I had never heard of Moses Sumney and didn't know what I was in for. He started playing this and my spirits immediately lifted - been keeping up with his music ever since :) Also when his set ended, he went right into the crowd as a fan of Hundred Waters. I got to thank him and shake his hand - very sweet person and had the SOFTEST HANDS. Truly a wonderful human being. Moses, if you ever read this - thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
While Moses has always been gorgeous and extraordinarily talented, his new physical form has garnered attention from popular culture. What I admire most, though he seems to revel in the new found attention, is that his musical and lyrical genius seems to only continue to evolve in ways that leave us ever in awe. He is a consummate artist; always pushing the threshold previous set by the previous work and ever developing vocally in an authentic way. I am a fan but not in the traditional sense of the word. I am a fan because I feel seen and given permission for continuous exploration; particularly as a black male. What a monument!
