    U da man! You're one of the few guys from "our" Gen' of Hawaii's B-boys that can still rock it like u still in High School or something! Most of the old school breakers I bump into all look like me brah - ROUND! with no hope of being able to bust out some moves. I cannot even tie my shoelaces brah, I gotta use slip-ons!
    Aloha my B Bruddah, I'll come by Waik's to say Hi.

    • @SKILLROY67
      @SKILLROY67 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha! =) Do you mean Normal or do you mean Original? The Original 3 Steps or the Normal way of doing it when it was first introduced to us (back in 1983) was done with the sweeping leg crossing over the stationary foot without kicking out the stationary leg and just hopping over the sweeping foot. We elevated the 3 step by kicking out the stationary foot before the sweeping foot came into contact with the stationary foot. Therefore, avoiding a collision with the stationary foot. Watch closely how I explain it in the video and you will see what I'm talking about. Thanks for appreciating the history lesson as well. Aloha my friend :)

    Isn't that Ken Swifts 3step move?

    • @SKILLROY67
      @SKILLROY67 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes and No. It's no one person's 3 step. It's funny that you asked. I have an awesome answer for you. When I got into Rock Steady Crew. I got to meet up with Ken Swift, Crazy Legs, Mr. Wiggles and the rest of the amazing Rock Steady Crew. Shortly after I got into Rock Steady, I went on a tour with Crazy Legs Easy Rock Gizmo from Canada and met up with Tuff Tim Twist in England. While on the tour, I told Crazy Legs how I ended up doing the 3 steps the way I do it. He told me the same thing happened to him. He advanced it by kicking his leg out. So basically, this dance is all about evolution. It evolves with time and practice. Also I remember Ken Swift telling me that someone on his block would create a move and someone on another block would create a similar move also. And he realized that we're all doing similar movements and sooner or later someone is gonna do a move that is similar to someone else in another part of the city, state, country or planet. We live here in Hawaii and we didn't have youtube back in the days so we had no clue what Crazy Legs or Ken Swift's 3 steps looked like. We evolved on our own because we kept practicing every day and creating new moves as we went along on our bboy journey. Hope this helps with your question =) (Our 3 step kick out pattern was created in between '83 and '84)

    • @jeremys2364
      @jeremys2364 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so true bro! The fact that we are far from NY & no internet back in 80'-83' (or even vid cams, only guy had one was K.Luke) yet still rocking similar moves is an example of what u saying. It was so hard to say who was the 1st ever to do a move, but i CAN say that "Pretty Boy" Roy & orig ABC Breakers were well respected in Hawaii & I remember their 3 step. [big aloha to da Homies Roy, Richard, Leonard, Ruben, & Melvin]
