Majalaya is a sub-district city in southeast Bandung. Since the 19th century, in Majalaya there have been several agricultural and plantation product processing industries. Other industries in Majalaya are tiles, ceramics, firewood and woven goods. Agricultural and industrial products in Majalaya are also sold in the local market
sold outside the area, especially to the city of Bandung. Before the construction of the Railway (KA), transportation used carts or carts. Of course, this traditional transportation requires quite a long time and costs a lot more than using the train.
Several private entrepreneurs applied for a concession to the government to build a railway from Bandung to Majalaya. The construction of the Dayeuhkolot-Majalaya railway line was finally carried out by the government, the idea of building this railway line had been planned since the measurement of the Bandung-Kopo (Soreang) railway line was carried out.
Apart from reasons for economic reasons, the construction of the railroad extension to Majalaya is to connect the railroad to densely populated settlements in the Ciparay District and
Majalaya Onderdistrict, in these two places there are quite busy markets as well as growing industries and plantations.
The 17.5 km Dayeuhkolot-Majalaya Railway Line was started in 1920 and was completed at the end of 1921 while the opening was carried out on March 3, 1922 (Verslag Der Staatsspoor en Tramwegen in Nederlandsch India 1921 Jaarstatistiken).
During the Japanese Occupation, in 1942 the Dayeuhkolot-Majalaya Railway was dismantled. Referring to Het Indische Spoor In Oorlogstijd: Jan de Bruin, 2003, in mid-June 1945, Japan was building a railroad to Majalaya but with the Cicalengka-Majalaya route, but construction stopped midway because Japan had surrendered to the Allies in August 1945.
