Stumbled into this video again. I remember listening to this so much back in 2014/2015. Having it so memorized that when we got to see Moses perform it live at a music festival on the Santa Monica Pier we sang along word for word including the "thank you" after he claps. Moses was so young, we met him after the show and he jumped over a barrier to come say hi and talk to us. I was young too, we were young. D drove while on acid that day, scared all of us, then we drank that whole night. T showed me this song, just like she showed me so much more music that a lot of my identity today is built on. I wonder if she ever stumbles upon this video too, and I wonder what memories it connects her to. Moments ingrained in my mind, music that made us who we are. All those moments are gone now, it's all so different. I guess that's the everlasting sigh.
Shelby Van Buren Yeah he was great! When he came out he said "I'm Moses Sumney also known as not Local Natives" He also said that his purpose was to get us emotionally ready which worked for me. Did he play Plastic in Nashville? That was my favorite song in his St.Louis set which I'm assuming is more or less the same,
lmao holy shit i was at that show, 9 years ago, right at the rail. did not close my mouth once, watching him do this in person was truly a life-changer.
Saw him in 2014 opening for local natives.. totally blew the crowd away! Said he'd be working at a pizza a place less than a year before the tour.. really inspiring!!
Lyrics (some words vary per performance): Sayonara embers of the fire That must be allowed to die The bed of coal, it must run cold, in time But your body heat brings life Crying in a river running dry Made your eyes a clouded sky But if you’re a god, made from a god, made from a god Let your whispered words be divine If vultures can be soul birds let it die Leaning on the everlasting sigh Creator you create monstrous men From the ink that clogs your pen Running on the sentence that must end So your soul can rise again If vultures can be soul birds let it die Leaning on the everlasting sigh
This song reallly deserves to be on lion king 2019 i would make a pettition for it to at least be played in the credits being that they are so far along with it
king! Your sound speaks to a part of me that i can't express well. You're magic. hold up: If vultures can be soul birds, let it die. Leaning on the everlasting sigh. *clap* *clap* *clap*
Ballet Roses lol no offense if you didnt notice, but tune yards appropriates alot from african music. From the layered vocals to give the effect of a chant or the african instrumentals, to the inflection and soul. This man just has alot of inspiration from his roots, definitely not tune yards. Its like saying people take graceland by paul simon as inspiration instead of the actual root in africa.
I know I might sound ignorant and unworldly for asking but can anyone tell me the genre of this type of music I love it but just don't know what it is classified as please and thank you and thank you Honda for showing him to me lol

This guy opened for Local Natives at the Pageant in St.Louis. He was excellent. Both funny, entertaining, and best of all human.
Just saw him at The Ryman in Nashville, opening for them also! 100% agree.

Nathan Huff Yes! He said something to a similar degree - made me laugh! Plastic was my favorite as well.

Lyrics (some words vary per performance):
Sayonara embers of the fire
That must be allowed to die
The bed of coal, it must run cold, in time
But your body heat brings life
Crying in a river running dry
Made your eyes a clouded sky
But if you’re a god, made from a god, made from a god
Let your whispered words be divine
If vultures can be soul birds let it die
Leaning on the everlasting sigh
Creator you create monstrous men
From the ink that clogs your pen
Running on the sentence that must end
So your soul can rise again
If vultures can be soul birds let it die
Leaning on the everlasting sigh
Sighing on the embers of fire
perfection in human form
When I listen to his music even my blood dances to the beat. My heart changes it's rhythm to match.

Feeling the Tune Yards inspiration from this guy. Love it!!!

Right. Obviously. Didn't mean to offend anyone. Love both of these artists! :D
Wow. Just wow. He is incredible.
The beginning made me think of "Take Five" by Al Jareau. This is nice. Thanks!
Thought that was Dave Brubeck? Maybe Al Jareau does a cover of it. Either way, you're right, I get that vibe too. That, or 15 Step by Radiohead.

Acapella
He's a Soul-Folk Artist.
David's right. It's kind of a indie, soul, trip pop fusion, as well. It's definitely a unique sound though. No ignorance for not knowing the new.
Someone please get the lyrics for this masterpiece.
