    Just discovered your channel and quickly became obsessed! I started in the wellness world after becoming a TCM Dr assistant and wanted to attend TCM school but for unfortunate reason was unable to do so. I instead became a massage therapist and certified Acupressure therapist and your videos are extremely beneficial to me and my practice! I will be a subscriber on Patreon as well👍

    Good basics 👍 /.warning to people watching though >>> A much widen & deeper study is needed before any diagnosis can be made. Best point here is to do thousands of pulses.. Gain experience & the ability to see , sense & listen. Too often people learn a few things and then think they ‘Know’ & begin to talk & teach. 🙏

    Hi, we do have slippery pulse in our workbooks as indication of Phelgm. Is that correct?

    • @tcmstudy
      @tcmstudy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. According to Bob Flaws, slippery can be normal, or it can indicate heat, phlegm, dampness, or food stagnation. So you would need additional diagnostic information to know which it is.

    I don't quite get the diameter of vessel part. Wouldn't larger person, as in man vs women, have naturally larger diameter of vessel? Or Can I just take it as the width or size of the pulse that is felt on your fingertip, instead?

  • @emilymcgimpsey9006

    Question- In the breakdown of smooth vs choppy, I’m curious if the smooth pulse is indicative of something wrong or is it an aspect of a healthy pulse?

    • @tcmstudy
      @tcmstudy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be either one. Smooth/slippery/rolling can be a healthy pulse (especially if the patient is pregnant), or it can be a sign of something wrong (like dampness). So if you feel a slippery pulse, you would have to investigate further to know if it means there's something wrong or not.
      Same thing happens with other pulses, like the "moderate" pulse. If someone is an athlete, it's very common to have a moderate pulse and that's normal. But it could also be a sign that something is wrong, so you would have to look at other signs and symptoms.

    • @annemiek-inbalansmetqi8248
      @annemiek-inbalansmetqi8248 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tcmstudy if the pulse is slippery, it smoothly comes and goes, right? I don't understand that can be a sign of something wrong. How does the blood in a healthy pulse then flow thru the vessel?

    • @tcmstudy
      @tcmstudy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@annemiek-inbalansmetqi8248 It can go either way. So it's like, a healthy pulse will probably have some slipperiness to it (since it's smooth and uninhibited), but not all slippery pulses are healthy. For example, if there's dampness or phlegm, the pulse will feel slippery. But the slipperiness you feel isn't due to healthy flow, it's because there's too much fluid in the vessel, making it feel like the pulse will slip away. I'm not sure if that made sense.
