Hearing about the first story broke my heart. I also grew up LDS but was sexually abused and that screwed me up pretty bad. I’m so sorry for whoever experienced that entire thing:(
I am so glad OP in the first story left LDS and was able to find support and love in other places. I work as a sexual assault survivor advocate and that entire story horrified me. The way her community, church, and family had her believing such horrible things about herself... it just made me so angry. Some of those feelings are common and even expected after assault, but to not support and encourage a survivor and to allow the self-hatred to continue was a complete failure on their part. Please know that intimate contact without your consent is assault and it is *not* your fault!
I don't believe much of what she is saying and I am a retired psychologist. And you are blaming the LDS church, based on her story in which she admits to being in touch with some old guy for long term?
@@carmenortiz5294 If you were a psychologist, you would know that children and teens who are sexually assaulted or abused will often display risky behavior or hypersexualization. If she thought she had no future with a husband because of what happened with her boyfriend, based on the beliefs she was raised with, I could absolutely see her not caring about herself and feeling like she had no other "use". It didn't seem like it was that long-term. She was being groomed by an older man. It's possible her story was embellished but literally all of these stories have some degree of that. @@colbymarsh2074 I wouldn't say dumb. Naive, is more accurate. I have friends who were raised Mormon and they were very sheltered growing up in a community known for strict parents. The first story is a perfect example of why you should teach your kids to follow their gut instincts. I have a ton of Mormon friends and many of them are really naive. This world is ugly and sheltering your kids from reality is the worst way to deal with it.
It sounded like a modern day Grimm's fairy tale: There once was a poor family who had so little to eat the eldest daughter often went to bed hungry so that the younger children could eat. Despite her beauty and kind heart, her parents despaired of marrying her off because she had allowed herself to become impure......Thus it was she found herself in the employ of a repulsive old libertine......

As a probation officer with multiple people on ankle monitor, yes that's a scary situation of the manniquin legs guy. Most likely he was violating his conditions of parole.
That first story made me so sad. She should have been taught to speak up when she feels uncomfortable and to leave any conversation that makes her feel that way. And to have her completely brainwashed to make her feel “ruined for future husband” is just abuse in itself.

For story 7: Did I hear that right? The girl in the story was a 13yr old? Let me get this straight and avoid the paranormal experience: Your whole family minus your siblings who are much older than you, decide leaving you with your grandmother who has advanced dementia is a good idea??? No offense, but I’m sure your family were in some way taking advantage of you. It wasn’t that they were busy, it was for the fact that nobody wanted to take care of her because she was difficult and probably dangerous. They obviously were aware of her behavior and it baffles me that they thought you were qualified for the job. How far away is your grandmother? I’m not saying you weren’t reliable at all, and you seem more mature than most, not to mention responsible and kind-hearted, which was prob why they put you to the task, but this is a task even caregivers would have trouble doing. Your dad by all accounts would have been more qualified to take care of her while you would stay and take care of siblings. I don’t mean to be rude and I’m just expressing my opinion which doesn’t count , but a barely 13 year old shouldn’t take care of someone with dementia as they can be unpredictable and downright dangerous sometimes.
I feel bad for the first o.p and know she felt less worthy but why on earth not just ask her family if she could help raise funds and have them help job search? Why did it have to be secret. Her family were not destitute. It was for a wedding. Money was not really needed so badly. She mentioned needing food but they had some cars and luxuries they could sell if starving was a real concern.
I’m a Lakota Sioux as well, Standing Rock tribe are our neighbors. It’s true. Human trafficking for tribes is scary high, reason for not letting my little nephew outta my sight. Little native children, women and even men go missing.

Why would you send your kid to your abusive mother's place? I mean, I understand she's older but I wouldn't send my kids to my own mother's place alone. She wasn't nice to us growing up either.
If the person from the first video contacts Dan farr or emails fanx ( it's called fanx due to legal bull ) tell them about home and what he's done and they will take care of it
Hello ,,, thank you for this video I appreciate your hard work 🙋🏻♀️🙏🏻🍃🌹🙏🏻🍃🌹🙏🏻 ,,, I don’t comment a lot here but I have been listening to a video for a long long time specially before you sleep it’s so relaxing to hear your story and your voice ,,, 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
So the 1st story, my man (the older brother) lives in a house where the younger siblings have to pretend to sleep so the others can eat because they don't have enough food... and he spends money on video games?
And suppodly a girl torn apart by her stigma of being "soiled" is lying repeatedly to her family (also a "sin") to go to someone whose made it clear that SEX is an interest -- but swears she doesn't have a clue (and even wouldn't mind dying) and is only going along with it to make "wedding money"...uh huh. Because there are no other options in the entire universe. Oh, and she's Mormon. It's all def the Mormon's fault. Don't forget.
The highlight of my day was seeing this had been uploaded, me and my hubby have date night and these stories are one of the things we look forward to most!
The first story breaks my heart. The amount of shaming and victim blaming within the LDS church is something I don't think I'll ever forgive. Out of all the places I've been, Utah is my least favorite. Too much drug use and creepy behavior. Especially in Salt Lake City.
The scariest thing that almost all those stories come from women , who took all the “recommendet “ precautions to avoid being harassed . However it didn’t work and never worked . Moral of the story victim blaming is one of the biggest bull*hit to ever exist
I understand trauma and assault, as I was sexually assaulted when I was 18. However, the girl in the first story put herself in the predicament she was. She not only knew everything was wrong, but her gut was screaming at her not to go. Yet she went. She's lucky the creep was stupid and let her alone for a bit.
Oh Lort #1. Major cringe. I don't know what was the worst part. Maybe the home maker mom should've got a job and let the older kids babysit the younger kids while she worked so the kids didn't have to fake sleep during dinner to make sure the young ones ate and maybe not put themselves in physical danger in order to help pay for weddings and food. Priorities are all messed up in that family.
I'm at work and story 3 started and as soon as they talked about their adhd, I was like " Me... Me" like honestly facts on that. Oof. I love listening to this stories at work
I have to say, after listening to a lot of your stories, you're a terrific narrator! Other than a smooth voice, and do convincingly impressive impressions of other characters, you intone feelings well as on emotional stories you had me downright teary eyed. Thanks for all you do 👍

Don't forget.
me living in utah listening to this 👁👄👁
Love me some Lets Read during work. And when making dinner, taking a walk, cleaning my house. ANY time is a good time for Lets Read!

Ugh. Utah has so many creeps.
I've lived in Logan twice now and I know there's predators everywhere but Utah is the worst I've dealt with.
Thank you for all the work you put into this channel and your podcast! It’s my go to!!! You’re awesome 💕
Yea new vid 🤪 ok enough excitement, off to sleep 💤 😴
Literally in the post it said "and a little more if ur easy on the eyes" lmao who tf would accept that shiz
Bruh, it only got worse... imagine using an abusive x as an excuse to put yourself in such a position. Maybe I'm being too harsh but come on
Bed time is always sorted when you upload man keep it up
My favourite yt channel ❤
The first story breaks my heart. The amount of shaming and victim blaming within the LDS church is something I don't think I'll ever forgive.
Out of all the places I've been, Utah is my least favorite. Too much drug use and creepy behavior. Especially in Salt Lake City.
Greetings from Spain.
Greetings from the 🇺🇸 my friend!! God bless
I want to go :(
The grandmother story reads like the plot of a Dario Argento movie…
The scariest part is not being able to leave Utah.
The scariest thing that almost all those stories come from women , who took all the “recommendet “ precautions to avoid being harassed . However it didn’t work and never worked . Moral of the story victim blaming is one of the biggest bull*hit to ever exist
what men fear is that their date is fat, what women fear is they might get murdered or trafficked

Thanks for another very interesting and chilling vid Lets Read! :) .
Literally the scarriest part is adds popping up when you are half asleep
You inspired me and my channel! Hope I will have at least close success as you! Thank you, you're the best! :)
The story with the creepy grandma was scary af
Thank you Let's Read 🍻🍀💚
I'm at work and story 3 started and as soon as they talked about their adhd, I was like " Me... Me" like honestly facts on that. Oof. I love listening to this stories at work

I have to say, after listening to a lot of your stories, you're a terrific narrator! Other than a smooth voice, and do convincingly impressive impressions of other characters, you intone feelings well as on emotional stories you had me downright teary eyed. Thanks for all you do 👍
id pay for a redhead to clean my house lol
The old guy from the first story is a with lord😬
Ice cream & listening to this. What’s better.
