This is unquestionably an excellent, highly effective gun disarm technique. However, I think the same basic technical method with slight modifications could be a highly effective and practical knife disarm as well. Let's say an attacker executes a straight stab or slightly upward stab to the stomach area. This technique would be practical as the defender would be required to drop, against a right hand stab, his left hand upon the adversary's incoming right wrist on top. Then as the knife weilding hand is stabalized the left hand would come up from underneath in uppercut fashion and seize the opponents knife holding hand on the bottom of the wrist. This is practical with regard to safety as the defender is turning his torso to the outside of the attacking knife weilding arm as the attacker's wrist is being seized. The technique is additionally practical as the defender is using more gross motor muscle groups in twisting his body torso and seizing the knife holding wrist. The technique is highly effective as the defender drapes his left arm over the attacker's arm just as in Itay Gil's gun disarm for additional points of contact leverage force pressure upon the opponents knife holding arm. After establishing a secure grip upon the opponents arm the defender can continue to drop sit his body weight or counter rotate his body torso which in either case will effectively disarm the attacker.
