You need a day to spend with your boys. It may be hard to believe now, but the grow up so fast. My daughter is in her early 50s. I don’t know where the time went, but you’ll never get it back. Enjoy your boy growing up. Spend the day off with them. I can tell how much you love them and what a good father you are so enjoy them.
Dan is with his kids a lot during the week. He frequently has weekday childcare duties. Unlike fathers who are at the office all week, Dan's "office" is at the house where they live a lot of times.
Hi Dan! You’re such a hard worker! Yeah; take a day for Dan!! We will all be here when you get back to us! Thank you for all the funnies!! Laughter is the best part of friendship, and from what I read from your other subscribers ... you’re just an exceptionally likable guy!! - one “good-friend” idea: Go buy a little plastic stool to sit on when you are working on things close to the ground. It will save your back and your knees! All the best to you! 😊
Plastic kiddie chairs are great to sit on when doing "ground work," weeding & masonry. Even a plastic adult chair with the legs cut to size works well.
Glad you heard what we were saying and taking Sundays off. You need to do that for physical and mental well-being. Let alone, you need a day to do laundry, buy groceries, buy building supplies and see those adorable little boys of yours.
Hi Dan, just a suggestion for you. When you lower thr rubber bucket with the tiles in, wrap the rope naround the hand rail on the scaffolding tower and you will have far better control of its desent because of the friction. Keep up the good work and dont burn out!!
There's bad weather on the way Dan. Have you covered up the Barn roof with that tarpaulin you mentioned? Really glad you are going to have a family day off. A day with your kids is always a treat. ❤
I know that Dan seems to feel that he is part mountain goat and impervious to the forces of gravity, but my heart is in my mouth when he is retrieving the tiles from the barn roof and then applying those same tiles to the new addition’s roof. I know that I am not alone. Gah!
Roof is really coming along fast Dan. I like very much the garden entrance. You are a great decision maker and level headed. Looking forward to your next move.
I hope your Sundays really include a bit of rest for yourself at least every so often. I can tell you from experience, it will catch up with you eventually, no matter how much you love what you are doing. You are an incredibly hard worker, Danling. Patience is not your thing? Noooooo! Surely, you jest! 💗
Omg, I just heard you say patience is not your thing!? I'm always amazed at your patience. With your work, with your boys, with Stephanie. Lol jk.I love watching you all. I admire you and the work you do.
He always wants to just get on with the job, though. He's terrible at waiting around and always tries to keep himself busy doing something. But his willingness to take-on mind numbingly repetitive work is def a virtue.
The addition is coming along really well now so it won't be long before you can check off another project. I'm glad you are going to take Sundays off you need time to rest at least once a week. Take care, Kathy 🇺🇸
You work very hard Dan, taking Sundays off is a good idea as it gives you breathing space and your less likely to burn out. Your doing such a great job, look after yourself 💕🇦🇺
Reminds me of this "accident report" Dear Sir: I am writing in response to your request for additional information in Block #3 of the accident reporting form. I put "Poor Planning" as the cause of my accident. You asked for a fuller explanation and I trust the following details will be sufficient. I am a bricklayer by trade. On the day of the accident, I was working alone on the roof of a new six-story building. When I completed my work, I found I had some bricks left over which when weighed later were found to weigh 240 lbs. Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to lower them in a barrel by using a pulley which was attached to the side of the building at the sixth floor. Securing the rope at ground level, I went up to the roof, swung the barrel out and loaded the bricks into it. Then I went down and untied the rope, holding it tightly to insure a slow descent of the 240 lbs of bricks. You will note on the accident reporting form that my weight is 135 lbs. Due to my surprise at being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I lost my presence of mind and forgot to let go of the rope. Needless to say, I proceeded at a rapid rate up the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel which was now proceeding downward at an equally impressive speed. This explains the fractured skull, minor abrasions and the broken collarbone, as listed in Section 3, accident reporting form. Slowed only slightly, I continued my rapid ascent, not stopping until the fingers of my right hand were two knuckles deep into the pulley which I mentioned in Paragraph 2 of this correspondence. Fortunately by this time I had regained my presence of mind and was able to hold the rope, in spite of the excruciating pain I was now beginning to experience. At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground-and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Now devoid of the weight of the bricks, the barrel weighed approximately 50 lbs. I refer you again to my weight. As you might imagine, I began a rapid descent down the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel coming up. This accounts for the two fractured ankles, broken tooth and severe lacerations of my legs and lower body. Here my luck began to change slightly. The encounter with the barrel seemed to slow me enough to lessen my injuries when I fell into the pile of bricks and fortunately only three vertebrae were cracked. I am sorry to report, however, as I lay there on the pile of bricks, in pain, unable to move and watching the empty barrel six stories above me, I again lost my composure and presence of mind and let go of the rope.
Don't run yourself into the ground Dan. Life isn't meant to be all work and no play/rest! Time goes by so quickly, enjoy your little ones while they still like hanging out with you, before you know it, they will be shunning you! LOL!
my my my.... that is a mighty pretty plastery lime job out there in the planters, I think by the time you have to do some of that plastering at the Chateau, its gonna be top notch!!!!
Half way point on the roof looks good. Good choice to repurpose the tiles from the barn. Blends in good. Agree for you to take a day off. While I always enjoy seeing your smiling face and upbeat personality...you need to rest and take care of yourself.
Yes that is sensible re Sundays. U need a breathing space. That was a lot of work Dan. Looks bloody fantastic. I’ll b relieved for u when that roofs done!
Good for you! Especially after the heck of a week you had last week. About time you do something to take care of yourself. Enjoy the day off. And I’m sure you”ll make up for it the rest of the week. Take care is most important...and thanks for the really cool videos.
Hi Dan, I'm loving your work ethic and show casing actual artisanal/engineering skills. learning a lot. you're streets ahead of some renovation channels that focus on recipes and interior decorating tips. well done on the legacy you're creating. forsa!
Glad to hear you are planning to take Sundays off from the Vlog! We love to see your videos, but/and we support you taking time for yourself and your family! Life is about balance! Cheers! You’re doing great!!
You deserve a day off. Relax. The way you are climbing the scaffolding, scrabbling over the barn roof, and scaling your new building work, you are going to fill out with muscle. Look out Amaury!
I love how you throw that bucket around. It cracks me up. Pushing your trap door up and knocking the bucket down off the scaffolding made me laugh so hard lol😂. I’m glad I’m not the only one who works like this lol. Glad you’re doing a bit of self care and taking Sundays off mate. We get it. Big hugs from Australia.
Tie a loop in the end of the rope attached to the bucket and hang it on one of the scaffolding Poles, that way the bucket will as always be attached and available to hoist up and lower down, no forgetting to bring the bucket up.
Good morning Team ❤ Dan sadly working on your own…slow and steady wins the race … Those tiles are definitely a slow repetitious job 😢 but once they’re done then that one off the list ❤ Glad your having a Sunday break 😊 I’ve got 4 more daily blogs to watch and I’m up to speed from your very beginning to today What am I going to do now with my spare time !!! I’m going to have Dan withdrawals 🤣🤣
The roof is coming up so well. Yes that creates a roof issue for the barn. But a comfy, cohesive house is so good for your boys. Take that day off and just breathe.
A change really is as good as a rest. Chasing wee boys instead of roof tiles will do all of you a world of good. Looking closer at the barn this time I realise why it makes so much sense to transfer those tiles. I finally noticed the right hand half has different (more modern?) tiles. Good aesthetic decision. As some others have said, I hope you have a quick cover on hand. The east side of GB had Amber warnings for snow. Woke up to it here in Derry, where its rare. Proper bite to the temperature too.
You are like a cat climbing up there on those roofs. I was never good with heights except when climbing trees. Glad you will take Sundays off from working. 👍👍😁
Taking Sundays (or any day) off is a good plan as everyone needs organizing time as well as a little rest. We will be watching regardless, so don’t worry about us. Just be you doing your thing and we will be happy. 😊
Hi there it looked like you were having a hard time with the cement, in Italia they use a piping bag to get it into the rock cracks then add the rest of the cement after. love your DIY
Hey Dan! You've probably figured this out by now, but... Take up at least three buckets at a time, with ropes attached, so you can lower them down without having to get up and down that many times. And, might I suggest some pulleys and a larger bit of scaffold? You'll eventually need them for the chateau. And larger/wider scaffold would be a lot safer! You're giving me a heart attack watching you climbing around on that rood in wellies, and alone.😘
You deseerve one day off a week by golly, you work hard every day Dan! We will just have to wait untill Mondays to see you and your great Smile! We are all looking forward to Chateau work! Take care Dan😄
Dan, if I might make a suggestion: By now you have an idea of how many tiles are needed per row. If you take off the tiles from the barn and place them close to the scaffolding in as many piles as possible, you'll spend less time clambering across the barn roof. Also, try gloves with rubber interiors - they'll save you from letting go of the rope too soon and burns in your palms. You make me think of a crab at times, climbing here and there across roofs. Where I live, roofers used asphalt shingles that are flat and rubbery. It saves on climbing up and down as they come in packages of 50's 2 ft x 5 ft. Might this be a better option for the front part? They would certainly be lighter in weight. Must say, I love your work with lime render. The end result is so satisfying.
I would think it ok to take the weekend, Sat & Sun off, to rest up from physical work. Relaxing might be under rated... When I do a real good relax in, I get more work done, in the end. See ya tamarra!
Dan your work ethic is amazing! Yes, do be safer ... The wall looks great, good job! You need a day of rest Dan. We all should take that day. All the best!
You did massive work !! You rendered beautifully the walls look great. The inside stone wall is slowly getting filled in and patched. The roof is done in the front of the house. Dan you did a great deal for a person alone. Best of all you wore boots!!! I was amazed !🤣👏no high top sneakers. I am still praying on good leather work boots 🤔 just a thought.🤣.
Good for you for taking a day off the vlogs. I think you are very patient. Patience is my life lesson. If you are not patient then there is no hope for me.😂
We all have our own way of doing things. Do it how you want. It’s easy to criticize when your watching someone work on TH-cam. You just inspire me to get things done at my place 😊 About time you took a day off 🎉🎉
Hi Dan, I enjoy watching your Dailies. This is your outlet and content - the frequency is up to you and if you take a day (or several days) off, that's great! Do what you need to do. That being said, have you considered using a simple pully system from the side of your platform so the bucket for the roof tiles falls more gently and there is less breakage?
For not having patience, you are certainly developing it. You have so much to complete. I find you miraculous. The lack of patience is on my part. You are impressive with all the stuff you experience, like broke down vehicles, and no permanent place to stay. You are excellent at rendering. What is that camper deal outside the barn? Do you own it?
work you do is great. and very dedicated to what you are doing. If you can next time you go Brico pick up some work gloves - Heavy duty grip gloves. watching you put the bucket down from the scaffolding or the roofing tiles just think some work gloves may save your hands. Just a suggestion from the great white north. LOL Canada. Keep up the great work.
I'm glad to hear you are taking a day off. We'll done Dan 👏
Sounds like a busy day off, catching up and running around buying materials! I wish he would take REAL days off!
You deserve a day off
@@grannyontheplane I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm not sure Dan knows how to truly relax, rest, sit and do nothing.
So glad. Smart move.
When are you starting the château restoration?
You need a day to spend with your boys. It may be hard to believe now, but the grow up so fast. My daughter is in her early 50s. I don’t know where the time went, but you’ll never get it back. If ever there was a need for a cherry picker, or an assistant, this is it! It seems you don't let anything stop you! Taking a day off is wise!
There's bad weather on the way Dan. Have you covered up the Barn roof with that tarpaulin you mentioned? Really glad you are going to have a family day off. A day with your kids is always a treat. ❤
Dan the newly tiled roof looks splendid.
So does the rendering. See ya tomorrow.
Cheers
Taking a day off is a great idea! 🎉
Well done, Dan you definitely deserve Sunday’s off
The house and roof is looking great Dan! Enjoy Sundays off.
I know that Dan seems to feel that he is part mountain goat and impervious to the forces of gravity, but my heart is in my mouth when he is retrieving the tiles from the barn roof and then applying those same tiles to the new addition’s roof. I know that I am not alone. Gah!
Good job on the roof! Well done on you taking Sunday off! Family time is so important and not enough people see it value!!
Good to hear you're taking a day off. You need it - mostly to help recharge yourself.
Roof is really coming along fast Dan. I like very much the garden entrance. You are a great decision maker and level headed. Looking forward to your next move.

Great progress Dan a day of rest is what the mind body and soul need.
I admire the way you keep going, especially on your own and very cold. Sunday off a good idea. You will burn out if not. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🍷🍷
About time too!! Look after you Dan & everyone here will be happy xxhugs from England xx❤

Time off is a good thing. You have a family and your own needs to take care of. We’ll still be here.
You are doing a great job Dan.

Good to hear for your Sundays indeed very important lot of respect for the scary roof work!
Yes that is sensible re Sundays. U need a breathing space. That was a lot of work Dan. Looks bloody fantastic. I’ll b relieved for u when that roofs done!

God commanded a day of rest. So good to see you honoring that. Awesome job Dan. It is looking beautiful. God Bless
More like France has some laws about making noise on Sundays, as they do in Germany.
Tie a loop in the end of the rope attached to the bucket and hang it on one of the scaffolding Poles, that way the bucket will as always be attached and available to hoist up and lower down, no forgetting to bring the bucket up.
That’s very sensible-we will happily wait. You need to rest😊
I'm just grateful to see ya when I see ya! I'm also grateful NOT to see you tumbling off that roof! Like Thomas says "be careful"!
❤️❤️❤️
Good morning Team ❤
Dan sadly working on your own…slow and steady wins the race …
Those tiles are definitely a slow repetitious job 😢 but once they’re done then that one off the list ❤
Glad your having a Sunday break 😊
I’ve got 4 more daily blogs to watch and I’m up to speed from your very beginning to today

I did that too just recently. It was fun.
Everyone needs rest and you do not want a burn out. Take care Dan.

All progress is good! Perfect that you are taking Sundays off.....you need a day to yourself. See you tomorrow!
A day off during the week is essential not only for your health, but you will find that your productivity will benefit as well! 😊
Why don't you take Saturdays as well, Dan?!!!!🥰
Delighted to read that you now take Sunday off Dan.
A change really is as good as a rest. Chasing wee boys instead of roof tiles will do all of you a world of good.

Dan, you keep practicing that bucket shot and I know the NBA will be calling you soon to offer you a contract👍🏀
You are like a cat climbing up there on those roofs. I was never good with heights except when climbing trees.
Glad you will take Sundays off from working. 👍👍😁
Glad to hear it! YOU need at least one down day for yourself.
I'm glad you are taking a day off! God knows, you deserve to have a day off! Get some rest. The rendering and the roof looks great 👍
Good for you, Dan!!!🌻🌾🌿
Taking Sundays (or any day) off is a good plan as everyone needs organizing time as well as a little rest. We will be watching regardless, so don’t worry about us. Just be you doing your thing and we will be happy. 😊
You deserve a day or two off 💛 good choice Dan. The cottage is looking amazing
Another good days work Dan….you’re getting there..slowly but surely. Dottie x
You definately need to have a weekly break especially with all that balancing you have to do on the roof. ☺️
I say, thank goodness you're taking Sundays off! You can always tack Saturdays onto that too! It's great to have dreams, but life is for living!
Hello Dan, be careful with your hand in the mixer... we care for you.
Take care of you and your family Dan. That's what counts.
Hi there it looked like you were having a hard time with the cement, in Italia they use a piping bag to get it into the rock cracks then add the rest of the cement after. love your DIY

The rooof is loking great. Keep up rhe good work. The end result getting nearer.👋🇺🇸🕶
Thank goodness you’re taking time off on a weekly basis…….excellent news young man, excellent news.
You give me joy. Blessings my friend
It's all looking great Dan. A day off or two is imperative to rest your body and mind! Thanks for sharing!
I would think it ok to take the weekend, Sat & Sun off, to rest up from physical work. Relaxing might be under rated... When I do a real good relax in, I get more work done, in the end. See ya tamarra!
Sooo glad your taking a day off Dan. You need to take time for yourself. Don’t burn the candle at both ends.
Dan, you crack me up 😂 with your humor!
Seeing you on that barn raises my heart rate. Be safe. The roof is looking good.
Good for you for taking a day off the vlogs. I think you are very patient. Patience is my life lesson. If you are not patient then there is no hope for me.😂
A day off to do what is needed is a good idea. Whether it’s a day out with the boys, getting materials or just resting. Good plan Dan
i love that little camper....good day..
Dan your work looks great, don’t be so hard on yourself,I think you are very patient and extremely strong ⭐️❤️🥇👑🌻⭐️🇺🇸
Making the walls wet, before applying the render will give a better result in the long run.
We all have our own way of doing things. Do it how you want. It’s easy to criticize when your watching someone work on TH-cam.
You just inspire me to get things done at my place 😊
About time you took a day off 🎉🎉
Tie a knot in the bucket rope every foot or so for heaven's sake. Simple means of increasing control.
Yess Dan, take the Sunday or the Whateverday Off!
No, this video looked like you have achieved a lot!
and, you flatten the cement very perfectly!
That Honda engine on your mixer will run forever! Have one just like it.
AMAZING what an hard working man and a bucket can achieve, you are doing great Dan. Xx
For not having patience, you are certainly developing it. You have so much to complete. I find you miraculous. The lack of patience is on my part. Glad to hear you are taking Sundays off, you need some time to yourself. Excellent crab walking BTW love 😍
Ah the cement mixer, I was starting to miss it 😂
I guess you’ll put a tarp under that edge to protect the building the frame work looks amazing …
Nice to see you back but day off and mental health is very important! 🇨🇦
Affirming Sundays off, and BTW you are great with the lime/stucco work! Very nice!
I agree , you need to take off Sunday..you’re doing so much, and you must give yourself a break!
Well done Dan. You are a very hard worker. Enjoy your videos. ❤x
Loving the little sideways shuffle on the barn roof - you need to set that to music! 😂
Everyone needs a day off Dan...go for it!
