Thank heavens there are people who know and love the original girls. I could never enjoy the other line up as much, having known the girls from back in Florida. There live shows were very entertaining, the clothes, hair and make-up were way magical.
Sandee will always be missed, she was a true artist. Talented beyond belief, she made it all look so easy.

I still like the newer girls, but this is the classic. I can't listen to the newer version of this particular song though. It's gotta be this one.

The version with Alejandra Lorenzo as lead singer. Released one year after Shannon's "Give me tonight". Albeit with the same drum beat pattern as "Give me tonight".

Just to clarify: this was the FIRST version of the song with the original (and my fave) trio (Ale, Sandee and Laurie). The song was then slightly updated when the group changed their name from X-posed to Expose. This was at the time Arista signed them. The updated version (which has the "Arista" logo on the 12-inch record) is a bit better mixed and "fuller" version, although it features the original three girls. Expose then released "Exposed to Love" as their next single. That song featured the original trio as well of Ale, Sandee and Laurie. Both Point of No Return and Exposed to Love were getting good traction and that is why Arista signed them. The original group recorded a full album that includes many of the songs on Exposure. However, after recording, Ale decided to leave and Jeanette Juardo (who was discovered by Ale and Laurie) was asked to join. Then Sandee left to start her own career and Laurie decided to leave shortly thereafter. Ann and Gioa were the replacements. Eventually, Arista had Point of No Return re-recorded and Jeanette's lead vocal is on that later version. Some of the early versions of "Exposure" have the original Point of No Return and some feature the later re-recorded version with Jeanette. Arista never re-recorded Exposed to Love and that song was included on the album even though it is sung by the original 3 girls. Interestingly, Arista also kept all of the original girls backing vocals but never credited them. In fact, the entire first Expose album features backing vocals from Ale, Sandee and Laurie. If you buy the recently released "extended special edition" version of Exposure, the liner notes explain all of this and FINALLY give credit to the original trio. Really sad that the first album wasn't released with the original trio. Supposedly, that is in the vaults.

I remember the 1985 version and always liked it better that the 1987 version with the second group. This is the first time I'm hearing this truly original version and love it more than what I thought was the original. Ale's voice is maybe not as polished as that of Jeanette, but it has a certain earthy sexuality. I think it works better.

Alejandra Lorenzo sang in a truly Cuban Latina style and carried the melody beautifully.

It's sad that the "Mark I" lineup of Alejandra "Ale" Lorenzo, Laurie Miller and the late Sandra "Sandee" Casanas (heard here on this version) aren't fully recognize for having been a part of the Expose legacy. It would be great if there was an Expose concert where surviving members Lorenzo and Miller performed alongside "Mark II" members Ann Curless, Jeanette Jurado, Gioia Bruno and Kelly Moneymaker. That would definitely be a treat for all Expose fans concerned!!! R.I.P. Sandee.

Just came across this version of “Point Of No Return”; and yes, this is the original version I remember when I first purchased their album Exposure way back in the late 1980’s. And I loved it. But then I remember misplacing the album and replacing it to which it had the remade version when took over by Arista. I was very disappointed and could not find this version until now. Thanks for sharing. This was the the true Expose version which today stands memorable to a lot of Miami dance lovers.

The first time I heard this I was in VP-30 at NAS Jacksonville. I am a House Music fiend to this very day and being down there they would get a lot of music late and a lot of music they didn't get at all. But we had friends from NYC that would bring back Master Mix Hip Hop and House tapes from 98.7 Kiss and WBLS. Frankie Knuckes, Little Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Larry Levan, Jelly Bean Benitez, Ralphie Rosario, etc. I remember there was one Maxell tape, a 98.7 Kiss joint, that had this song on it in one of the best house master mixes I had ever heard in my life. That was in 1984. I had kept that tape until 2002. I kept many of them, but that one I kept all of those years and it was because I loved "To the Point of No Return " so much. LOL

For those comparing on Alé & Jeanette's vocals, lol, its a known fact Sandée was originally going to sing the lead, but couldn't make it to the studio. Alé was there, so Lewis asked her to do it. This was Alé's 1st time in a studio, & she hesitated. But Lewis insisted, thus the end result. Notice her vocals are COMPLETELY different & more polished on "EXPOSED TO LOVE". (Btw, that song was never re-recorded with Ann, its the original girls on EVERY version of "Exposed To Love"). Alé herself has said that Jeanette was a the better singer, but the original girls were also told in the studio "Dont give us STREISAND!", as they wanted to go with the girly voices that were popular in Dance & New Wave at the time (think Stacey Q). The original girls were also responsible for discovering Jeanette! While on tour in CA, Alé decided to leave the group, the girls saw Jeanette playing with a local band, she had a good voice, and even looked like Alé, so they asked her if she'd like to take Alé's place, & the rest is history. (Alé replaced herself! -lol) - One last note, the original girls back vocals were left on the 1st album. So whenever u hear the chorus on "Come Go With Me (Oh-Woah)!", etc, YUP, thats the original girls! ;-)

ElectrikArguement actually thier is a bio or original girls not wanting to be in contract of long years of albums so ale declined plus the producers etc spent soooo much money .the originals girls loved it but just didn't want that long contract so they all were replaced ..

Nicole gomez Actually, the only one to sign a contract & still recieve royalties from anything Exposé, was Alé. Sandee & Laurie never signed. Laurie is the one who refused to sign because they would own the girls, & all of Laurie's work & designs for 12yrs. And she was like; "Nope". 😉🖒

@ Rene Tarango - Sorry, u are WRONG. This is THEE original 1984 version on Pantera Records, before they changed their name to Exposé. Its the one that many heard first in clubs & radio with Alé on lead. It was re-mixed & re-released again in 1985 when they got signed to Arista. & Later, it was released once more in 1987 with Jeanette on lead. #DoYourResearch.

By 1987, hadn't all original members left. I always thought that the line-up for the re-recorded '87 version of PONR, had all three new members singing. Am I right in saying now, that the re-recording only had Jeanette Jurado replacing Alejandra Lorenzo on lead vocals, but still retaining the original vocals of Sandra Casanas and Laurie Miller?

    • @ElectrikArguement
      @ElectrikArguement 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@joesophie90 No, you were correct. The 1987 re-recorded "Jeanette" version, is fully re-recorded with all 3; Gioa, Jeanette & Ann.
However the original girls back vocals were left on the entire Exposure album. So whenever you hear "Come go with meee! (Oh-woah)", or "Let meee, be the one", etc, those are the original girls voices you've been hearing all these years. 😉 Same with Seasons Change & the whole album actually. Even Exposé's sister group Sequal do some back vocals on a couple songs as well (uncredited).

    • @joesophie90
      @joesophie90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@ElectrikArguement It's all very confusing. Exposure, their first album release runs like this (according to Wikipedia) - I have made it easier on the eye...
      *Come Go With Me*
      - Jurado, lead; Gioia Bruno, Ann Curless, backing vocals
Some vocals from the original lineup of Exposé remain in the released track - this might refer to the single release(?) Album track may well have had Jurado on lead and the three originals on backing.
      *Let Me Be The One*
      - Gioia Bruno, lead; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
      *Exposed To Love*
      - Ale, lead; Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
      *Seasons Change*
      - Jurado, lead; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
      *Extra Extra*
      - Anne Curless, lead; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
*Point Of No Return* (original first pressing)
      - Ale, lead; Sandee and Miller backing vocals
      - later pressings : Jurado on lead; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
      *Love Is Our Destiny*
      - Ann Curless, lead vocals; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
      *I Know You Know*
      - Gioia Bruno/Jurado, lead; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing
      *You're The One I Need*
      - Jurado, lead vocals; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals.
      *December*
      - Gioia Bruno, lead vocals; Ale, Sandee and Miller, backing vocals
I'm not sure if the three new girls had backing vocal involvement in the album tracks apart from where they are credited as singing lead.
Also, I am unsure if the singles released from the album, differ in line-up from the original album recordings line-up.

    • @ElectrikArguement
      @ElectrikArguement 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@joesophie90 You almost had it, lol.
Gioia & Ann are not on "Come Go With Me".
It's Jeanette on lead, and Ale & Laurie on back vocals.
Seasons Change - Sequal and Ale do the back vocals. Sequal was uncredited. Even in the 25th Anniv re-release. (Sandee was the original lead on Seasons. The demo exists).
I Know You Know - Yes, Gioia does co-lead with Jeanette, & Gioia also does back vocals/ad-libs thru the song & the end.
And a couple other women also provided vocals on the album as well, after Sandee left. Remember, it was done & ready to go when they got signed to Arista, but then all the changes started to happen. So they didn't have time to re-do the entire thing. So he just had them re-ecord the leads, they did the album photo shoot, & rest was history. Notice the "Come Go With Me" single doesn't have a photo of ANY of the girls. Neither first or 2nd line up. Just artwork. As it was during the transition period. The group at this point was going to be: Jeanette, Gioia & Laurie. When Laurie left, Ann was swiftly added at the end, and the group took off & rest is history. 😊

With all due respect to Jeanette, Gioia, and Ann.. does anyone here wish we could hear the originals perform ALL the songs on Exposure?? Do these recording exist in someone’s vault???

Still sounds the best. Rock & Soul in New York pushed it real hard.

There are people who can't tell the difference. That is bizarre to me. Some people can pick up the smallest nuances. There is a song called "Emergency" by Paramore. The version on the video is much better to me than the cd version---but there are people who say they hear no difference.

This is the definitive version. Any half-decent Dj at the time would have owned at least 2 copies of this '84 version. There was no real need to own more than one 12" of the '87 re-issue with the new lineup.

the low notes were put there because of the singer Ann Curless to make her sound more sexy. this is the best and first version.

I always wondered why I used to hear two different versions of this song in the mix back in the day. Some DJ's would mix both versions together. I prefer Jeanette's vocals over this one, but this is still great!

This first version is unpolished, like a demo. The 2nd version is just right. The remade version is overpolished.

Yeah--according to Wiki (hey, sometimes they get it right) this version was done by them and then left on the album even after the second set of girls took over. Weird.

This version was much better than the one that came out in 1987. The Group with Gioia, Jeanette, and Ann were a better fit for the album though that made group popular.

Esta version es la que más me gusta. Nunca me gustó la subida de tono al final de la primera frase. -- This is the version I like the most. I never liked the tone going up in the final part of the first phrase.
