This is the first bmw that gives me the same feeling being inside like my e46 does. Just a beautifully crafted driver focused interior on a good platform with.

Previous 3 series had a bit too much plastic inside and after 20-30k kilometers those plastics started to make annoying sounds over potholes. Let's hope this one is better because it's a fine looking car.

I remember driving last gens 330i thinking it was a 6 cyl for a few days, till someone told me it was only four. Really really impressive what a 4 cyl can do. Apparently if you put a m performance exhaust on they sound pretty good too. 340i though. Anyway last gen 330i was a rocket for a 4 cyl, that thing picked up quicker than most other cars on the road.

I´ve driven one, but 320d with xDrive. The car in itself was fantastic but 60 000 Euro?? Price kills it in my opinion.
Starts from 36 000 Euro and ends at 60 000 Euro. I rather pick a proper equipped E220d for that money.

Finally a great interior in a bmw 3 series ! Not outdated at all with beautiful leather and nice infotainment system ! I think it also has ambient lighting.. can’t wait for a night review to be honest

Great car. The handling is awesome. I’ve had my 330i for a month. And for all those going on about 6 cylinders. Get over it! The world has moved on. This car does zero to one hundred km/h in under six seconds,

The color combination on this car is awsome. I would have picked the same interior color but the other seat design (the merino one). Also the galvanized switches like in the new X3 would have been nice to have.

Owned the prior generation ActiveHybrid 3. I was wicked fast but and drive across the USA on a vacation trip. It was very comfortable but would buy a certified pre-owned in future. Reliability was good.
I had a 2002 E46 330i with a 3.0 inline six. The sounds that engine made were really good, and it was very smooth too, but it had only 225 h.p. and a 5-speed automatic, compared to the 2019 G20 four-cylinder turbo which has 255 h.p. and an 8-speed. If you price the G20 luxury model with no packages or options you'll essentially get what I had in 2002, for a very similar price of about 42k USD. I think that's a bargain these days.
bro i have the same model but 2004. and yeah the motor sound is just fantastic. also, i like manual. these days, they no longer make manual transmission with sucks.
Ive had my g20 330i xdrive for 2 months and have really enjoyed driving it . ive bin real surprised how quick this updated b48 engine is and even had a 5.38 0-60 time the other day. Im sure the b58 engine in the 340i is amazing and would transform this car completely but im happy with this car except for some rough shifting at low speeds when in traffic but other then that its really a great car

Just another 2.0 Turbo with synthetic Sound. Yes, they made it pretty good for what it is. But the Soul of the car is gone. It's a shame. Miss the times when different Manufacturers had different engine types. This is so sad.
I watched a video of an old E46 328i earlier. The engine noise was epic.
Well it's not the manufacturers choice they have to comply with government regulations which are pushing more economical every year. Be happy now soon gas cars won't be sold at all.

it's no coincidence that there are 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 Turbo engines for almost the complete range between 250 and 700hp.

I don‘t know why everybody complains about that 2.0 4 Zyl. Engine „when it says 330“. I haven‘t driven one like most people that comment the engine isn‘t great....
My Dad had a 330d with the 3.0L Engine and got a 520d now, i driven both for many kilometers and i have to say that the 2.0 in the 5 Series feels so good, (now i get hated) for me it even feels better than the 3.0L because you only feel the diffrence from 160-200/220 and on normal country roads you don‘t need the performance above 160 km/h.
BMW's 4 cylinder engines are known to be top tier. They are actually really good and I agree with you, those engines are just nice to drive.
I'm still waiting for the nightdrive review on the new 3 series... Why haven't you made that yet? The ambiient lighting is a dealbreaker for me, and i would like to see how it looks :)

Sounds great for a 2.0l 4 cylinder, even thought it has amplified engine sound. And for those complaining about the fake sound and wanting real engine tone shouldnt be buying this car anyway as thats not what its about! The M340i is for you my friend
The BMW M5 has fake Sound too. Modern Cars are very quiet and comfortable inside. They have to build a Sound Generator in modern Cars.
But it sounds weird even for fake sounds, a GTI sounds better than that. The problem is, most people who buy this car don't care about engine sound, so why even bother putting in weird fake noise?

youtube videos never quite accurately capture the sound of the door closing.
I had one of these as a loaner for two days last week. The iDrive display is crisp and responsive but it had software glitches where it refused to go into certain modes until the car was restarted (the car had sub 500mi/800km). The steering was lifeless and bereft of feedback across all settings and, frankly, it was one of the most uninteresting vehicles I've driven in some time. As expected, the ZF gearbox is almost transparent, with upshifts that can be seen in the tachometer but not felt.
It is nearly wholly lacking in character but I'm sure it will sell very well owing to the badge. If you have a job that requires traveling significant distances on a daily basis, it's probably a good purchase, as it is S-class quiet, economical, and the objections regarding steering feel and character don't matter on the motorway.

Wow, now the 3 series has head up display too - excellent! I had the F30 328i Sport (2014) so the car you're testing is the new generation model and it would appear that BMW has fixed the horrible wind-noise problem from the F30 which I found really annoying at high speeds. Love the dashboard although I am not a fan of the new digital instruments especially since the tachometer now runs counter-clockwise.
The F30 has head up as option, already. And wind noise is not a general problem, my 335d is very quiet up to 180 km/h.

How is m330i compared to m340i? I test drove 330 felt lacking sportivity and too soft or numb suspension/steering. I found my 328 revving better and throw me back much more. Does 340i change lots ?
Back in the day, E46 320i was enough to get NA I6 MT. Now you have to get M cars in order for I6 Turbo. You can’t even get NA I6s anymore.
I don’t care about efficiency, all I want is the soul, driving experience and a big smile. BMW really is not what it used to be

People are not gonna drive I6 daily? You know today’s 330is are thirstier than E46 320i 170hp NA I6? Don’t be fooled with turbocharging, it may be more efficient but it is thirstier cuz the turbo makes the engine breathe more which means more fuel all the time + less reliable. The list is long

@@brbhave2p00p4 Small NA engines have no torque at the low end, so every time u want to pass someone u have to rev the crap outta the engine. That may put a smile on an enthusiast's face but it's just annoying and embarrassing to normal people. With turbo 4, the engine speed can be kept lower while doing the same work an I6 does. I know how appealing high-revving race car-like engines are, but 99% of people who buy a 3 series don't care any about that. It's just a business decision to BMW. They wouldn't want to sacrifice the majority of their customers for petrolheads.

Talk about soul=zero however BMW has done an amazing job with that interior especially this colour combination. This car has lost it all in terms of driver connection, it is interestingly fast, but it doesnt sing to you, it doesnt talk to you..

If you want to buy an E46 or elder BMW, 328 means 2.8 liters, 320 means 2 liters, 316 means 1.6 liters.

Their marketing department wants to add numbers to make up for their inabilities.
Back in the day power delivery was mainly depending on engine displacement. Therefore the model badge was used to indicate what your car was capable of. Today manufacturers developed their own nomenclature system for engines, a necessary and logic decision regarding the fact that nowadays only a few different engines are used with different or same setups in different models
