    I agree,with the added extension it does look clumsy/top heavy.

    Your garage set up looks like the tool isle display at Home Depot lol.
    Definitely a super nice set up 👍🏻. Ive tired the Milwaukee battery powered extended hedge trimmers (cut great, but lacked the speed of gas) but haven’t used the dewalts before. Seem to cut pretty clean, I just don’t know if I can give up gas powered equipment yet. Would be ideal for home owners with light maintenance.

    Thanks for your review , I actually have one of these plus the pole and I find it very effective between seasons, the only thing that always worries me is the play in the swivel joint, though it's still going strong after 12 months.
    I couldn't do without it.
    For first and last cuts, on my Beech hedge , I use my Bosch 240 v mains trimmer as it has the power I need to get the job done straight and quickly 😊

      Where did you get that middle extension pole that is compatible with the Dewalt DCPH820B Pole Hedge trimmer. I have not been able to find it, even from Dewalt directly. Is it a 3rd party accessory? Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks for posting this review! I did purchase this trimmer although I was concerned with that flopping around at that pivot point. But after using the trimmer it doesn't affect the performance at all like you mentioned. Thanks for the review and Im glad I purchased mine!

    Will the hedge trimmer do well against blackberry canes? Some of them are hard and about 1/2" thick, or would I be better off using the pole saw attachment to tame them? Thanks!

    Dewalt should have a on off switch further up the handle so it can be operated with the battery end acting as a counter weight.

    • @MiserableOldFart
      @MiserableOldFart ปีที่แล้ว

      The safety switch definitely need improvement. It's a real PITA to operate when on a ladder balancing the weight of the piece.
      It might even make sense to add a cord so the weight of the battery could be in a backpack or such. But yes, at intermediate reach the battery weight would balance it better..

  • @MiserableOldFart
    @MiserableOldFart ปีที่แล้ว

    I have one, and it's ok, but it needs an extension pole, another 2 or 3 feet. I'm sure it will be hard to control at that length, but it would surely come in handy.

      I agree, I have one and need that 2.6 ft middle extension that is shown in the video. Have you found this item anywhere? Dewalt says they don't have a compatible middle extension for the DCPH820B. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for the video.I bought a cheapie gas powered pole hedge trimmer and it is horrible. I’m looking to buy a battery one. I’m on the Bosch platform which was a huge mistake because in America there just isn’t enough of their products available so I’m going DEWALT for yard tools

    Does the blade detach for replacement or for sharpening, or do you have to maneuver the blade to the right position to sharpen?

  • @breaktime919
    @breaktime919 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thoughts on having a pole, vs normal size hedge trimmer? if you could only have one, wouldn't you have to opt with the one with the longer reach of the two?

    • @MiserableOldFart
      @MiserableOldFart ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought the normal sized one first, but use both. The pole trimmer can be a little ungainly on the low branches. It's usable, but not perfect. If the choice is either/or, I'd get the pole, but the heights involved would be the determining factor. I have hemlock hedges that are about 11 feet high, co I need the pole and a ladder too.

    Worry I have is it looks a bit short especially for the taller person and the extension featured looked a bit wobbly and soft, i never have an issue with DeWalt at work because they are comfortable and hardy and Pro, just this one looks a bit soft and underpowered maybe for where you have to get through the job, just wondering?. Thanks.

    I have a pole saw that has an additional 3' extension could I use it on this? If it comes with an extension, like the pole saw, do you think the can be combined? I have some, soon to be tall, Thuja trees that I need to be thinking about how tall I want to let them get.

      I think it is called a middle extension and I've seen the term "stackable" used also. But YOUR video shows it exists and works...and that helps me know that it actually exists somewhere! Thanks for any help you can provided.
