As a senior on a fixed income and a disc golfer I am disturbed by the PDGA's move toward the increased monetization of tournament coverage. The "Growing the Sport" talk has turned into grow the profit. No Jomez for this tournament is the dagger in the heart for my ability to follow the pro tournaments in a timely manner. It creates a disconnect with a large group of the very fans that have supported and followed the sport from the days of "Frisbee Golf".

You are correct. It isn’t about growing the sport, it is about growing their funds. If they wanted to grow the sport they would get as much reach to as many people as possible, sadly this isn’t their goal.
It's not so much the PDGA that's doing this, it's the Pro Tour + these guys at the DGN. Unfortunately, the PDGA have zero ability to understand how business works so they let themselves get out manoeuvred by Jeff Spring and ended up handing him the keys to basically all the major tournaments (in terms of live streaming at least). All that was required by the PDGA was to allow other "companies" to stream the same tournaments. FYI - there is Jomez coverage... but you have to be on the DGN to see it. As far as I know, you only have to have the lowest membership to see it. What really annoyed me was the "hostile takeover" of Jomez via the ridiculous fee that was imposed on them by the Pro Tour to be allowed film coverage. So when they were "acquired" by the DGN (which happens to have the same owner as the Pro Tour - go figure)... the debt and the future fees vanished. Nice little trick. It's classic monopolistic behaviour.. but God forbid you mention that in the land of the free (market).
They'd be far better off doing what the IFSC (sport climbing) has done. Sell the rights to ESPN, Eurosport etc. It might not be lucrative in the short term but it would open up the coverage to a potential audience of billions who already have those channels.
I couldn’t agree more. As a paid DGN member (lowest tier) I’m blocked on DGN from the same content I can freely watch on TH-cam. I’m ready to cancel my DGN membership.

The lack of resolution includes the overlays so it's a broadcast bandwidth limit on this occasion. At some tournaments you see bad footage with crisp overlays, caused by local connection problems (usually in heavily wooded and/or hilly courses). The exact same footage from post-processed uploads will be in raw 4k.
@@markstanbrook5578 Take a look at any Swedish local tour airing and its 3 times better then this. No trees makes the vids bad so i still say DGN is crap.

Every day DGN continues to post highlight videos with terrible image quality. How the hell do people pay for this crap? Going on multiple years of this terrible quality
People paid for cable TV with half this quality in the 80s already. Answer is: it's not so important. Nobody forces you to pay. I don't pay, I leech.
