I have been putting g off reading An Ember in the Ashes but now I have to start right away.. my favorite fantasy so far is Children of blood and bone. I am reading the second one now. So good IMO

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed her new book and read it first. I definitely trust your judgement so I'm going to be reading it soon! I havent read furyborn or and ember in the ashes in a while so I should probably reread them. I just got mistborn so I hope I can get to that soon as well. I just actually got a couple of adult romance books because I've been inspired by you and many others. Have you read one day in december?

Mistborn is my favourite fantasy series ever 😍 But yess, Brandon Sanderson is not for everyone because it's high fantasy and even though there is a bit of romance, is not a romance book at all.
I’m so glad you’re going to read Mistborn!! Brandon Sanderson is the master of magic systems and writes so it’s easy to understand, while still describing the plot and characters so well!! I just finished Crescent City, and I had a really hard time with it at first too. She does so many info dumps at the beginning and it’s so chaotic. It does get better, but it takes a while to that point! It wasn’t my favorite but I enjoyed it!
Mistborn definitely isn't YA! Most people consider it Epic Adult Fantasy. It's really hefty, especially for someone who isn't into a whole bunch of fantasy, so good on you. Glad you liked it!
I started reading An Ember in the Ashes after I watched this!! I’m the same way, where I need my fantasy to have romance, and this did not disappoint. I was desperately waiting for Laia and Elias to get together!! I tried to like Helene and Keenan... but pretty much from the beginning I was set on Laia and Elias.

I’m so glad you enjoyed House of Earth and Blood! I’m very impressed you read 500 pages of it in one day- it took me forever to read (like more than two weeks)! Yay!!! I’m glad it’s a new favorite for you too! I was so nervous before you started. It’s stressful watching someone read one of your favorites lol! I didn’t like Furyborn 😭 I’ve tried two of Clare Legrand’s books and neither were for me which is so sad since her premises always sound great! I’m also glad you loved An Ember in the Ashes! Just in time to get caught up for the last book in December! Mistborn is another of my favorite series (there actually is some romance if you keep reading 😸)

I am with you....i like my Fantasy with some romance or strong relationships where a big part of the plot has to do with the relationship building. I can read my thrillers without that and historical fic/non fic but fantasy must have some serious focus on relationships if not romance.
I just bought the Sarah J Maas book....so we shall see. Long books don't intimidate me....i am a HUGE Outlander fan....where a novella is 500 pages! 😆

I really enjoyed The Ember in The Ashes when I read it last year. I should do a reread, to prepare for book 4! Also, my favorite fantasy novel is The Priory of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, and I definitely recommend it!

I've wanted to pick that up, but the size keeps putting me off .. need romance to push me read Fantasy 😅
@@abk.92 it does! It has a bisexual queen and a lesbian assassin (and dragons!) The romance is pretty slow burn, so be prepared for waiting about half the book before anything really happens, but it's worth it!

You made me want to reread ember in the ashes, I read it years ago and didn’t continue even though I enjoyed it so I think I’ll read it again. Please read Skyward by Brandon Sanderson soon, it’s amazing and so is Starsight.

I've only read Mistborn from this challenge, but I think you should definitely read the second book. If for nothing else, Elend's character and the romance get more time to shine in the next installment.

You've sold me on 🌙 City. You were using words like urban fantasy and Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series and those are both things that I 😍. I also did not realize it was adult. I thought it was going to be YA, and that is usually Not my jam.
I feel like you articulated my feelings about mistborn perfectly. I just finished the second book, and for both of them I enjoyed. I even enjoyed very much. I don't have a single bad thing to say about either of them. My only critique was that they were very long and I never felt truly HOOKED like I have with other books. I understand the hype and even agree with the hype but feel detached? Don't know, weird.
Also, had no intention of reading An Ember in the Ashes and here I am getting on the waitlist on Libby immediately.

Never read Crescent City, but the slowest book series I read and still liked are "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" (fantasy) and "Otherland" (sci-fi) by Tad Williams. Easily the first 200-300 pages are introduction, but I feel it is worth it in the end. Definitely not for everyone, though.
I didn't care for The Name of the Wind either. Just didn't like the main character, and if that's the case, I usually have a hard time finishing a book.
I love SJM's books but this one I have tried several times and stopped at like page 130. Very confusing and feels jumbled or complicated. (boring) I will try one more time later maybe my headspace is just not ready. I have Furyborn and never tried it.. I love fantasy,it is my top genre but really need romance in them. Try some Morgan Rhodes she does romance/ fantasy best!! Mistborn I dnf just boring and dry. Great video!!

ehhhh define "romance"...there is a relationship between two of the main characters in mistborn in the later books in the trilogy but its not really a focus i feel like. I will say i DNFd the final empire the first time too but once you get past the first book the next two are amazing
