    You are providing a valuable service to us all. I appreciate the lack of all the back and forth the series take to make an hour show. Keep it up buddy, you're a breath of fresh air! I would like to see you produce a show of your own about Oak Island!

    First time viewer and now new subscriber. Great job in your summary and added detail, I am looking forward to the show tonight. I just want to suggest that on the maps you used I saw one that was light brown and brown- this makes it hard to quickly see what is water and what is land.

    The sand would clog the tunnel and water would not quickly fill the money pit. But it does fill

    This was a very well done synopsis, you are obviously informed and passionate about this subject. But, I don’t believe there is any treasure of any kind in Oak Island. There has never been anything found that can not be readily explained by documented history. People were there centuries ago, they left artifacts, but there is no buried treasure, and honestly some of the theories are down right laughable. If there is ever a proven discovery I’ll admit I was wrong, but the show will continue as long as ratings are up, when they decline and the crew still has found nothing, it will end.

    • @HammersonPeters
      @HammersonPeters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There may not be any treasure down there, but there is definitely something down there which almost certainly has a very interesting story behind it. I can't conceive of how parchment, paper, pieces of chain, and 17th Century human bones could have made their way deep underground without having been put there by man.

    • @sdcoinshooter
      @sdcoinshooter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would agree, and honestly would be thrilled if they found old manuscripts or other interesting artifacts, but I believe those finds were originally on the surface of the island, and unintentionally transferred deep underground by the many digging of previous searches. The area of the money pit has been dug, tunneled, and replaced several times over the last two hundred years, I believe the filling in of these digs resulted in random artifacts being placed deep underground. You have to admit it is a plausible explanation.

    • @HammersonPeters
      @HammersonPeters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sdcoinshooter When it comes to the artifacts I mentioned (particularly the bones), it's not plausible. The Money Pit was first discovered in the late 1700s, and the bones which were brought up (from a depth deeper than any recorded searcher shaft) were dated to the late 1600s. The treasure hunters who dug those pits and tunnels you mentioned throughout the 1800s didn't have a bunch of 200-year-old (at that time) artifacts and skeletons lying around the worksite.

    • @sdcoinshooter
      @sdcoinshooter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you believe the money pit dates to the 1600s, and those bones were from the original “diggers.” I won’t argue that’s possible, and I hope you’re right, but I disagree they could not have been put there by a later searcher. I saw video of that guy in the 60s that basically bulldozed and dug the entire site, then refilled it, there is no telling what kind of items were mixed in with that stuff. He could have dug the bones up from a six foot grave, deposited them in a pile, then that pile went to the bottom of the pit when he filled it all in; unintentionally and unbeknownst to him. They were found deeper then any searcher dig, I didn’t know that but unless it’s significantly deeper, like 50’, I still think it’s possible there were a lot of artifacts (including those bones) that were on or near the surface and got thrown in to the pit at a later time by some searcher filling in their dig.

      @@sdcoinshooter That's an interesting theory. However, the lowest part of Robert Dunfield's pit (Dunfield is the guy who dug a crater in the Money Pit area in the '60s) reached a depth of 140 feet. The human bones were found at a depth of 162 feet (which would have been 172 feet below the surface in Dunfield's day). The theory also doesn't account for discoveries made prior to Dunfield's excavation or discoveries on other parts of the island, which include pieces of old parchment and hand-wrought chain found deep underground. I don't know whether the bones were left by the original depositors or by searchers who were somehow privy to the Oak Island mystery prior to the official discovery in 1795. I just don't think post-1795 searchers had any hand in their interment.
