Im honestly heartbroken for Carlini that she wasn't picked. I think all 3 setters are amazing, but I thought Carlini fit the best, followed by Poulter, and then Hancock. Carlini and Poulter both flow the best, but I think Carlini has more experience and is more rounded.
Exactly! And I wanted parsons in instead of either hill or bartsch. 25 pts against Brazil deserves an Olympic spot. And she’s get great experience.
@@jaylonjohnson5301 Yeah I agree. I wanted Parsons instead of Hill. I think Bartsch should stay, she is really well rounded and steady. But I think that it is honestly a shocking decision not to play Carlini. They play best with her. I am very curious how they came to pick Hancock over her.

Does the alternates can possibly play.? Lauren must be because she is one of the alternates that was my understanding.,12 selected announced already including that 12s is the libero then I guess it couldn't be only one libero playing through out the entire season.,so Miss Megan is one of the alternates this could possibly Miss L.C can be at the court in time.🙂 I love Miss Lauren Carlini as the main setter.,and I wonder why Carli Lloyd no one remembers or talks about her when she was once the captain of the team and recently one of the setter last season of VNL.?

Hancock and Poulter are so consistent with every single hitter, i'm truly excited for the USA in the olympics. They are just showing they are coming for everything, let's see how it goes when they play against the A teams.
US is very good at isolating the blockers. Good job on the setter. She really knows how to distribute the ball. They're very quick on their transition too.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the sets by Jordyn Poulter? As a University of Illinois fan I had the pleasure to watch her do work. Now on a more World level, and still proving to be one of the best.
This setter (#2) is amazing! And Drews…she’s just a killing machine. I can watch her bounce those balls off the floor all day. This team is deep in talent! Go USA!!

US team turned up with their most experienced players ( Probably need more practice for Tokyo's Olympics) Against Italy's team B, which they didn't do too bad considering.. but I'm not sure how the yanks would've handled Italy's team A, with Egonu and the rest of their talented players, see you at the Olympics ..!

To me, Italy winning one set is a victory! The young Italian girls started playing together less than a month ago! The youngest US player is sister of President Lincoln!

USA's offense is top-notch. The key why they are dominating this VNL was their FD. Wong-Orentes is not appreciated enough for her floor defense. Her consistent and steady digs and passing were the x-factors for setters to set the ball to her spikers. This US team is the team to beat. Let's see if this will also be as dominating vs China's, Italy's, and Serbia's A-teams.
Wong-Orantes has improved immensely, so happy that she made it to the Olympic roster. Though I do feel a little bad for Megan Courtney 😅

I am not seeing VNL this year is a description of Tokyo Olympic,Italia play they C team,China play they B team, Serbia play they B team, while USA, Turkey,Brazil play they A team..
The US announced their Olympic team 1st. It's look too fast to predict but I hope Both team who played their best A team will more READY for Tokyo
I am beginning to think that Kiraly wanted to field team A because he believes his team cannot compete for gold in the Olympics, so at least VNL is assured. In fact, coincidentally, the three favorite teams for the Olympic title race, namely Italy, China and Serbia (especially the first two) are the ONLY teams to have fielded team B or C in this tournament.

@@thegreatcritic8231 Making a ranking of the favorite teams for Olympic gold, I would say that things are like this:
1 - Italy and China
2 - Serbia
3 - United States
4 - Brazil
5 - Russia
Here I am copying a comment I wrote just now addressed to another user (especially consider the last sentence).
Removing Egonu and Drews, Italy seems to me more complete than the USA. De Gennaro is clearly superior to Wong; the middle-blockers, all put together, I think they are stronger than the US ones (they've already shown this in 2018, also receiving the compliments of Kiraly and Akinradewo for the very strong block defense - and I assure you that this year they are stronger than in 2018!); the outside hitters are more or less on the same level, but Miriam Sylla (if she plays well!) is the strongest, as she amply demonstrated at the 2018 World Championships, where she produced an even higher performance than that by Zhu Ting (as also demonstrated by the statistics), and the 2019 European Championships, winning the award for best outside hitter in both competitions.
Re-inserting Egonu and Drews into the comparison, obviously there is no more comparison: Egonu equals at least three or four Drews. The US lacks the phenomenon that can decide matches, especially in the most critical moments, it lacks a points machine like Egonu, Boskovic or Zhu Ting. And in my opinion, I repeat, this is the reason why the USA, Brazil and Russia play VNL with team A, while, coincidentally, Italy, China and Serbia play team B at the same time (but China may play with team A from next week). Otherwise, what is the point of making the best players tire before the Olympics, even risking some injuries, in a difficult and exhausting year like this, to grab a minor prize like the VNL?
An enviable element of the US is certainly their very long bench. It will be easy for Kiraly to make effective rotations to manage the players' energies throughout the tournament. This is very important, considering that the US is in the most difficult group and will have to face Italy, China, Russia and Turkey.
I am quite convinced that Kiraly knows that he doesn't have a super competitive team and therefore he would like to at least secure gold at VNL. But even here the US will have to contend with China, because the champions will be lined up from next week, so that China could win this competition.
Of course it is clear that I'm not saying that the US has no chance of winning the Olympics, I'm just saying that it's not among the most favored teams, which in my opinion are two, Italy and China, and at most , MAYBE, Serbia.
However, we will be able to have a little clearer ideas by watching the USA-China match on June 20, if China will also play with team A.
And of course this is just my opinion and so it could be completely wrong!
@@mariodisarlii3613 well I appreciate the thought...you were right in some points and I disagree in some..2018 sylla is different than 2021 sylla...She's a good OH but there are times that she is really off...that's why Adams replaces her in Imoco if she's not playing well..as for you saying Drews is 3 or 4 times combined to make eguno..thats kinda overrated....eguno is a monster but Drews is also a great opposite...on USA's pool on the olympics...it will be a hard fought battle..China I guess will burst through the pool and USA and Italy will fight for the 2nd spot in the pool to reach the quarter finals...the question is? Why are they putting threw big teams in a single pool?

@@Grateful4Today Absolutely correct!! Karch kept almost all players from Rio and they struggled in Rio. Of course they look good at VNL all other countries brought their B teams. No medal for 🇺🇸 in Tokoyo.

I'd be in be interested to know of the speed of Drew's hits here as an OP. They are at least almost 100 km/h if not more. She's done 90+ km/h so many times before. Thompson has already reached almost up to par with Bosković and Egonu with 103.5 km/h in one of her games in this tournament.

Italy, Serbia and China play in the VNL with team B. Indeed, Italy plays with team C.
United States, Brazil and Russia with team A, which will be more or less equal in the Olympics.
However, China will field team A players starting next week.

No Egonu, De Gennaro, Sylla, Folie, Danesi... reasonable result... To many of you laymen of volleyball it is still not clear that this is not Italy A and not even Italy B, but even Italy C! If the US had lost to this team, it was better if they retired from volleyball forever! We saw, in fact, a match between the Olympic team of the USA and the C team of Italy. And Italy also won a set!!

Why is it that if China vs. USA, China wins. However, if it's between China vs. Italy, Italy wins. But if it's between Italy and USA, USA wins. IDK, which team is really the strongest among the three.
The US needs to be able to perform in “uncomfortable” situations when there are “off” plays.
The US setter is too predictable with her set choices and the ability to produce a set that allows her hitters options.

Wew...I can certainly say that Poulter's distribution was on point in this game...both of her open spikers especially bartch got a lot of spikes...have you seen italy or serbia? Most often when in tough situations their opposite almost hit every ball....

If you only take the ones you see on team A and then think of three or four others who are left out, like Carlini and Adams, this happens for any country which produces many high-level players, such as Italy, Serbia, China, Russia, Brazil. But you broaden the view and you will see that there are a LOT of players who cannot be considered equal to Drews, Hill, Poulter or Bartsch. Do you think Rebecca Latham can play in team A of the national team? But neither Faucette nor Lanier could play it. Don't tell me Kingdon, W. Johnson, Mitchem, Abbott are also deserving of team A! And if Rachel Adams can barely enter it, it's only because the roster has slightly declined compared to the past, otherwise she could not enter it because, compared to four years, she has declined sharply.
I have the impression that you know very little about the US players distributed in the various leagues of the world.

I'm aware that over 200 may have been more U.S players who went to play in various leagues around the world in 2019 I'm not sure how active Volleyball was during 2020. Addams is the only player you named that I was even aware was still in the national team.
As for Lauren from what I can tell popular opinion is that she's team USA's best setter so I wouldn't call her a B stringer.

I think many of the comments talking about how your favorite player in the us team has not chosen for this match. Because i think i have already get what the set up Coach Kiraly wants. In every 3 days they chose ahead among the players who will play against with for every match. They do this 1. to avoid for the oppnents to read each players technique of playing and 2. Make a good set players to be ready to go for olympics and thirdly to make good rest coz its long week of playing.
This is only my observation.
Dale 24 in VNL yes. He mixes up because players are older. Need more rest. Karch only strategy is the less and less action you see the more likely you are to be cut. Before he announced any 12 member roster for Tokoyo Carlini Plummer Dixon Tapp Parson and Courtney had suspicions they were going to be cut because he quit playing them. Karch has no interest in developing younger talent. No courage. He sticks with the old and loses. He is not a great coach. Mediocre. Look at China's dominance and it's a result of their coach continuing to find and develope younger players. Cut Carlini ..big mistake.

The intercontinental qualification already transpired..and Italy, Serbia, USA, Russia, China topped and pools and qualified, on the continental...Turkey, Dominican Republic, Korea, and Kenya qualified...if there are missing team in my list kindly google it
@@blfanatics8601 Italy's club teams are as of now the strongest in the world..Tho that is not the point haha...I would say Italy is a dynamic team but with the over dominance of Eguno...and degenaro...both sylla and bosetti are defensive OH..they need offensive OH to start if they want to win gold...as evidence..with their A team...Im not sure if they even reached the finals in cev...but Im certain Serbia won the cev title...
And it seemed you have more doubts in USA than Italy haha...USA and Italy almost always qualifies in the.olympics....I cant understand your stand of if USA will qualify or not..of course they are qualified...
