It was a more compelling 4-0 series than Giants/Tigers in 2012.

Also, they had a good number of injuries, Kevin Brown was coming off of a leg injury and the flu. Chances are this is an extra inning game if the Padres had a healthy lineup
Imagine intentionally walking someone to get to Scott Brosius. I understand that it's a baseball IQ move with a force possibility at any base, but it's Brosius! He was hitting .370 and leading the team in postseason RBIs and he made them pay for that walk!

I really think Vazquez or Loaiza should have started game 7 once el duque said he was unavailable, but those guys were gassed because brown was knocked out of game 3

Mark McGwire's clean grab as a fan in the front row of a foul bouncer by Knoblauch is the most replayed part of the whole game video. I love the 98 Yanks but I did always feel like this clinching game was actually quite boring and that confirms it.

Ironic that Kevin Brown lost Game 4 here to get swept, but his two dreadful performances in 2004 for the Yankees prevented them from executing a sweep
Brown pitched in game 3 where the Yankees won, not that he was any help however.
@@iamhungey12345 he was rocked in the second inning (Red Sox batted around, scoring more runs even after a home run had cleared the bases, and it would have been worse had manny ramirez not run into the last out at 3rd base) and then pulled, leaving Vazquez to throw almost 100 pitches and the Yankees still needed to use the bullpen for three more innings after that. I really think Vazquez or Loaiza should have started game 7 once el duque said he was unavailable, but those guys were gassed because brown was knocked out of game 3
@@TheLocalLt Brown pitched in 3 and 7. Had the Yankees won Game 7 it would not be a "sweep".
@@iamhungey12345 true but my main point is that his poor outing thinned and tired their pitching staff, including for game 4. When that game went to extra innings, instead of having to go with short relievers or Loaiza, the Yankees could have used Vazquez instead.
@@TheLocalLt Yeah though keep in mind blowing scoring opportunities in the extras in Game 4 and 5 doesn't help. Not sure if Vazquez would have been that much better than Brown had he started Game 7. I probably would have more confidence in El Duque even in short rest.
