Looking great! I just ordered 4pcs for my baby ar wing after your 100+km flight Didn't know you chose to bolt the battery terminals; why did you chose this method over regular soldering? Also how did you manage to get the CG forward enough on the baby ar wing; did you need to add a lot of weight? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. The 8S isn't for the baby ar wing pro correct? Must be the bigger sonicmodel wing. Which motors are you running the 8S on? Does the FC power off 8S or do you need a bec?
I want to lower the current draw for long run, so I raise the battery voltage and lower the Kv of motor. Most ESC for 6S, are use 40V mosfet, it can run on 8S. The FC at vid, Matek F405WMN, it has a TVS diode which needs to be replace for 8S. TVS diode for 8S : SMBJ36A(MP) The power for camera and VTX use a simple BEC(Vbat on FC -> matek MIcro BEC6~60V->Camera&VTX).
@@celeselements thanks. I run 8S on a few fpv drones. Hakrc and foxeer sell 8s esc. Jhemcu has budget 8s FC. What motor, kv are you using on what prop and wing? I make my own 8s liion and lipo too. What esc are u using? Thanks
There is no rule for choosing motors and propellers. Based on quadcopters, 5 inch 3 bladed props, 22xx~23xx motors are approximately 2000Kv for 6S at racing. For long range, in my opinion, the Kv of quad motor divided 1/2 and choose larger prop. My babyARwing is 8S@2208/1500Kv and 4 inch props. It is not good matching, but I tried various way. I use hobbywing Xrotor 40A micro, it is discontinued unfortunately. But most ESC for 6S could run at 8S, I believe.
