  • Arsenal are contemplating a surprising move to recall Szczesny from Juventus to replace Aaron Ramsdale. Following Ramsdale's descent down the pecking order in the goalkeeping department to first-choice David Raya, the English shot-stopper is poised to depart the Emirates in pursuit of regular playing time, with Newcastle United being touted as the frontrunner to secure his services. According to Standard, Arsenal have already commenced a quest for a replacement, with Szczesny emerging as a potential candidate.
The Gunners are eager to enlist a homegrown goalkeeper to comply with Premier League squad regulations, rendering Szczesny an attractive option. The 34-year-old ascended through the ranks of the Arsenal academy and became the No.1 choice, amassing 181 senior appearances, before departing for Juventus in 2017. Furthermore, Juventus' pursuit of Michele Di Gregorio from Monza has further incentivized the Premier League outfit to pursue the Polish keeper.
However, Szczesny's reported weekly wages of £100000 after tax could prove to be a significant hurdle for Arsenal. He has one year remaining in his Bianconeri contract and it remains to be seen if he is willing to settle for the No.2 slot at Emirates.
Meanwhile, another homegrown goalkeeper under Arsenal's scrutiny is Brighton's Jason Steele. Whereas, Arsenal scouts are also keeping tabs on Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj. However, Ramaj's reluctance to relinquish guaranteed playing time poses a potential obstacle to any transfer.
Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, James Hillson, and Reiss Nelson are all anticipated to depart Arsenal in the summer which has prompted the club management to scour for homegrown players across Europe. They are reportedly aiming to further bolster their squad with a defender, a midfielder, and a forward as the North London outfit harbors lofty ambitions for next season.
Manchester United are eyeing a move for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro after Andre Onana's calamitous debut season at Old Trafford.
According to Marca, United are exploring options to secure in-form Real Sociedad goalkeeper Remiro ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Premier League giants will seek to negotiate the Spanish custodian's release clause, valued at 70 million euros.
Remiro has featured in 33 La Liga matches for his club this season, boasting 13 clean sheets. In contrast, the Red Devils' primary goalkeeper Onana conceded 55 goals in 35 appearances in the Premier League, leaving the club with a negative goal difference.
The 20-time English champions are aiming to offload several players from their current squad in the summer, and the Cameroonian goalkeeper may find himself on that list if the club secures Remiro's signature.
Erik ten Hag's side will next be in action in the Premier League on Sunday as they welcome title contenders Arsenal in a crucial encounter.
Alphonso Davies keeps Real Madrid transfer rumours raging after putting Champions League audition at Santiago Bernabeu with Bayern Munich.
The Canada international was in the Spanish capital for the second leg of a heavyweight Champions League semi-final showdown. He started that game on the bench, but replaced the injured Serge Gnabry inside half-an-hour and appeared to have settled the tie when scoring a stunning goal in the 68th minute.
Real were to turn the game on its head, courtesy of substitute Joselu, leaving Davies to reflect on what could have been while also seeing questions asked of his future. The jet-heeled 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Madrid on a regular basis and is approaching the final year of his contract in Germany.
There has been talk of the Blancos making an approach in the summer transfer window, or waiting until Davies hits free agency in 2025, with the man himself saying when quizzed on his long-term plans: “Will I play here at the Bernabuu next? Right now, my agent is talking to Bayern. Whatever happens, I’m very grateful to Bayern.”
Real have no need to push for Davies at this point as Ferland Mendy has enjoyed a welcome return to form in their left-back berth this season. The Canadian speedster has, however, been a long-standing target and the lack of fresh terms at the Allianz Arena suggests that a new challenge may hold some appeal.
