watching a demo of these used in a pixel wall, and I noticed looking over at the console that it looked like the tubes were seconds behind the commands
Great video as always! Is there any chance you could review the Digital Sputnik Apollo? Seems like an interesting product i'd like a professional opinion on
@@gaffergear I know, it's been quite silent around this one lately. Still interesting fixtures in my opinion :) While i'm at it, what do you think of the Kelvin Epos lights? They definitely have drawn some attention to themselves
Hey Andrew, this was great, thank you. Question for you: I'm looking for some expert thoughts on how to create a book light that's fairly easy to travel with. Someone online mentioned Inifibars in a 4'x4' configuration. What are your thoughts on that approach? And alternatively, would it be easier to get a studio light, like a 300D, and shoot it through a collapsible 4x4' frame with magic cloth? Thank you!
I’m considering buying either these Aputure Infinibars or the Godox LD150 RGB Panel Light. I’m just not sure which one would make the better key light for a music video and I’m scared of the flickering 😅. What are your thoughts on the flickering? Is it a deal breaker?
They look like a very cool product, however, I wonder how useful the pixel tech is in reality? I'd love to see some real life applications of this tech.
I for one use them for working with product photography - I hooked the DMX into unreal engine … this way, unreal engine can show the background that’s projected behind the products and a reverse camera angle can use DMX pixel mapping on these bars to Project the proper contact lighting on the front of the objects so your objects will look like they’re in the virtual world and sit better in the virtual production space for real world photography
I own the kit of 2' units and I absolutely HATE the case. It's too unwieldy for a solo operator. I moved them all to another case and got rid of the original case.
Thank you. I don’t know how I missed that. So if I’m reading this right, the Asteras are a little brighter in daylight and tungsten but when using colors, the Infinibars are the winner?
@@frontfoot1035 Thats right. Colour brightness is all over the place from light to light. This can also be affected by the colour science, for example an RGBWW light turns on red emitters to go from white to red, whereas an RGBACL light has to turn off its GBACL to do the same.
these are not flicker free and green tint damm ,well be making all sorts of corrections to match .....would you say astera is still king of the tubes ?? up to what frame rate without flicker on these aputures ?

I think I love this channel the way some folks love church.
The church of legit gear reviews:)
We’re very fortunate to have you in our lives to walk us through the ins and outs of these units. Thank you again!
I had to wait all this months until andrew give his opinion before to buy anything hahaha
Nobody.. and I mean NOBODY reviews as well, as honestly and as concisely as Andrew... As my bank managers can sadly testify too.

Love the technology, its changed the industry. The 8 light kits are bit heavy too, need those wheels, even then it's a wrist strainer.
Nice! The bars were filled with cocaine and were seized by customs. But Andrew being the GOAT, got them through no worries!
It's my standard deal for a good review

Cheers, Andrew, you always have the best reviews. Just want to say that your opening shot feels so epic! Looks great.
That happened to me with YC Onion. It took almost two months for the products to arrive. It happens quite a bit from what I've found. Great review!
I was wondering if you could use these to play Snake?
Very helpful note about the curves, thank you!
Thanks very much Andrew

Magic infinite fx, is included in the free version of the app?? or a subscription is needed to get these functions? i can't find it...
I'm not sure, I'm on an Android phone if that makes a difference
3/16 is the hex key size
I pulled the tool out of my pocket and was about to comment the same thing
There's a frequency selector to make the flicker free
It doesn't help at all if you are shooting at high frame rates. +/- 200Hz isn't enough to fix the flicker issues this thing has.
