- Here is a rarely seen interview with Ginger Alden, discussing her relationship with Elvis and the circumstances surrounding his death. TV news anchor Chuck Henry sat with Ginger at the Alden family home in February 1978.

In case anybody is interested, Ginger Alden has an audiobook about her time with Elvis on audible. She goes into great detail about her relationship with the king. I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook and can recommend it.
What Elvis gave meant more than anything. He was human and but the good he did far outweighed the bad. RIP ELVIS, we all still love you. There will never be another Elvis, he was truly one of a kind, unique.

If you totally honest I don't think they were that many bad things anyone can ever say about Elvis. Except maybe his temper and shooting TVs. Maybe kicking someone's ass who deserved it. And the medications that he takes prescribed which everybody calls drugs. Charlie Hodge said it best. He had a twisted colon so he has to take major pain medication. He has a bad liver you have to take certain medications you're never too. He has insomnia which is horrible. Charlie had said everybody cause it drugs so everybody thinks he's taking drugs but everything is prescribed medication that he needs to take heart medication liver medication and pain medication for his twisted colon.
@@raywhite4190 I agree with you! I've got 2daughters with Crohn's disease it's very painful! They have both had surgery to remove part of their colon! It was so hard to watch them suffer! Thank God they are doing better now! Nobody knows about pain unless they experience it themselves!

I feel sorry for her bc she always gets left out of the story. I think Priscilla was his wife and mother of his daughter and deserves everything because she went through a lot. However, this lady was important to him. She seems a lot like Priscilla actually.

Pricilla look like Elvis, Lisa Maria looks so much like her Dad because both her parents looked like mirror images of each other. Then we have Ginger, who is another Elvis/Pricilla lookalike. This is odd stuff. Anyway. I’m no physiological analyst so I will leave my comments hanging.
I know...it's crazy, especially on their wedding day, Elvis and Priscilla looked like twins. There's a picture of Elvis and Ginger in the car after a show and Ginger looks like Priscilla's twin, she had to clarify it was her.

I dont know about you but pretty much everyone in the world sleeps longer than 6 hours at night. If you blame her for that then I feel sorry for your loved ones. Checking on him would not have saved him. He literally fell over dead. It happens. He was a Mortal man. As for the lawsuits, I cant say. Loving Elvis does not mean hating Ginger and Elvis would not want that either.

The wedding was off he'd had enough of her, Charlie Hodge & Larry Geller said in an interview "Elvis was getting fed up with Ginger by August billy & Jo his wife said it was getting worse near the end the arguments the drama that was Ginger! when he met her she was over 20yrs younger. his time with her was a part of his life that was unhappy cos he wasn't getting wat he needed from a woman. he was probably happy in the beginning with her but as time went on he wasn't anymore the unrest was getting to him his health getting worse couldn't put up with her drama the constant arguments. Larry said Elvis decided he wasn't going to marry her. Larry was licenced in California to marry people Elvis asked Larry to marry them he agreed Larry said several months later Elvis changed his mind. at first he was going to then he said if i marry her i marry the whole family."!
If you read the accounts of most of Elvis's Memphis Mafia you will learn that Elvis was tired of Ginger Alden and especially her family. According to cousin Billy Smith, Elvis had already replaced her with another woman on the upcoming tour. Alden was on her way out. There was never any wedding plans. Elvis introduced her to the audience as 'My girlfriend'. Alden is not allowed on Graceland grounds to include the gravesite. She didn't go to his funeral. She stole jewelry and other personal items belonging to Elvis before he was pronounced dead. Vernon had her escorted off the property by security never to return. She's a snake who cannot be believed or trusted.

Elvis wanted a wife but he didn't want to be a husband. Although he had his maids and such, a wife is different then a maid, you can't confide in a maid or share personal things with staff like you would your better half. Elvis loved his freedom but he needed to feel grounded that's why he needed a wife since his mama wasn't around anymore to give him that support. He was lost without that grounded support as he became irate and didn't have boundaries when he lost Priscilla

If I listen to his music, my heart still begin to beat fast, but having read much about him, I don’t feel the same about him, as much as I did when I was young. That's what I was thinking. She's a lovely young woman, sweet, nice and Southern like him. I wish that Elvis had lived, gotten healthy and had a successful and happy marriage with Ginger. Maybe even had another child or two. I think as he had gotten a little older and slowed down some, and got control over his own career, he could have only toured when he wanted to and get more into gospel music, since he loved it so much. He could have lived many more happy, healthy years. He was so precious.

Also there was missing jewelry and she auctioned off his famous ELVIS bracelet, so much for cherishing his gifts. also she didn’t awake and saw Elvis not in bed then found him in the bathroom, what happened is she awoke saw Elvis wasn’t there, didn’t bother to check on him, she went to her own bathroom, showered, put a full face of makeup on, phoned her mom for a chat and it was her mom who suggested she checked in on him
When she woke up and saw Elvis wasn’t there she didn’t look for him in the bathroom as she claimed she went into her own bathroom and started her grooming procedure then phoned her mom, it was her mom asked if Elvis was up and when
Ginger said he was not in bed when she awoke, again it was her mom who told her to go look for him. Even a child would have looked for Elvis before phoning their mom for a chat!

Wat was the girl thinking of sleeping while her Elvis is dying a few feet away he should never have been with her she's clearly not cut out to look after him she was NOT suitable for him why she not check on him she was told by cook to check if hes gone in the bathroom for too long.Ginger admitted to taking a sleeping pill & going to sleep why? she knew she had to check on him & when she finally decides to check he's found dead!had she checked sooner it might have been a whole different ball game.! After they split Linda rung the house every day checking on Elvis she didn't have to she wasn't with him anymore but she cared enough she would tell Joe Esposito to go check see if he was ok he said he was fine she said please Joe go check on him for me please she did so much for him.Elvis could fall asleep while eating.she saved him from choking on food a few times. She took food out of his mouth when he fell asleep while eating because he had taken pills Linda would go to sleep while Elvis was still up and about.

Priscilla is the one who kept Elvis' legacy this famous since the day he died, as many people have said before. At the time of this interview, Priscilla had Lisa sent off to summer camp with Joe Esposito's kids so Lisa wouldn't see anything bad about Elvis and his drug use, etc. in the wake of his death and the book release. In the late 70's and 80's, maybe even 90's, Priscilla was VERY guarded about Elvis and their relationship. I'm gonna state an unpopular opinion but I think the one that was really there for Elvis was Priscilla. I know there is so much depth to that but honestly Linda and Ginger just doesn't let up on it. I'm waiting and waiting for Priscilla to tell me something about Elvis in their personal life and all I hear is crickets. You hear everything with them. Elvis asked Priscilla instead of Dick Grob, Larry, Charlie, or Sam Thompson to bring Lisa to Memphis. Priscilla could tell something was wrong so she accepted and tried to reassure Elvis everything would be fine with the book. According to Shirley Dieu in Memphis Mafia princess, "Elvis was so excited to show Lisa his new Ferrari. At least, that's what he said. I think it was obvious he wanted to show it to Priscilla, knowing well it was a school night and Lisa was asleep. Priscilla sued Colonel Parker to save Lisa's inheritance and to keep Graceland running. There's plenty more proof to this.

Ginger's husband Ron, after Elvis's death, died on August 16th also. Isn't that a strange coincidence?? What are the chances?
There are no coincidences. She was probably the best woman for him. Too bad. We all know now he became a pastor, remarried, had more children, lived a quiet life among us and now sings only for the Lord. Clues have always been there. Now that he is 83, more information is slowly coming out.

The first time Ginger saw Elvis’s “hair-trigger temper” was when she refused to immediately call the man she had been dating and end their relationship. Elvis grabbed a bottle of Gatorade and threw it against the wall. “It troubled me that Elvis had flown off the handle like that,” she recalls, but then she adds a naïve rationalization for it. “As odd as this sounds, it also made me feel good to think that Elvis was really that serious about us.” She was to find out how dangerous Elvis’s anger could be. Weeks later a “deafening bang” awoke Ginger one morning at Graceland.
“I bolted upright and saw Elvis standing at the foot of the bed, holding a 57 Magnum pistol in his hand. I risked a glance behind me and saw a bullet hole in the wall above the headboard. I looked back at Elvis, trying to wrap my mind around the idea that he really had just shot a hole in the wall. By way of explanation, Elvis said he had asked for yogurt again and I hadn’t responded. ‘It was an attention getter,’ he said.”
Although she professed to be “in shock and extremely hurt” by Elvis’s action, Ginger accepted his apology, sensing “on a deep level, that Elvis honestly was sorry.” It wasn’t the last time she’d hear gunfire at Graceland. A running toilet in his bathroom so irritated Elvis, that he “blasted it to smithereens” with what Ginger called a “machine gun.” That time, Ginger’s shock turned to anger, she says, and she fled Graceland and ran home to be comforted by her mother. She soon went back to a contrite Elvis, though.
While Elvis and Ginger were vacationing in Hawaii in March 1977, Elvis’s anger resulted in him doing what Ginger called the “inconceivable.” It started with an argument between the two because Ginger felt Elvis had been drinking too much juice. When she left the room while Elvis was still talking, he pursued her into an adjoining room and slapped her on side of her body. “No one ever walks out on me when I’m talking,” he said. “The dark mood had transformed Elvis into someone I didn’t recognize,” Ginger observed. Still, she forgave him. “I could tell by his voice that Elvis was deeply remorseful for having struck me.”
• Ginger tried to help Elvis improve his diet
The yogurt and juice incidents, to which Elvis responded with violent outbursts, were among a number of occasions Ginger says she tried to get Elvis to change his unhealthy diet. Since Elvis had isolated himself in his bedroom, that is where he and Ginger were served their meals. Ginger says that in the nine months she was with Elvis, she never saw him sitting at a table to eat. Early on in their relationship, Ginger spoke briefly with Priscilla on the phone. “See that he eats right,” Priscilla told her, but Ginger quickly learned that was easier said than done.
“I was concerned about his health. When it came to mealtimes, Elvis and I enjoyed eating similar things such as hamburgers, steak, and omelets but I continued to notice certain foods were being brought to Elvis in larger than normal portions. I hoped to move us toward a healthier diet, but I just didn’t know how because he was used to getting what he wanted.”
She says she tried to bring Elvis healthier snacks, like fruit, but he only picked at it. Still, Ginger took that as a “step in the right direction.” Eventually, she thought he was showing “more awareness of his diet.” He was drinking a lot of water and eating less yogurt. But she made that observation on August 15, 1977. It was too late to reverse decades of poor eating habits. Another bad habit, begun in his army days two decades before, would contribute to the fatal event on the next day.
• Ginger was concerned but unable to affect Elvis’s drug use
In a San Francisco hotel room in late November 1976, just 10 days after she met Elvis, Ginger saw him swallow the contents of small yellow packet an aide had brought to their room. “Something to help me sleep,” he told her. The next day another packet was brought to the room for Elvis. It was a mixture of “vitamins, medication, sinus pills, and aspirin,” he said. “These packets were routine,” Ginger realized, “delivered in the same casual manner as the jug of water beside Elvis’s bedside.”
Slowly, Ginger says her awareness of the effects the medications were having on Elvis increased. After watching an aide having to assist Elvis to the bathroom and then back to bed, Ginger says she began to wonder about the yellow packets. “I had no idea what he was taking,” she said, “but it seemed quite strong.” Watching him on stage one night in December, she noticed Elvis uncharacteristically seemed to be forgetting some of the song lyrics. “Could his water pills or any pain medication be affecting his memory?” she wondered. She thought it was odd that he needed sleep medication every night, whether he was on tour, at home, or on vacation. Early on, though, she says she trusted Dr. Nichopoulos to monitor Elvis’s health.
Later she began to attribute Elvis’s bad mood swings to the “prescribed medication” he’d been taking. She finally summoned up the nerve to confront him about those medications.
“One morning, as Elvis called for Tish to bring him medication, I … told him, ‘Elvis, you don’t really need that.’ He looked at me and shook his head. ‘You don’t understand,’ he replied. ‘I need it.’ I wondered-not for the first time-if Elvis had built up an immunity to whatever medication he’d been taking on a regular basis, and that’s why he needed an increase in dosage. Whatever the case, I could only hope the medical professionals overseeing his care knew what they were doing.”
Six months into their relationship, Ginger says she was becoming more concerned about Elvis’s use of “medications” and the long-term effects they might have on him.
“By now it was the middle of May and getting close to the next tour. As before, Elvis seemed anxious about his upcoming performances. He started again asking for more medication to help him get back to sleep whenever he woke up. I had another concern as well. I wondered if this medication could be harmful to Elvis in the long run. A few times, it seemed clear to me that it had affected his mood and behavior in negative ways.”
Ginger says she told him about her concerns. “Any conversation about medication would have to be approached carefully and in time,” she concluded. “I knew I couldn’t change things in one day, but I was determined to keep trying.” Apparently, though, she never felt empowered enough to turn her concern into some sort of action designed to reduce his dependence on drugs.
• Accidental overdoses became a real danger for Elvis

Charlie Hodge told Ginger that Elvis had gone to Las Vegas and had taken too much medication. “It crushed me to see him like this,” Ginger says, but she remained powerless to do anything about Elvis’s unmanaged use of drugs.
Ginger’s depiction of events at Graceland on August 16, 1977, suggests the possibility that another overdose may have contributed to Elvis’s death. Ginger observed Elvis take two of his “sleep packets” that morning. The first one he requested was brought up to his bedroom by Ricky Stanley at about 6:45. Still restless at about 8 o’clock, he called down for another packet, which Ricky also brought up. Ginger says she woke up an hour later to see Elvis head to his bathroom to read. She then slept until about 2 p.m., when she awoke and found Elvis’s body soon afterwards.
In February 1978, Ginger was subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury investigating George Nichopoulos’s medical care of Elvis. At the building where the grand jury was sitting, Ginger says she ran into Nancy Brooks, the Graceland maid. According to Ginger, Nancy told her that Aunt Delta was “afraid because she had given Elvis a third packet of medication the morning he died.” If that happened, it must have been when Ginger was asleep. It’s just one of many personal anecdotes to be found in Ginger Alden’ “Elvis and Ginger.”

Remember seeing this back then Ginger did several interviews and was one of the few who spoke well of Elvis in his final days. If you look at what she's done and said since these interviews she hasn't cashing in or put the knife in like everyone else who knew Elvis has. And it was very fitting that she wrote her book only recently after everyone else had had thier say. All those who say she was after his money have milked their association with Elvis for all it's worth. Elvis must have been serious about her because he introduced her to his audience and he didn't do that with every girlfriend...if he had it would have been a very long show. He probably still loved Priscilla but they weren't ever going to get back together ...Ginger was his last true love and she should be respected for that. If you disrespect her you disrespect Elvis.

To this day, his ring at Graceland has that same cz because his death was shortly thereafter. Watch this on YT, which is titled, within the last 6 months.
