We only have a flat range but we can run up to 50 yards on the pistols and shooting at 25+ really puts a spin on things.

      @@WhiteDragonSecurity I own several, and they definitely have issues. Most of all with holding zero with optics, or being accurate out past about 25yd since the gun wobbles so much in the clamshell. I would like to figure out a clever way to get rid of the wobble because they are fun to shoot, but as soon as I got my hands on a B&T USW320 the Recover rigs got thrown waaaay back in the pecking order.

    • @WhiteDragonSecurity
      @WhiteDragonSecurity ปีที่แล้ว

      @@innercityprepper I could definitely see the plastic-to-plastic-to-optic add-on option causing the wobble issue, but if your optic is slide mounted, the issue is non-existent.

    • @innercityprepper
      @innercityprepper ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WhiteDragonSecurity I've got with with the plastic optic mount and one with the "GB20" which is a metal glass breaker front end, but the actual flex that causes zero shift out past a certain range seems to be less the material than the fact that the gun can wobble inside the frame, and the frame is what the optic is "zeroed" to (as it's attached to the brace itself) -- all that said, yes slide-mounted optic would solve that. However when you count the price of an optic-cut slide and a decent optic there goes the savings from going with a Recover. At that point you could go with a (now finally available) Flux and a cheap/good optic like a Romeo5 and have a better setup all around for roughly the same price.

    Concise, detailed, and well-explained review as always. Opinions on using that Steiner MPS vs. an ACRO when the optic has to be that close to your face? I know the T-2 is a better option but the gun I'm using pulls out of the bag much easier with the pistol optics.
    I thoroughly enjoyed your videos on the civilian PDW concept and the get home bag! If I may contribute something: In addition to on-body concealability, one of the criteria you mention for a PDW is that the gun be able to fit into a bag without becoming the predominant object in said bag. With that in mind I posit that a bag with a separate, dedicated laptop compartment is ideal.
    A separate compartment with its own zipper or buckle allows the user to access the rest of the bag with no chance of accidentally revealing the gun while still maintaining rapid accessibility. There is a greatly decreased risk of the PDW snagging on another item during deployment. Laptop messenger bags and backpacks are also quite common in many places and thus do not stand out. Finally, the gun can be more quickly (and safely) stowed if one wishes to return to the covert state and on-body concealment is not an option.
    Your definition of a PDW as having a

As far as a PDW goes you have to spend money to add a mounting point for a stock and its heavier then the TP9 but it competes in size. It also has 1/2 - 28 thread pitch making it easier to suppress. @That_Guy5575 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    So here’s a take that I’m sure won’t get a favorable response:
    What about 3-D printed PDW’s? There’s LOADS of these pistol based PDW designs out there, including those that work with the FN FNS, Sig 320, and most importantly: Glock. Check out Digital Nimbus’s Invader designs, for example.
    From everything I’ve read, seen, and heard, when printed with the right settings and filament, these frames are plenty durable enough. I don’t know if I’d necessarily say ‘just as good’ as factory mold injected frames, but I would say ‘good enough’. Especially when printed out of either glass filled nylon or carbon fiber filled nylon in a proper manner.
    This opens up the world of PDW possibilities, especially since many of these are Glock-based designs. For example: you can print a small framed design and put a G35 slide on it, with a simple barrel change you can shoot 357 Sig, 40 S&W, or 9mm. Or if you print the large framed Invader Heavy, you can put a G41 slide on it and shoot 45 ACP or 10mm with a barrel and mag change. Or if you REALLY want to get crazy with it: 460 Rowland.
    Plus, these all have a stationary Pic rail on top for mounting optics, and most feature a rail mounted brace like the Flux Raider.
    Just some food for thought, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

    • @BrassFacts
      @BrassFacts  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      if you could make a durable enough one sure. And one day that will happen.
      But, personally for me. None of them seem to hit the threshold yet. They seem to hold together for 200-500 rounds tops.
      You also run into issues where any (and I mean any) flex results in loss of zero. Unless you have a very expensive 3D printer, the materials you have access to just don't really work for the task at hand imo.

    • @That_Guy5575
      @That_Guy5575 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrassFacts Appreciate the response, I'd have to agree with what you're saying.
      Would you have any interest in testing one out if it were made of a suitable material, say glass or carbon fiber filled nylon? I have a Bambu X1 Carbon coming in the mail tomorrow and a roll of PA6-GF that just came in the mail today, destined for such builds. I wouldn't be able to provide an entire/complete build (simply can't afford that, sorry), but I would be able to send a complete frame if that's of any interest to you. Of course, it'll be a bit since I still have to setup the printer and get the hang of it, but I'd be very willing to send a frame or two for testing if you have the time/interest. I also intend to try some carbon fiber filled nylon, I'd like to see firsthand how they both hold up over time.

      In the meantime, I'll do some testing to the extent that I can (ie: afford) and if things go well, I'll try to contact you later if you're still interesting in tinkering with one or two.
      Thanks for continuously lacking the self-control to not post videos, I greatly enjoy your content and learn a lot from it.
