0:43 For Joy's case, she was too close to the fireworks. The fireworks jumped out and got attracted to her in-ear, causing it to explode inside of her ear and electrocute her through her ear. Now she's scared of fireworks.
I.N said he didn't eat before the performance because he was worried about being bloated. That was such a hard routine and he ran out of fuel. Hyunjin sat on the side of the stage for a few seconds to rest at some point during that same show.
I remember during BIGBANG's MADE tour, GD was so overworked due to the set list and nonstop shows worldwide that he was basically performing on the edge of consciousness. There was a clip in their tour documentary of him performing, going off-stage to pass out, going back on to perform his part entirely, and going back off afterwards to pass out again. He always stepped just far enough for fans to not notice until the documentary showed just how much he had been struggling. Non-fans said he looked like he was performing while intoxicated due to his movements and fans assumed he was simply having fun with the song, but he was just fighting staying conscious the entire time. It's horrible that artists in Korea feel the need to push themselves to that point. If someone is feeling sick, they should be able to step away... One of these artists is going to end up dying one day from overwork.
I feel so bad for Gfriend. The company overworked them during their early years to the point that several of the members had to continuously take hiatus due to physical sickness. The girls really worked hard to make the group successful and pay the company's debt then years later, the company just dumped them...
I’m cautious about what they said happened. It is known particularly with females in the industry that they usually are pressured to be skinny as a skeleton. So I think what may have happened is she has no energy and is depleted from not eating enough to sustain her body. That can cause fainting. Plus why now? They’ve been training for years are used to the long hours and now all of the sudden she’s overworked?… while true we don’t know how it was during training or other times. But exhaustion shows little by little until it reaches a critical point. It doesn’t just from one day to the next boom you faint. I think it has to do more with the lack of proper nutrition. And their label/representatives will never admit it because it is not the kind of image they want people to know. So I’d be a little skeptical as to what the real truth is.
Some people, especially people on a dangerous diet, don't ever get used to the amount of exercise they do. You just run and run until you hit empty. The fact that it takes some of them years to crash is incredible to me. It is ridiculous to expect the human body to exert an insane amount of energy on the daily and not put any energy back in to it.
This is a reminder that it’s okay to take breaks! Ben I love when u give us alot of content but don’t overwork your self, thank you for making videos!!💞
Idols often keep singing and trying to do the performance when a member faints or falls so that it doesn't draw TOO much attention on the member who is not doing well, because that pressure could make the situation a lot worse. I understand the frustration when not everyone is helping, but i also get why they do it: as long as someone is helping them, they're trying to help in a different way for the moment
These Idols work so hard but so many ppl think they are being extra or are not even trying these idols are working so hard for all of their fans so you can’t just do that to them
One thing that makes me mad is that even though these idols are all in the same profession, they understand more than anyone but they're so slow to react. Like you guys have to be the backbone for each other. I agree, these idols are being starved. Their bodies are consuming more than they can put in.
It’s awesome to see you talking about this with the gravity it deserves. It sucks that idols are exploited like this. I really hope there’s a way for them to unionise, so they have backup when they try to push back against the schedules & “beauty” expectations (“standards”) that cause so much harm.
for VIXX's case the first clip was Ravi who fainted from the high altitude of Mexico and the venue's poor ventilation! The second clip of N fainting was in Korea, but they had to perform outdoors during a heat wave in the summer + his outfit was too hot for the temperature so he inevitably overheated. They did not diet in unhealthy ways, but during both clips they were quite busy with multiple tours/performances and events
Can speak from experience here. The biggest factor is likely (at least in the fully passed-out instances) a lack of water/fluids. I've gotten dizzy, had heart palpitations, felt like I was floating/disconnected, and ended up passed out with no memory of how I ended up on the floor/ground. If you add in not taking in enough food or getting sufficient sleep, it's a recipe for disaster.
4:52, diet does play a big part. But the fact that they feel pressured to not eat and ‘stay skinny’ is a huge part too. The kpop industry can be rather cut throat when it comes to food and restricting their intake.
I totally agree with you BEN most of the time it is because of diets!!! the standards it happens to Jimin a lot as well being an ARMY several years and seeing him collapsing many times and it was because of diets and because people kept telling him he had big cheeks or he was fat ......idols because of those comments they start feeling a lot of insecurities and they themselves start to stop eating well and over workout all the time...thats why we as a fans we have to take care in what we are saying even if is kind of joke sometimes it is too much.... idols are human so stop and think what you gonna comment before through out the bomb
Bang chan being ready to catch I.N shows that he is truly helping and being worried about I.N. best leader! And also Felix helping him walk to back stage after he noctises
This treatment is bang out of order, their dealing with so many types of abuse. Money greedy people steep low, I’m surprised forms of abuse are not taken seriously in NK. Then we wonder why too many young idols died. 💜 From 🇬🇧 all. Stay Safe x
I know idols are expected to be professional but it really irritates me when one of there members faints and are asking for help because they feel sick and everyone just stares in shock and lightly touches them like damn help them for gosh sakes! As someone with anemia and a heart condition I'm not a stranger to fainting and i understand that sometimes there's no way to stop it but once there already down everyone just stares like why arent they fanning them, getting them water and moving as fast as they can. Fainting is a very serious thing and is a symptom of alot of serious issues like lack of sleep, low blood sugar, low vitamins, heat exhaustion, dehydration, high blood pressure and so much more. Any place were a group performs should have first aid people and managers should be better trained in these situations and the members too
Exactly. Probably not all from overworking but malnourishment combined with that. 💔 Edited to add: I will say, it is SUCH A GOOD THING that we see artists taking long hiatuses now (like Lia currently). They need rest like everyone else.
08:00 Skz are honestly one of the most hard wroking idols i wasn't suprised seeing I.N here NO IDOL DESERVES TO BE OVERWORKED THE NEED REST DO THEY CAN WORK(and good food)
Fainting actually happened so much that companies have rules what to do when a member faints. I believe SM used to have the rule that the others had to ignore it and continue performing
Lee know & Moonbin collapsing after Tiger Inside should’ve been in the video. I’m not sure why Moonbin collapsed he probably was just tired & like you said malnutrition but LeeKnow fainted cuz he had 4 performances in one day.
I think during the GFriend situation where the two weren’t responding and one of them was singing they had a backtrack and they didn’t want to get clocked for lip-synching so they have to continue singing or else they’ll say that they don’t sing live and a whole bunch of other things so I think honestly when she was singing, she was trying to preserve the group and keep some normalcy
Overworking, dieting, lack of hydration in order to look skinny - these problems are slowly killing the idols. They will bring depression, serious health problems and lots of other mental problems as their body is always straining for even the smallest thing. I read about many of the girls (very young ones too) ending up not having periods for months in a row because of the stress on their body. This is such a huge red flag for a woman's body. This can lead to all kind of problems and even infertility. And for what? Seriously, I don't get Korean beauty standards and the crazy criticism of everything. The netizens are NEVER happy. The idols work so, so hard for everything and instead of being judged by their talent, only the image is important ☹
2nd time of asking to bring back good energy to this channel haha. You should watch ZEROBASEONE CUTE AND FUNNY MOMENST (MELTING POIN ERA) ❤ they are a new group but they are getting so much good attention and respondes not only by their music but also personalities
I hope you could watch more of these, like pt 2 or more. There are many more situations like these and it’s good of more people would see this to understand their idols. Many people judge to quickly without understanding…
The part that actually makes me sick is when these poor idols end up passing out or anything like that you see the cameras going wild. Like that’s the best moment to get shots in and make sure they have a story it’s disgusting how they are treated dolls.
Please do not overwork the kpop idols,i just feel so sad and can they not restrict them from eating food that much😢😢 They are also human, let them rest for a bit😔
Actually for IN it was the effort put into performing the stage. All Skz work hard and perform very tiring choreos, at the end of that stage they were all destroyed.
I'm actually a little shocked at the lack of proper reactions to someone fainting. I'm a paramedic, so I get that not everyone knows what to do, but for most of these people it's probably their blood pressure or blood sugar. So make sure they lie down and get their legs up and give them something sweet to drink like apple juice. Also, can't they have some sort of divider they can carry on stage as to shield the idol from the viewers, instead of having someone who just collapsed try to walk off the stage?
The scariest video was a idol cough up a ton of blood they cleaned him up and put him back on stage during rehearsals. Their manager was very mean and strict you could tell they were scared of him. He was saying there was nothing wrong with him and he was faking for attention. N passing out was cause he was overheated while he was outside. That year was a record heatwave and was like 105 degrees outaide and he had juat finished filming scenes for a drama and was already showing signs of being overheated backstage when he got there. They kept trying to cool him down and he was dehydrated
Thanks for bringing light to this situation. Korean beauty standards are too high. They are Human, not superhuman. The double standard for women idols is disgusting.
With all their effort and time some of their haters don see these things before hating on them it's not easy to keep fit Saying cruel thing about them is unfair Hating on them is bad
Agree, they don't eat enough to do all the work, plus the overworking being here being there airplanes filming a show this show concerts fansigns and fanmeetings... Its just too much... They're humans not robots
The other members who sometimes aren't helping are trying to disguise the fact that it's a back track and there weren't going to be reliable live vocals. That's what I've always assumed. Especially for a girl like GFriend who have insane live vocals. They try to keep the mics at their face so it still looks like the vocals are live. You can especially tell because she eventually gives up and there's no mic to a mouth for the high note at the end.
people never mention this but periods play a big part on these kind of situations. especially if you're already anemic, and if you don't have a proper nutrition you can be really really weak when your period comes around.
We need to keep in mind that they also have to go through their menstruation (if they're healthy enough to get it...), so the dehydratation, lack of nutrition and heavy exercise paired with loss of blood is a really bad combo... I strongly sympatize with female idols, espacially the ones that suffer during their period and have no other choice than to work. You go girls.
I think another example is NCT Chenle having a form of heat exhaust after performing on a music show and then filming content right after in the waiting room. I don't think SM ever said anything but the members looked really worried. Mark and Haechan have also showed many signs of being overworked. I know they say they are okay with it or want to do it but SM as a company needs to know when to cut everyone a break.
Male and female pop stars on poor diets due to ridiculous beauty standards has been a long term problem. Some toxic fans claim to care but in the same breath they criticise any apparent weight gain and praise tiny waists even on male idols .The amount of physical exertion these idols have to endure from a young age coupled with nutritionally lacking diets affects their health in the long term too - higher risk of injury , reduced fertility, loss of bone density etc .- not to mention the psychological and emotional issues with food . They often seem to live on coffee to keep them going and I would guess a lot start to smoke because it suppresses the appetite . In addition they often have ridiculously heavy costumes and the care when performing is not the greatest . They should have electrolyte drinks to replace lost salts , proper methods of cooling down etc . Their level of physical fitness and demands on their body is comparable to athletes - and look at the care taken for athletes - nutrition , rest ,aftercare . I have so much admiration for all these idols - their dedication and hard work gives pleasure to so many people and they should be looked after not pushed beyond normal human limits . The physical, mental and emotional stamina needed must be enormous - way more than most people could handle and these people are YOUNG. The companies bottom line is profit - but a little less profit and a LOT more care would go a long way to stop these kind of events - and we only see a fraction of what is going on . The way the idols are controlled seems to border on modern day slavery. Hopefully , in the future , we will see an increase in focus on being healthy and fit - eating/living well - rather than skinny , pale ,starving and on the verge of collapse .
For members there use to be this “rule” kinda that the performance should go on especially if it’s like an actual performance like mama or mma but I’m hoping that is over 😢
I have a thought, that some of the female idols in this compilation may feel bad because of the period? Cuz, as I think, no one will make a schedule flexible because of this for each of the girls in a group (it will be difficult to coordinate the work if each of the girls will have their period on their own time throughout the month)
every time i've gone to an indoor kpop concert, they use all kinds of fog machines and lighters and lasers and it makes ME want to pass out.... the air is thick and hot and it's hard to breathe or see, on the floor or even in the stands. i genuinely cannot imagine performing on stage in those conditions, with spotlights, and hard dance moves, and makeup, and costume, and singing/rapping. insane.
At lot can be dehydration, and heat exhaustion as well. Some of these idols have their concerts for 2 and a half plus hours, expecting to perform back to back extremely difficult choreography all throughout a tour. No matter how much you train and try to build up your stamina it is so draining. It has happened to even the most healthy people like Wonho, and BTS Jungkook. If you watch Burn the Stage one of BTS' documentaries you will see Jungkook almost passing out back stage and he still went back out to finish the concert. Even in other documentaries of theirs, as soon as BTS is off stage you see them getting oxygen and the staff helping them right away, because they are about to pass out. It's honestly hard to watch because they perform for us. Nutrition is extremely important though, because idols are overworked and have such a busy schedule they barely have time to eat, or it is always take out food because they are on the go. I think companies should prioritize a chef/nutritionist to each idol group. Having healthy home cook meals are so important. Living off take out food isn't healthy.
Ben watch the BTS movie Burn the Stage, you will see what the idols go through and see them being given oxygen and medical treatment during concerts as they work so hard and don’t always pace themselves . Things like lack of sleep, heat, diet etc all play a part. They really do work hard to entertain their fans.
We know K-pop idols have to be slim and healthy but it’s very serious to be overworking them is too much they are also human they need to get some rest ✨❤️🫶
I´m pretty sure most of the time when these Female Idols faint or just are rlly unwell the reason are their Period cramps. In some clips u can cleary see them holding their Stomachs
I wonder which MAMA performance was it that I.N. collapsed... In the beginning, he had trouble with food, always thinking about it, thinking that he didn't look good, He talked about it a lot on Talker...all the members kept pushing him to eat. I think that from the groups that I know well enough, STRAY KIDS are one of the healthiest. They eat well, Body image is very different, especially Changbin. Yes! He looks really good, but not by Korean standards, where you need to be slim, fit, and no more. But by the way I.N (and all of them. plus what they're wearing) looks in the video, It looks pretty recent...So I don't know what happened there.
it was mama 2022, i can't remember the exact circumstances but they were in leather bouncing around a hot stage (hotter than normal), but i agree skz are very open and I.N as well as others have talked about poor diet in the past, to the point where in dwaekki gym (skz code) the members were like "no don't ever skip meals or starve yourself" to fans as that's not healthy, i was happy when they spread that message to stays
even just recently, txt admitted to not having a week of rest for years. in 2024, i really hope bighit gives them a deserved break. tbh it's unlikely though, as their seniors are in the military, so they will most likely be overworked even more.
As you mentioned Ben this idea that they should or must dieting is not needed at all, because of how much they are doing especially when it comes to their dancing, it doesn’t need to be advanced because they often do more than one performance at the time. Ad to that the lights and other equipment that can be on stage and it probably can become warm on stage even more when they are indoors and you have a lot of fans watching them and they want to perform great for their fans and make it a great concert or award. Here is just a few of all the things that I have seen in videos that shows then it happened to different artists. Remember one that is on Thunder from MBLAQ he lost counties as he did a flip it looks like he almost landed on his head or really close to. V and J hope has nearly collapsed after a performance of DNA, think it was Jin that kept V up, but J hope is a question if he inhaled some smoke because it looks like he coughs, then it’s Jimin after his performance with Taemin and the just get off stage and he just collapsed when they were talking it’s fan cams of it happened. None of this is good and we as fans need to somehow make the company’s understand that this is not accessible at all. They need to get all the nutrients, a balanced cost and a lot of fluids to stay hydrated and healthy.
The idols are usually expected to on with the performances no matter what's going on on stage. Remember even in the clip when someone tried to kidnap Taeyeon. Most of them went on singing
I had swine flu as a kid, it is the only time I was ever so sick I hallucinated. How on earth she managed to perform on a stage multiple days I will never be able to understand.
i think for joy, you can see her quickly take off her in ear monitors, so maybe her in-ears bursted and it was loud in her ears so she obviously got scared
I collapse everywhere lmao and i become okay in an hour Dw guys sometimes its just the lights and standing up for hours just somehow messes your blood flow
I feel like when it comes to management or agency who manages these idols they should include measure to take when it comes to fainting. like i understand you are in shock but you cant just be standing there for over 2 seconds still not helping and the staff, staff should be ready by the backstage ready in action bro. Or even say or tell the idols if they feel dizzy or lightheaded or even feel like they are going to faint, get off the stage. I've seen many in the video where they clearly feel dizzy and yet they still perform. They should get off where they can lie down bc if they fall even when feeling dizzy that can cause a bigger injury.
Female artists have a bit of a catch 22 as well. Sometimes their diet is so strict that they no longer have their periods (Ashely from Lady Code discussed this on Get Real podcast on the Dive Studio) which can be great not to worry about, but brings its own issues. If they do still have their periods, the pain and blood loss is definitely a factor for the unlucky ones. People don't realize how bad anemia can be. Acute Anemia can kill you if not caught and treated. It tends to build over months, so you don't really notice how bad it is getting (like the proverbial frog in hot water)
Idols don’t deserve to be overworked they are humans too
Real.
❤
I agree
@@Chososimp yes but u love straykids?

What.... that's soo traumatizing
being overworked isn't helped at all by not eating and severe dieting. you are right.
"Bangchan being Bangchan."
TRUE.
Love your videos! =]
I.N said he didn't eat before the performance because he was worried about being bloated. That was such a hard routine and he ran out of fuel. Hyunjin sat on the side of the stage for a few seconds to rest at some point during that same show.
I recall from another video seeing one of the backup dancers collapse to the floor at the end of Maniac during this same performance.
I have to agree idols don't deserve this they need rest so sad 😔
Totally agree
Agree
I love when he talks seriously.. man knows things.. 🦋
Guys remember, idols are still human. Some are overworked, some are uncomfortable, and yet they still get hate. They deserve way more❤

Thanks for bringing light to this situation. Korean beauty standards are too high. They are Human, not superhuman. The double standard for women idols is disgusting.
With all their effort and time some of their haters don see these things before hating on them it's not easy to keep fit
Saying cruel thing about them is unfair
Hating on them is bad
6:02 me and my mom are both anemic and i can tell you ITS HELL.
This was very interesting but very Heart breaking, thank u for the vidéo 😢
We need to keep in mind that they also have to go through their menstruation (if they're healthy enough to get it...), so the dehydratation, lack of nutrition and heavy exercise paired with loss of blood is a really bad combo... I strongly sympatize with female idols, espacially the ones that suffer during their period and have no other choice than to work. You go girls.
That one jungkooks performance in an orange sweater
Reminds me of recently that clip of Jake from Enhypen, he burst into tears while performing Criminal Love.
Yes. Exactly. It is a combination of extreme diet + tiredness
Friends... my Heart truly was Broken 💔😔 for all them !!
jimin also had a diet that he only ate apple for months in blood sweats and tear’s eta i was so sick in that mv bts
7:36 bro when I.n fainted I was in literal shock
It reminds me of jungkook's fire dance performance when he got unconcious🥺
11:02 for Wonho I believe he dislocated his shoulder on stage here.
I wish I could give you 1,000,000 upvotes.
JUNGKOOK overworked himself countless times too ....his health was so bad that time...
Ben decided to explore the dark side of kpop now
every time i've gone to an indoor kpop concert, they use all kinds of fog machines and lighters and lasers and it makes ME want to pass out.... the air is thick and hot and it's hard to breathe or see, on the floor or even in the stands. i genuinely cannot imagine performing on stage in those conditions, with spotlights, and hard dance moves, and makeup, and costume, and singing/rapping. insane.
Idols doesn't deserve to be treated like that just for them to work hard and still get hate that's unfair🥺💗
Each k-pop idol get tried from hard working or from diet most of them collapse in the back stage and others collapse in stage
I was waiting for when LeeKnow collapsed in last performance because he has done 4 stages on that day and travelling here and there without a break
I´m pretty sure most of the time when these Female Idols faint or just are rlly unwell the reason are their Period cramps. In some clips u can cleary see them holding their Stomachs
ur absolutely right about the diet issue
so true, their diet keeps them at bare minimum, those videos where they faint are most likely a result of low sugar levels
7:50 it wasn’t only I.N suffering during the performance. hyunjin also collapsed because he had a arm injury. chan was also in chest pain.
I'm pretty sure the back up dancers also collapsed after the stage as well
I wonder which MAMA performance was it that I.N. collapsed...
Excuse me? What??!!
@@DrAmber2004 what?
This video is amazing❤
I had swine flu as a kid, it is the only time I was ever so sick I hallucinated. How on earth she managed to perform on a stage multiple days I will never be able to understand.
"Love yall from the heat of MY BOTTOM" 😭😭😭😭
i think for joy, you can see her quickly take off her in ear monitors, so maybe her in-ears bursted and it was loud in her ears so she obviously got scared
I feel like idols deserve better bc they are humans that still have blood and skin and sometimes they get tired or bleed. 😭
I just want to say that the mc did a lots of DONT’S in that video.
I'm keep'n it buss'n!!!
I collapse everywhere lmao and i become okay in an hour
Dw guys sometimes its just the lights and standing up for hours just somehow messes your blood flow
No concert no money no money no food
I remember the video of Jungkook after IDOL, he looked very tired (he gave his best as always)
0:55 is she scared🙁aww❤️❤️
this reminded me of when seonghwa from ateez preformed with broken rib 😢
Where is Jungkook?
Ben you better make a video about momo from twice bc I know she’s your type 😂
You should check out cravity moments that every new luvity should know
