    Noise is a big problem in Valencia if you are not used to the intense spanish lifestyle,its indeed a luxury to have a flat where you can just read in quiet or just be still without no noise polution from the neighbors shouting at theyr kids or screaming at eachother when comunicating ,same goes from the bars downastairs , it can become a real struggle so people should really be aware of all of this before buying a house in a beautiful looking Valencian neighbourhood ! Thanks for the helpfull video!

    Here's what I'd add:
    - there are "washer-dryer" appliances, but they have verrrrry long cycle times, and they leave your clothes damp. You still need to have space for a clothes drying rack.
    - To us, the most important thing is to locate near a supermarket, which you may be visiting daily.
    - To get a reasonably good estimate of square footage, just multiply the square meters by 10.

    • @EverythingIsBoffo
      @EverythingIsBoffo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I also heard that there’s washer dryers that will dry your clothes up into a ball and you’ll have to iron? Is that the washer dryer you mean?
      Great notes to add! Very helpful! Thanks for watching!

    Omg lots of lessons were learned when we rushed into our temporary rental in Palma de Mallorca! Biggest thing for us was NOISE. There was a restaurant below us that would throw late night 5AM after parties and the bar was right underneath our bedroom. And a underground night club across the street with bars everywhere. Every night I could feel our bed vibrating. I just about LOST my mind 😅
    We got a noise machine which helped until we moved out after two months (broke our lease) And also -we rented furnished and it’s SO important to check the age and quality of the furniture! Our dog got a dust mite infection and lost a bunch of fur. 😢 the carpet was so gross looking and that’s where her bed was. Big mistake!

    • @EverythingIsBoffo
      @EverythingIsBoffo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes, when we were feeling desperate and time was running out on our airbnb, our friend reminded us not to rush into anything. I’m glad we listened to him and we ended up in a much nicer place. I don’t ever wanna move! ☺️

    My two cents… PLEASE STOP PAYING THE OUTRAGEOUS RENTAL FEES, and stop being ok with 2,000 and up rent. You’re driving up costs for locals.
    We went to rent a condo and the renter there said her unit was 700.00 euros and they are asking 1500 now because they know foreigners will pay. Landlords see money signs with foreigners. Not all, but most for sure. Locals really suffer when we come here and drive up costs like this. Don’t pay the crazy rents. PLEASE DONT!
    Also, put your foot down, there’s no need to pay a years rent up front.
    We paid one month down, one month to the realestate company, one months rent, on a brand new house. Yes, new house in the city (rare find), but we put our foot down and didn’t pay that year they asked for initially.
    Be careful with realtors and looking online.
    You can add a smart lock on your door. They sell them on Amazon.
    Great video!

      EES Method, it's not that we want to drive up the rental cost but unfortunately we have to pay what they're asking for otherwise you don't get it, other person will get it. Finding apartments in Valencia right now it's very difficult specially if you are not working here so guess what...only option is to pay a year's rent at once.

    I stayed at a condo in Madrid that had a Bosch washer dryer combo. The dryer lint trap had never been cleaned and was packed with almost 2 inches of Lint. Also, instead of using magnets to secure the window screen, you could use velcro. If the adhesive for the velcro is too weak, you could use a silicon adhesive like E6000 to apply them. You may need to check with your landlord first. I've used 2 inch velcro for every foot of screen.

    • @EverythingIsBoffo
      @EverythingIsBoffo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip, we used velcro as well, and even added double sides tape. It just wouldn’t hold up and was such an eyesore after a few weeks. Will have to do more research if there are alternatives.

    With all due respect I found that many of your comments in this video are applicable to city living Anywhere, not just in Valencia attractive though it may be.. After 12 years in West London, I can attest to that. As far as "Location, Location" is concerned, I think one has to have priorities, for me an apartment has to b "liveable" ie: somewhere I feel comfortable in and am pleased to return to, with enough space to move about freely, but close to amenities and above all affordable. We have all heard stories of a bed/sit in a converted "broom closet", in a former "office block", in a prime location opposite "Harrod's" in London, with a purchase price well in excess of £100,000...!! Not for me even if I had had the money..!!

      It’s actually very first world, public transportation is amazing, the city offers plenty to do, cost of living is low, universal healthcare so people never have to worry when they are sick. It’s a very good way to live.
      But as it’s an old city (and country), there’s apartments that are not as modern or have not been renovated yet. You can choose to rent in a newer build, there’s plenty being built right now.

      Primero, nos gustaría una piso cerca de rio Turia, o cualquier parque para podemos pasear nuestro perrita diariamente. Y además, casi todos los landlords no le gustaba alquilarnos por que somos extranjeros sin nominas. Fue muy difícil, pero ahora estamos contentos. 😊

    We're from the Philippines and are looking into moving to Valencia. I was watching this episode and I'm starting to get worried with living in the apartments there. Hahaha! Are there convenient services there like steam cleaning/shampooing for sofas? and services for AC cleaning? Over here we're required in our condos to have our ACs cleaned quarterly. And the home cleaning services grew like mushrooms during the pandemic so we can keep our sofas and other upholstered furniture clean.

      I don’t think we’ve come across those services, not that we’ve been actively looking. Maybe your future landlord will know or have contacts for you. Sorry we couldn’t be of more help…Thanks for watching!

      @@EverythingIsBoffo Thanks for taking time to reply! It's just I saw those old furniture when you guys were checking out apartments and they look like they could use a good cleaning. :))) Does the landlord normally have the place thoroughly cleaned before moving in?

      @@carissacharmaine6659 ours came unfurnished, and we still cleaned it even though it looked clean already. Most of the furnished apartments we saw had furniture that was maybe 2-3 years old.

    Why arent there any dryers?? How do you dry your clothes?

    • @EverythingIsBoffo
      @EverythingIsBoffo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s not as common. People line-dry and since it’s Spain it only takes a few hours out in the sun. Cost efficient and better for the clothes and the environment.

      @@irenethemarine most apartments will have some sort of drying outside their rear windows. Or yes, dry inside or on top of the radiators. We would put the fan on to help air dry on a rainy day.
