This was a wonderful lecture! I truly enjoyed it. After watching this video, I applied the advice from the sheikh to my life. I began reading Quran more often, and Allahu Akbar, my perception of time has changed. I do not feel like time is flying by anymore. I feel that it is steady. I have been a student of yours since I was 16 years of age. I am now 30 in a few months (by the sun) and I have been watching the world transform based on your insight. I have listened to most of your lectures and read all of your books. I recently had a dream about you as well which has motivated me to double down in my quest for knowledge. I am posting because I've been thinking about how the journey of Musa (AS) and Khidr and how this is linked to the sun rising from the west - more specifically within the realm of symbolism. I strongly agree with the position that the sun will not "literally" rise from the west - although we could be incorrect, as we have been in the past - Allah knows best. Regardless, here are my recent thoughts on the subject. Traditionally, consciousness has been symbolized by the sun. When the light of consciousness shines on the external events of the world as they appear within the mind's eye (left eye). That is on the contents of consciousness, then we may see the true nature of our emotions and associated thoughts. Through this state of pure observation, we may be able to act according to higher reason, according to principles, we may act consciously. It thus represents the awakening of our deeper capacity for discernment. Traditionally, the capacity for discernment was a sign of knowledge and wisdom precisely because it represented consciousness. Those who lack discernment are in a state of unconsciousness, and thus, lack the level of self-awareness that is otherwise required to understand the true nature of our preferences, our inclinations, our desires, our thoughts, and our feelings. Lacking understanding of their true nature, we only end up self-identifying with them, and thus, act according to them, whether through avoidance or affirmation. This represents the lack of self-awareness and the inability for self-scrutiny, and it is why ignorance is always characterized by projection and the externalization of one's own toxic emotions and behaviours onto others in the form of blame, criticism, judgement, etc. The sun normally rises from the east. A rising from the west is symbolic of an "inversion" of what is mentioned above. This represents the opposite of reason and sound judgement. Unconsciousness is thus symbolized by darkness because we cannot see what is in the darkness just as we cannot see what is happening within us. On a side note: When Musa (AS) and his fataah (Yusha ibn noon) aka Joshua were travelling - they had a fish with them which I am sure you are familiar with. Not only was the fish their intended meal, but I believe it to be symbolic as well. Fish are commonly associated with the water element, which signifies stability, balance, and tranquillity. The strong connection to the water element then gives it similar connotations of duality. If water obscures a lot of hard decisions in life, it acts as a guide familiar with the world of the unknown. Fish can also be symbolic of the faithful submerged in the waters of life. Yet are also cold-blooded, not driven by passion, and often such emotionless entities. The way in which the fish escaped was also mentioned. It left a wake in its trail and the wake persisted. This was mentioned on purpose by Allah, and for good reason. We just don't know that reason quite yet. Some food for thought. Forgive the pun.
I have learned so much about the reality of this world from Shiekh Imran’s talks. He explains the Quran and Sunnah in a way that relates to our everyday lives. He’s one of maybe two or three scholars who warn about the dangers of interest and interest banking. May Allah guide us all, ameen.

I'm not sure I understand. If the sun rising from the west is one of the major signs, after which repentance will not be accepted. And the sun rising from the west is not to be taken literally, then how is it to be taken? If the interpretation is that it occurs due to the prevalent use of the gregorian solar calendar, doesn't that mean the major sign has already happened? and that the gates of repentance are closed?
Here is my theory about the sun rising from the west, and Allah knows the best. Ibrahim had a discussion with a king called nemrud who claimed to be a god, he wanted to convince people that he is. So there is a king who wants to convince people that he is a god. Ibrahim told him that Allah brings people back to life and cause death, so nemrud failed to do it but Ibrahim said okay we can pass this one. Then Ibrahim said my lord brings the sun from the east, bring it from the west. So for a king to convince people that he is a god, he must be able to bring back death and cause death, and he must be able to bring the sun from the west. We all know who is this king that is going to claim he is a god in akhiru azzaman. And we all know that this king has been giving the ability and by the help of jins to make people think that he resurected the deaths. The same king will use the same magic and technologie to make people think that there is a sun rising from the west.
The Most Interesting Fact of Sheikh INH is that he has listeners from Non Muslims which is a plus point for an Ideal Scholarship. A Real Muslim Scholar will be like this. Indeed there were thousands and thousands of Scholars with this Potential in the Past. Its just they can never be found in the Internet or in any Books or Articles because they didn't do that for Fame or Money. Sheikh Imran Hussein is a great teacher and you can feel he has a good heart. He is also looking for a good relationship between Islam and Christianity. I read his book "prohibition of riba in quran" and it was great. Christianity once condemned usury and interest rates on capital, but then satan deceived Christian "leaders". We must go back to honest money (gold, silver, maybe oil, wheat). Paper money is fraud and more and more people realize that. Time seems to be flying because we are living our lives at breakneck speed. We want to watch all the episodes of the new show in one day instead of waiting a week for the next episode. We dont have to go to the library to get information we have google in our pocket. We dont have to wait one week for our photograph's to come back from the developer. Fashion is disposable week to week not seasonable anymore. Everything accelerated.

The Sun rising from the west I think refers to the spread of westernisation and western popular cultures upon the east, the variation that is produced by separate cultures will be inherently lost in the sense that the Sun even though rising in the East is actually in the end of days rising in the West as the people of the East become culturally identical to the people of the west in ways originating from western culture, social habits and beliefs.

That is one of the closest signs of Qiyamat. The obvious sign. The sort of things atheists say they need to believe. It's actually very fitting for Allah SWT to present an indisputable sign of His existence only to end repentance then and there because there's no need for belief after that. At least that's my understanding.

I found that when im studying scripture that time slows down. Also when casting off sins. It is a battle and time slows during the fight. Just try breaking a sinful behavior and count how many days you can go without committing the sin. Time will slow way down. Each day will feel like a eternity. If the earth suddenly change its magnetic poles and start spinning in opposite direction, it is possible physically sun to rise from west. Or, it may start rotating stopped and move in opposite direction due to hit be some near earth object resulting explosion and fire also.
Brother do u even know how fast the earth is rotating. Its rotating roughly 1000miles/ hr. For it to rotate in opposite directions it will have to stop 1st than rotate in opposite direction. Imagine a 1000 miles/ hr thing suddenly comes to stop. Every thing on earth will get destroyed immediately due to inertia. And Allah swt laws are fixed. Isn't that obvious? Imran Hosein does not claim that the verses of the Qur'an cannot be abrogated, rather, he claims they can be changed by better verses. Allah did not abrogate any verse of the Qur'an if He did not change it with the better verse. You did not put any counter argument against Imran Hosein's claims, yet, you are claiming he is wrong. I enjoyed listening to the lecture, it definitely made me think. I wanted to provide my thoughts about the concept of the sun rising from the west. It is mentioned that repentance won't be accepted once this occurs, which leads me to believe it would be a physical event and not a metaphorical one. It would need to be something largely seen as a major event, to be classified among them. To my knowledge the pagans have been using solar based calendars for possibly thousands of years. So for the solar calendar to become popularized and spread throughout the world, that would be called a spreading of pagan ideologies, and may or may not represent the sun rising from the west. It either means when people accept a solar calendar that their repentance is not accepted, or there is still a real major event to occur. And the globalization of the solar calendar is a matter of misguidance (away from the lunar calendar), and not a major event. These are matters for thinking, Allah knows best what the actual truth is. In the Surah where Ibrahim (aleyhi salaam) is talking to that king: Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:258 Whenever I read this I think about how Allah has all the Power, and it is within Allah's Power to cause the sun to rise from the west if He wills. I interpret that this Ayah is telling me that Allah is the One Who causes it to rise from the east, and if He willed, could cause the sun to rise from the west. Perhaps this Ayah was hinting at this major sign in the future, where Allah could cause the sun to rise from the west if He wills. I didn't get the idea that this Ayah meant that the sun cannot rise from the west and only rises from the east. Rather, that king being spoken with had no real power to do such a thing, and so it was brought to his attention to prove he was arrogant and deluded. So to me it seemed like a hint about a future occurrence which only Allah can cause, the sun rising from the west. I just want to provide my opinion so we can all think about the possibilities. I respect Shiekh Imran very much and I love him for the sake of Allah. I'm not having a boxing match haha.
I also think it would be a physical event and not metaphorical because even scientists say that earth is spinning slower and slower as if it’s like a spring and eventually they say it will begin to rotate the opposite way, than you will see the sun rise from the west

About 17-18 years ago i watched a TV program on Discovery channel where some physicists were discussing about earth's motion. They told in that program that earth is rotating in circular simple harmonic motion and they presented many equations with huge mass and harmonic motion which obviously i can't remember now. At the end they told that in this type of case, there will come a time when the rotation of the mass (earth) will reverse for 1 day. Then it will reverse again and be normal like now. I think that one day reverse rotation is mentioned in the hadith, when the sun will appear to rise from west. The sun will not rise from opposite direction, but because of the reverse rotation of the earth, people will see that sun is rising from west. In the Quran God has never mentioned sun rises from east. Its Ibrahim (pbuh) 's speech. Allah knows best. (I have searched that video on youtube but didn't find it. I have been a student of yours since I was 16 years of age. I am now 30 in a few months (by the sun) and I have been watching the world transform based on your insight. I have listened to most of your lectures and read all of your books. I recently had a dream about you as well which has motivated me to double down in my quest for knowledge.
I am posting because I've been thinking about how the journey of Musa (AS) and Khidr and how this is linked to the sun rising from the west - more specifically within the realm of symbolism.
I strongly agree with the position that the sun will not "literally" rise from the west - although we could be incorrect, as we have been in the past - Allah knows best. Regardless, here are my recent thoughts on the subject.
Traditionally, consciousness has been symbolized by the sun. When the light of consciousness shines on the external events of the world as they appear within the mind's eye (left eye). That is on the contents of consciousness, then we may see the true nature of our emotions and associated thoughts. Through this state of pure observation, we may be able to act according to higher reason, according to principles, we may act consciously. It thus represents the awakening of our deeper capacity for discernment.
Traditionally, the capacity for discernment was a sign of knowledge and wisdom precisely because it represented consciousness. Those who lack discernment are in a state of unconsciousness, and thus, lack the level of self-awareness that is otherwise required to understand the true nature of our preferences, our inclinations, our desires, our thoughts, and our feelings. Lacking understanding of their true nature, we only end up self-identifying with them, and thus, act according to them, whether through avoidance or affirmation. This represents the lack of self-awareness and the inability for self-scrutiny, and it is why ignorance is always characterized by projection and the externalization of one's own toxic emotions and behaviours onto others in the form of blame, criticism, judgement, etc.
The sun normally rises from the east. A rising from the west is symbolic of an "inversion" of what is mentioned above.
This represents the opposite of reason and sound judgement. Unconsciousness is thus symbolized by darkness because we cannot see what is in the darkness just as we cannot see what is happening within us.
On a side note: When Musa (AS) and his fataah (Yusha ibn noon) aka Joshua were travelling - they had a fish with them which I am sure you are familiar with. Not only was the fish their intended meal, but I believe it to be symbolic as well.
Fish are commonly associated with the water element, which signifies stability, balance, and tranquillity. The strong connection to the water element then gives it similar connotations of duality. If water obscures a lot of hard decisions in life, it acts as a guide familiar with the world of the unknown.
Fish can also be symbolic of the faithful submerged in the waters of life. Yet are also cold-blooded, not driven by passion, and often such emotionless entities.
The way in which the fish escaped was also mentioned. It left a wake in its trail and the wake persisted. This was mentioned on purpose by Allah, and for good reason. We just don't know that reason quite yet.

I'm not sure I understand. If the sun rising from the west is one of the major signs, after which repentance will not be accepted. And the sun rising from the west is not to be taken literally, then how is it to be taken? If the interpretation is that it occurs due to the prevalent use of the gregorian solar calendar, doesn't that mean the major sign has already happened? and that the gates of repentance are closed?
Here is my theory about the sun rising from the west, and Allah knows the best.
Ibrahim had a discussion with a king called nemrud who claimed to be a god, he wanted to convince people that he is.
So there is a king who wants to convince people that he is a god.
Ibrahim told him that Allah brings people back to life and cause death, so nemrud failed to do it but Ibrahim said okay we can pass this one.
Then Ibrahim said my lord brings the sun from the east, bring it from the west.
So for a king to convince people that he is a god, he must be able to bring back death and cause death, and he must be able to bring the sun from the west.
We all know who is this king that is going to claim he is a god in akhiru azzaman.
And we all know that this king has been giving the ability and by the help of jins to make people think that he resurected the deaths.
The same king will use the same magic and technologie to make people think that there is a sun rising from the west.
So its dajjal ?

@@MrSeadawg123 I am not a muslim at all but Imran has studied the Coran and other islamic scriptures as the hadiths and a few others,and transmits them as a compendium of wisdom so thats very easy to understand at least for me...Not necessary to be a muslim stricto sensu in order to learn something from Imran.What I find particulary interesting is his view on the end of days version Islamic one,and his detailed worldly events throughout history and nowadays..all this in relation to the acting forces (good and evil) on the ground.It opens up my analytical and synthetical mind (eye)..How about you?Also we must not forget that this world is a world of duality good and bad are interacting,and thus the bad has also its own utility.)))

I read his book "prohibition of riba in quran" and it was great. Christianity once condemned usury and interest rates on capital, but then satan deceived Christian "leaders". The Sun rising from the west I think refers to the spread of westernisation and western popular cultures upon the east, the variation that is produced by separate cultures will be inherently lost in the sense that the Sun even though rising in the East is actually in the end of days rising in the West as the people of the East become culturally identical to the people of the west in ways originating from western culture, social habits and beliefs.

That is one of the closest signs of Qiyamat. The obvious sign. The sort of things atheists say they need to believe. It's actually very fitting for Allah SWT to present an indisputable sign of His existence only to end repentance then and there because there's no need for belief after that. At least that's my understanding.

I found that when im studying scripture that time slows down. Also when casting off sins. It is a battle and time slows during the fight. Just try breaking a sinful behavior and count how many days you can go without committing the sin. Time will slow way down. Each day will feel like a eternity. If the earth suddenly change its magnetic poles and start spinning in opposite direction, it is possible physically sun to rise from west. Or, it may start rotating stopped and move in opposite direction due to hit be some near earth object resulting explosion and fire also.
Brother do u even know how fast the earth is rotating. Its rotating roughly 1000miles/ hr. For it to rotate in opposite directions it will have to stop 1st than rotate in opposite direction.
Imagine a 1000 miles/ hr thing suddenly comes to stop. Every thing on earth will get destroyed immediately due to inertia.
And Allah swt laws are fixed.
No where the hadith mention that humanity will perish when sun rises from the west. So it has to be figurative n not literal. And Wallah A'alam

I enjoyed listening to the lecture, it definitely made me think. I wanted to provide my thoughts about the concept of the sun rising from the west. It is mentioned that repentance won't be accepted once this occurs, which leads me to believe it would be a physical event and not a metaphorical one. It would need to be something largely seen as a major event, to be classified among them. To my knowledge the pagans have been using solar based calendars for possibly thousands of years. So for the solar calendar to become popularized and spread throughout the world, that would be called a spreading of pagan ideologies, and may or may not represent the sun rising from the west. It either means when people accept a solar calendar that their repentance is not accepted, or there is still a real major event to occur. And the globalization of the solar calendar is a matter of misguidance (away from the lunar calendar), and not a major event.
These are matters for thinking, Allah knows best what the actual truth is. In the Surah where Ibrahim (aleyhi salaam) is talking to that king: Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:258
Whenever I read this I think about how Allah has all the Power, and it is within Allah's Power to cause the sun to rise from the west if He wills. I interpret that this Ayah is telling me that Allah is the One Who causes it to rise from the east, and if He willed, could cause the sun to rise from the west. Perhaps this Ayah was hinting at this major sign in the future, where Allah could cause the sun to rise from the west if He wills. I didn't get the idea that this Ayah meant that the sun cannot rise from the west and only rises from the east. Rather, that king being spoken with had no real power to do such a thing, and so it was brought to his attention to prove he was arrogant and deluded. So to me it seemed like a hint about a future occurrence which only Allah can cause, the sun rising from the west.
I just want to provide my opinion so we can all think about the possibilities. I respect Shiekh Imran very much and I love him for the sake of Allah. I'm not having a boxing match haha.
I also think it would be a physical event and not metaphorical because even scientists say that earth is spinning slower and slower as if it’s like a spring and eventually they say it will begin to rotate the opposite way, than you will see the sun rise from the west

About 17-18 years ago i watched a TV program on Discovery channel where some physicists were discussing about earth's motion. They told in that program that earth is rotating in circular simple harmonic motion and they presented many equations with huge mass and harmonic motion which obviously i can't remember now. At the end they told that in this type of case, there will come a time when the rotation of the mass (earth) will reverse for 1 day. Then it will reverse again and be normal like now.
I think that one day reverse rotation is mentioned in the hadith, when the sun will appear to rise from west.
The sun will not rise from opposite direction, but because of the reverse rotation of the earth, people will see that sun is rising from west.
In the Quran God has never mentioned sun rises from east. Its Ibrahim (pbuh) 's speech.
