I grow cactus, fig and jujube and only the fig gets supplemental water. I have more prickly pear fruit than I know what to do with. The figs are easy to handle..I freeze for use in cooking and smoothies year round. The jujubescare delicious, but even with 2 mature trees I don't get good fruit set. I'm USDA zone 9, Sonoma county California. No rain typically from April to November and summer and September, October can be in the high 90s and 100.

I'm basically trying the same thing in the Southern California desert. I've had failures but a couple of successes. But the strong sun is what usually does them in. The heat they can tolerate.

We are in the high desert and have pomegranate growing. They weren’t watered as much this year so not a lot of fruit but usually a ton. We’ve had success with peaches, apples, apricots, grapes, olives and then lavender and rosemary. Cottonwoods and our Christmas trees. I’d love to grow more fruit trees. Just below us in slightly lower elevation but desert they do great with grapefruit

Paw Paws are common in Kentucky. Kentucky state university has a program dedicated to preserving the fruit.
