Refreshing to see a well-made video by someone who actually knows what they're doing! So much so that I've subscribed. Thanks for helping me fix my old Nokia 8. Bummer my replacement screens didn't come with any of that black mastic adhesive that sits around the edge of the frame, because it's very difficult to remove an old broken screen without losing some of that adhesive / sealant. I can't imagine the thin strips of double-sided tape that came with my replacement screen will offer particularly good weatherproofing, and they barely hold the screen in place. Oh well. Watching from Australia.
Interesting about the tape and adhesive. My battery is on the way out and thought I'd buy a replacement but yeah getting adhesive for the screen is a concern to me given I'll be messing up the current stuff to get to the battery. I also don't have a heat gun so a bit concerned about that as well. Wonder if I should fine d a repairer who probably has all the gear to do this properly and adhesive the screen back in place.
Until 2017 I only had phones were the battery was easy swappable by removing the backside, which was hold by clip or a single screw. I got my Nokia8 in 2017 right after it's release. Now the battery needs to be replaced as it barely keeps the phone running for half an hour on battery-saver mode. Tried to engage several "phone maintenance shops", but no one could help with such an old phone, because no one has those batteries around. Found a suitable shop, which is at least selling some trustworthy replacement batteries, but none of the shops I've been to before would allow a repair with "bring your own battery" for warranty reasons. So I'm sitting here thinking about replacing the battery myself. But honestly, watching the video just gave me more doubts. How much heat is needed to get the adhesive soft enough, but not damaging the hardware? How easy is it to break the glass while inserting the tools to lift it up? And how should double-sided tape hold it all together after I cannot re-use the old adhesive? I've never done this stuff before and I don't want to risk messing it all up. By the way, I am writing this from Finland, the home of Nokia phones and I am very frustrated that local dealers and maintenance shops are not even able to get Nokia-branded original replacement parts.
*love from India* *I think no other channel do this type of teardown, u always teardown all phones, i am always curious to see whats inside a phone. Please also mention processor ram on motherboard*
Just watched the video from the Netherlands, I still use it after 5 years! Looks and works as new even after a few tumbles and drops. Nice to see how it looks from the inside 👍
1 Year after the release of this vid, from southern Spain. I ordered a nokia 8 yesterday, that will arrive in a few days =) Thanks for this great video, the durability one, and all the otheres that i've checked before picking this nokia 8 as my phone.

Yo Jerry, the comment is a bit late but I got my Nokia 8 after watching these Nokia 8 vids of yours. I am from South Africa and love watching your vids. Keep it up and thanks for all your info
Netherlands! Also that phone looks well put together, even if it's not easy to take apart. Pretty jealous to see how controlled you plug and unplug everything. I wonder how much cutting you do to make it look this smooth :D.
From Philippines.. I always watch your every video before I buy one of those phones you've tested. Your videos are so helpful. Keep it up, thanks a lot 😀👍👍
Random 5% stateside subscriber reporting in and enjoy keeping tabs on Nokia. 2:32 It's fantastic how Nokia separated their components like that. *clarified from earlier comment where I stated that it's fantastic that they made battery replacement easier.
klklkl427586 Clarified my comment. Easier in terms of separating and replacing components. Having a removable panel is going to be easiest, but having components separated as they are here could help with repairs on sealed unibody phones. That's my take from what Zack was explaining.
I just found your channel a week ago, but I've loved pretty much with this. Watching your videos for almost every hour, wondering how amazing are these phones look at the interior. And of course this is my hobby to teardown every gadget's and tools that I have. So that's why I loved it too much. But now, my country just mentioned, yeah of course Indonesia is where I came from! *Sorry about my English, I'm on study with it
Got my Nokia 8 back in the day and it has aged and the battery is giving up now. Watching how difficult it is to repair this guy, I'm gonna pass. Can't spend extra bucks on a new screen in addition to the expense of the battery. *sigh* I'll have to get a new phone and lay this guy to rest. It was a great phone as long as it worked. Thumbs up to Nokia. Jerry, it'd be great if you could make a video on how durable current smartphone batteries are? Please do. Thank you.
Your tear downs are very knowledgeable to people who are in need of some mobile phone knowledge regarding the internals..I am from India 🇮🇳 n I love your destruction & cruelty over every phone..😁😁👍👍
i'm from Finland the home of Nokia. I have this phone and it has nice krack on the screen and need to fix is some time so I needed some fixing tutorials for myself but now I know i'm not going to do it myself. Keep up the good work
Watching from Denmark. Thanks for sharing! I keep replacing the screen when it's broken on my Nokia 8, because except from the screen it works perfect (incl. the battery) here 4 year after purchase.
Drained about 50% of my battery on a Nokia 8 from the Netherlands while watching this video. Cheers for showing me the steps to replace this battery!
