NBA players are very good and a lot of them could put up over 20 points a game in a losing effort. It's a legit point. They made it against Westbrook and Harden when they got 30 and were losing games.
I think ESPN is missing the boat on this whole "Wemby wont wait around for the Spurs". First, who says he will need to. The team is stacked with young talent and cheap role players, they are perfectly positioned for the future. Two, Wemby is 20 years old and has 6 more years with the Spurs after this season minimum (2 on his rookie deal, 4 on his first max deal, which no player in NBA history has refused resigning the first max). Three, and most importantly, Wemby is a childhood Spurs fan, he grew up looking up to Tim Duncan/Tony Parker/Manu all of which are people that are involved with the Spurs in one way or another for the rest of time. They are there to provide support and be there, and you can see in him the impact of those great players in how mature he is. Wemby is likely a Spurs for life, because he doesn't blame others for not winning, he blames himself. So he won't look for a quick easy win like all of the American players in recent times. No one is talking about the Nuggets being on the clock cause Jokic isn't leaving. This is the same thing. Wemby is a Spur, I am sorry ESPN you don't get your wise of Wemby in a big market where you can all chill in your large houses while covering Wemby
ESPN is STILL trying to push the narrative that Wemby isnt going to be happy in SA if they are losing. The Spurs are .500 right now and, had a few calls gone differently, beat the Knicks. They had Bassey and Collins on the bench and xouldnt rebound when Wemby was out. Thats weird. But the starters are pretty good. And they have some competent bench players. And more draft picks than roster spots. The Spurs will be fine. Stop trying to send Wemby somewhere else. It's not happening. He's been a Spurs fan since he was a kid and trusts Pop and the front office to get it right.
Get used to that narrative. Do you remember when a bunch of news outlets were trying to say SGA would want out of OKC because his timeline for winning was different than the Thunder's? People were writing articles about teams who should try and trade for SGA when there was no indication that he was getting disgruntled at all. When you have a young star, people are always going to be concerned if he's going to stay with his initial team until they make the playoffs and/or sign their first max contract.
@kcsupersonic1 They started saying it last year. Wemby wasn't even halfway done with his first season. 😆🤦🏻♂️ ESPN HATES that Wemby is in SA. They've been throwing out the Lakers so blatantly it's ridiculous
That’s what they do they put out a false narrative about him not being happy with loses. Not just espn. Most fans as well. All i see is a player who is all business and ultra competitive and hates to lose. The “im not here to make friends or lose mentality” It is refreshing actually to see this mindset again. The likes we have only ever seen from mj and kobe. Not saying he is going to be like them. But it is a start and sign that he genuinely wants to be great at what he does.
@El_Baka And when he says something is unacceptable, he's blaming himself as well. He's not calling out the team, absent him. He's included in that criticism.
Wemby is incredible. He will have the best peak in NBA history. We have never seen a big man with this skillset. I knew he could shoot before he got drafted, but I never expected him to be like this. He shoots high volume 3s and has decent efficiency. Hes still only 20, he will only get better. Then there’s the incredible defense and paint domination. Plus that Kobe/MJ type mentality to compete and he the best! His game really doesn’t have much of a weakness besides his own mistakes sometimes and his team being inexperienced. The only thing that could stop him at this point is injury. Players his size have a bad history of injury, but Wemby seems to be avoiding that pretty well so far. Would be a shame to see injury derail his career, so let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
Good discussion, you forget to talk about Stephon Castle, a very high potential player. He have just to improve his shoot, he's not to far to be excellent..

Brian and MacMahon will say something and then Bontemps every time in his condescending way will say something is wrong with their argument and then say the SAME EXACT THING. Truly don’t understand how Brian and MacMahon can continue to do this.
D Fox and Mike Brown went toe to toe with a still prime Steph and a good Golden State team. The front office in Sacramento just doesn't know how to build a team, this is not on Fox or Mike Brown, they both performed well when the had better personnel.
Bontemps ain't lying about Fox. He's good but he's not a needle mover in terms of contention in the West. But when you put him with wemby I think his impact multiplys but I understand the push back in terms of keeping your powder dry for someone else more impactful but the thing is WHEN AND WHO is that guy that'll be available. Idk if wemby wants to wait and keep being irrelevant like that. Especially since he's in San Antonio where tim was great and won right away. Lot of pressure there.
I still think it's Trae Young. His shot making, gravity and passing would perfectly compliment Wemby. Keep Vassell as a 3rd scorer and Castle as a defender while his offensive game gets better and the Spurs are SCARY. If Sochan stays, there's plenty of defense around Trae.
@@dvs620 but trae isn't going anywhere. the hawks finally look like they have a reasonably constructed roster and they're still young so they have no reason to blow it up
@@dvs620 Trae is certainly making a better case for it this season with the hawks performance. On the other hand, might be more reasons for him to stay in ATL/the hawks to keep him. Kind of annoyed at their luck in getting a decent player through a surprise #1 pick but we’ll see how the season goes. A pick from Atlanta is better than than no pick from Atlanta.
@phoenixkane1986 The Hawks had every incentive to be good this season because they don't control their picks for the next 3 seasons, including not having a pick this year and in 2027. The picks are less valuable now because the Hawks are decent AND the East is good awful. But they can still get good players for them or with them.
@Jeremy-ot6pb Yeah, he's not. Plus the East is WEAK right now. They had their chance in the summer. Having said that, the Hawks aren't out of the woods yet. They don't have a pick this year, the Spurs can swap their pick next year, then they don't have their pick again the following year. It's a long shot, but Trae could see that the team can't really improve the next 3 years and the Spurs have Wemby, who's already arguably a top 10 player in the league and multiple avenues to get better. Plus Castle and Vassell as running mates.
Bontemps is not a compliment to this trio when the conversation swings to him. Hey Timmy B, Wemby went score less in the last 6 minutes. Is that luck or great Knicks defense?
Nah, both teams were going back and forth with missing shots and then being on fire. Knicks just ended on their turn. Bridges/Knicks played lights out on their turn, Spurs didn't. Two very casual plays that resulted in turnovers both by Julian, he wasn't playing with caution or intensity at all after hitting all them 3's. He acted like they had it in the bag. Knicks took advantage and got the win. As a Spurs fan, we've seen worse (2013 finals, D Fischer, T Mac) a loss is a loss
It's the fact that his dumb rookie head coach played him 40 min. He isn't conditioned for that. He doesn't play for Thibs. Plus the team went away from him

You're doing a fantastic job! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
i domt understand why the celtics have this mile long leash that they can just keep losing games and no one blinks an eye
Bontemps is the reason I will no longer listen to this podcast.
FINALLY NO LAKERS OR DUSTY WARRIORS ON THE TITLE!!!!
How you talk about all Christmas games except that suns vs nuggets.
Did Bontemps find another job yet?
I’m also not certain Fox is the answer for San Antonio. You’ve only got some many chances for a big acquisition.
I can see klay Thompson stepping up some
Bontemps must not have had a lot of friends growing up, & we all are witnessing why.
I wonder how dangerous Luka would be if he took strength and conditioning seriously.
How has ESPN not top-graded the talent with their podcasts, this is just bad
Rip my boy Luka
how long's he out for though?
@@kaysheye7784atleast a month
Dude it is not 6 months 😅😅😅 if he comes back, maybe they can make a tough run
@ you’re right. Wemby is a mismatch for everyone but I think Bontempts is a biased NYK hater.
It's the fact that his dumb rookie head coach played him 40 min. He isn't conditioned for that. He doesn't play for Thibs. Plus the team went away from him
Luka 25 and is breaking down
He's great but you are right. He's prone to injury.
@robertvaldez2924 And is never in shape 😢
@@CoachRJ334 funny how those two things tend to go together
He, Joel and Zion don't treat their bodies well. Once you have bad eating habits for years and you start getting injuries, it's a wrap.
14 years as a pro playing 2 seasons a calender year. He's busted.
This feels like USWB asked to take Lowe's spot and they correctly laughed in his face. He needs to go back to writing, he was good at that. Too much negativity and speaking from authority, even in the presence of equally qualified sports reporters
Knicks got 2 less win than the Celtics with a brand new roster…yet they pick apart the Knicks schedule 😂😂😂😂
