@Ricky Styles Rolling blackouts are recommended especially during a heatwave and wildfires raging throughout the state. The grid in Cali didn't come close to failing, but Texas' independent grid nearly failed which would've left millions without power for weeks if not months. People are calling out Texans for their hypocrisy. Oh and election fraud didn't get Biden in office. 81 million people voted for him and he received (more than) the 270 electoral college votes needed to win. Texas republicans should've been focused on updating their infrastructure instead of suing other states over baseless claims of election fraud and they wouldn't have went through the power outages. Well, excuse me, their constituents wouldn't have been without power. At least Raphael Cruz cared enough to shoot a photo-op of him putting a case of water in someone's car after he was exposed fleeing the state for Cancun. 😂😂😂🤣🤣
@Ricky Styles California's grid didn't cause the wildfires dude. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And yes, other states had rolling blackouts, but I guarantee their grids didn't almost collapse over ice and 6 inches of snow. As someone whose from Hawaii where every year we're told by the news, government officials, and civil defense to prepare prepare prepare for hurricane season, earthquakes, lava flows, tusnamis I'm surprised at the amount of unprepared people in Texas whose a state that does get hit by hurricanes!
According to Rick Perry, Texans would rather go 3 days without power and get price gouged when the power comes back on so the power companies can avoid having to maintain their equipment. Rick Perry doesn't speak for me or any other Texans without power that are burning their furniture in the fireplace.
I live outside of Austin and my power had been out 3 days during record cold temps with no answers from the city, county or electric company (Oncore). I was initially thinking of getting solar panels and a generator once this crisis passes but now I'm thinking it may be time to move out of Texas. This may be a great place to set up business and make a ton of money but this storm is proof that Texas' free market philosophy will not help the regular citizen in a crisis.
Unfortunately, this is what happens when the governor refuses to update and weatherization of oil, gas and wind infrastructure. Reports that were given to him years ago.
My son lives he was told it was the green power glad he knows better .Maybe the federal regulations are not so bad after all as it does hold corporations accountable Texas you this one to Perry and Cruz thank you very much
He said, "you can't expect the people who caused the problem, to fix the problem." Amen to that. Because when $money$ is involved, caring about the well being of people is out the window and the door!
Climate change is not just global warming. We need nucular power so that this tragedy never happens again. In LatinX neighborhoods of Laredo and El Paso people were freezing without power
In spite of the damage and loss of life and comfort here in Texas, I am glad that this happened to expose the callous attitude of most Republican officials once more and again here in Texas. In ancient times, when Calamity after Calamity would effect the people, the king queen or priest would get thrown into a volcano or something. Traditional values... The Right should be the last ones calling for a return of 'the good ole dayz'. Modern times call for the realization that all deregulation is not a good thing. And that government is not by default an unnecessary impedance on freedom. The political Right is wrong once more and again.
That's rediculous. 14 days is my limit with power outages. I'm just not willing to do it any longer than that if I can drive to another state that has power.
The electrical grid in Texas is privatized, deregulated and removed from interconnected networks to avoid federal regulation and increase profits to a small number of wealthy individuals
Ahhh, but the Cheapskates of ERCOT chose to pay stockholders instead of investing in maintaining and upgrading their grid, landed them in this position and should be held liable, taken to the Civil Court's this Spring....along with the Incompetent, Greedy Politician's....
Don't have to go that far. In southern Colorado, right across the NM border, all along the highway I would take if I was driving to TX and less than 200 miles from the Texline, TX there are dozens of the exact same wind mills running day and night in sub 0 F temps. They paid for the extra winterizing "accessories" (thanks for that Tucker).
If you had solar on your roof ...you have power. Energy independence is imperative. You can run a pellet stove ,cook on it and heat with it.We in Vermont deal with cold for months. This is a problem that arrives in the form of not dealing with the fact of relying on others to keep your lights on.
Hasn't been a great Governor in TX since ANN RICHARDSON. Years of in the energy industry pockets types....First a Hurricane disaster then a Covid-19 disaster now a power disaster. So symbolic. Let's hope there is a "collapse". Abbott, Patrick and certainly Cruz need to GO.

These disasters are extremely compounding the awareness of the public on how bad our government has failed us. Maybe in some strange paradoxical way, it’s speeding up progress.
It's the beginning of the end for Texas, nex summer they would have deadly record breaking heat
How u figure that????
@Ricky Styles California's power grid didn't fail. Texas' nearly did.
@Ricky Styles As recommended to conserve energy, yet the grid in Cali didn't nearly collapse.
No one is "hating" on Texas. I would hate on Vermont or Massachusetts before I even thought about being triggered about Texas.
The glasses didn't make Rick Perry any smarter.
Oops. --Rick Perry
Rick Perry is a classic text book case of a psychopath.
Hmm ... so resistance to federal regulation, but acceptance of FEMA.
But only for Texas, not for other states.
It's the Republican way.
Perry's next said: "stay out of Texas's business just leave that federal money."

As someone whose from Hawaii where every year we're told by the news, government officials, and civil defense to prepare prepare prepare for hurricane season, earthquakes, lava flows, tusnamis I'm surprised at the amount of unprepared people in Texas whose a state that does get hit by hurricanes!
Too bad we can't all get on a plane to Cancun.
The people who do not want to be a part of the Union now must depend upon the Union for help.
We have no water and it is awful. So many of us are suffering and we are currently under another storm.
According to the Washington Post, photographs exist of Ted Cruz flying off to Cancun-not quite as cold there, I imagine...
I work for a warehouse that supplies grocery stores in Dallas and for the last three days most of us have not been able to drive to work....!!
According to Rick Perry, Texans would rather go 3 days without power and get price gouged when the power comes back on so the power companies can avoid having to maintain their equipment. Rick Perry doesn't speak for me or any other Texans without power that are burning their furniture in the fireplace.
You would think refunds would be more in order rather than consumer penalties.
How about people rely on themselves and not the government?
We should be grateful when we can sleep and wake up in a good home and eat well.may God be with everyone even in the midst of the storm..
Unfortunately, this is what happens when the governor refuses to update and weatherization of oil, gas and wind infrastructure. Reports that were given to him years ago.
That mass exodus out of California might have just slowed down
Good🤦♀️
So sad to see people walking thru mud waiting in line to fill buckets with water

Please tell Gov. Abbott that the check is in the mail from the fossil fuel industry
Don’t forget Oklahoma I was without power for 14 days in the 73118 area
That's rediculous. 14 days is my limit with power outages. I'm just not willing to do it any longer than that if I can drive to another state that has power.
The electrical grid in Texas is privatized, deregulated and removed from interconnected networks to avoid federal regulation and increase profits to a small number of wealthy individuals
If they ever do decide to secede, they wouldn't last 2 years. 😎
Father help the people we need you to come down to earth right now. We are crying out for your help.
Texas was talking about succession a month ago...they didn't make it till the end of February before they needed help from the federal gov't.
Sue them for not wanting to be regulated. Make them pay you back every cent you gave them. Then invest in solar panels off their grid.
I think it’s time we “MESS with Texas!”
Envy those students who have had Prof. Bullard, with his great intellect and terrific sense of humour. Who would not be "engaged" during his lectures?
Where is Ted Cruz your favorite senator!

Why is Wreck-It Rafael hiding in Cancun?

Greenland has many windmills. Theirs are adapted for cold weather.
@@AmeriMutt76 Heading West on I-40, I saw plenty of working windmills during extended freezes....
Your free market approach with little regulation got you this
More would die if it wasn't a free market
If you had solar on your roof ...you have power. Energy independence is imperative. You can run a pellet stove ,cook on it and heat with it.We in Vermont deal with cold for months. This is a problem that arrives in the form of not dealing with the fact of relying on others to keep your lights on.
People don't know. Just think both ways not just your way. There is always a reason. BLESSINGS
Hasn't been a great Governor in TX since ANN RICHARDSON. Years of in the energy industry pockets types....First a Hurricane disaster then a Covid-19 disaster now a power disaster. So symbolic. Let's hope there is a "collapse".
