  • About the recording:
This recording is part of a cassette tape of Philippine political songs from 1957 which is part of the Wilgus D.K. collection in the University of California Los Angeles Library.
    About Paredes:
Quintín Babila Paredes Sr. (September 9, 1884 - January 30, 1973), was a Filipino lawyer, politician, and statesman. In the Philippine elections of 1949, Paredes topped the Senatorial race as a candidate of the Liberal Party. He briefly became the President of the Philippine Senate in 1952, and was reelected as a Philippine Senator in 1955, finishing his second term in 1961. Retiring from politics in 1963, Paredes died ten years later in Manila.
    Additional Notes:
Regarding Paredes's presidential run, I cannot find as of now any resource (either online or physical) detailing this aspect of his political career. It is clear that he did not become the official candidate of the Liberal Party (LP) and the Nacionalista Party (NP), the two major political parties of the Third Philippine Republic. The only evidence I can find of this candidacy are these two political campaign jingles from the Wilgus D.K. collection of the UCLA Library, dating to around 1957. It is probable that Paredes tried to contest the presidential nomination of his party, the Liberal Party, in 1957. This aspect of Paredes's political career requires further research to corroborate and expound on its veracity. Those who have more information or resources in this topic are welcome to comment and share insights.

I'm grateful for him opening the eyes of people for what a once politician and still aspiring maybe or not whom i won't name , as to what he did to my grandpa , mom's dad - me and lots of cousins from early on never got the chance to meet him , i hope when you to go God if your time's up he will be kind to you but then to those who still remembers and knows the true events well , sad to say its horrific and traumatic , just like how some people still butcher and eat dogs in our province
