To be honest, I was dismayed by the modern art of magic becoming too soft, but this video and the way you presented each of the sphere separately with haunting music playing in the background made me so happy and horrify how this plane has become a damned world unto itself.
@@DiceTry The slides that you show definitely shows that WOTC is willing to bring back some of the horror elements to the game as a whole. Though over the years other mature themes that were part of the earlier sets like excessive skin showing or crude humor have taken a heavy backseat to the kind of more generic fantasy art. Some of new art is not bad and some are drop dead gorgeous, I just prefer the more painted art style and muted art style up to the mid 2010.
@@DiceTry the game has gotten too big and visible for them to be a be able to do art as horrific as the original New Phyrexia back in the Scars block. The shareholders would flip their collective lids if somewhere in the Bible Belt or a major retailer said 'no', or started a moral panic on Tucker's White Power Hour.
@@EmperorPylades If D&D can make it through the satanic panic then I don't see MtG dying because of one, more brutal set. it's not like we don't already have worse stuff in media happening.
A rebel like you only has one place within the hierarchy of New Phyrexia: to undergo phyresis and become part of the one like all the rest. Glory to Elesh Norn. Glory to Phyrexia. ALL WILL BE ONE!
I was thinking about Datne's _The Divine Comedy_ when the nine layers were meantions. Not two seconds later, there's a drawing of Hell from _The Divine Comedy_ . 😂
Cool video. I didn't know New Phyrexia was layered that way. Btw the phrase "forgone conclusion" means its a gurantee. So if "survival is a forgone conclusion" means you will survive. Otherwise very good prose. Imo. 👍
Does anyone else think that the art for the miyosynth gardens looks like that one scene from Studio Ghibli film _Nausicaa of the Vally of the Wind_ where Nausicaa and Asbel are under the Toxic Jungle?
I really like your narrating voice. For some reason it sounds to me like you have an accent similar to the VA who plays Vraska in the Voice of All MTG narrations. I realli like it. Accent aside, I really loved the video, the narration, everything! Awesome job!
I would live in the surgical Bay, but would venture into the Dross pits and the Hunter maze. In the maze i would test my creations, in the dross i would test myself
Very nice work on this video.. !!! I mean I'm a fan of your other videos as well but feel you really hit home with this one.... Love how you stand out as a different video then what ryhstic studies ( who did not make a video this set) would cover and explain....I think that makes sense and not saying your other videos don't stand out amoungst your compitition🤐🤐and now I'm doing what ur video did not carrying mindless on ...simply put GOOD WORK! I kind of wish that the order of the spheres was different... if just so that it created a stronger parallel to the 9 circles of hell. I'd have placed black in the fourth sphere (to align with greed), red on the fifth (to align with wrath) blue on the sixth (to align with heresy) and green on the seventh (to align with violence)
@@DiceTry Maybe even in an actual set even. Imagine a plane like capenna, but more open to exploring the wastes. And it gradually turns out that the plane was phyrexia.
Dice, can we please get more vids like this, but maybe for the more current story? I would love to have you narrate and compose a vid about kharlov. Appreciate you. Binging everything. Recommending you to friends
@@DiceTry My personal favorite set is Innistrad from 2012. Loved your vid on werewolves. Phyrexia is so interesting and I have you to thank for my understanding of the 9 spheres. Looking forward to your content
Wotc really dropped the ball to tell a decent story after Alara. After then its been glimpses. No main plot just scattered stories with a to be continued hook at the end. They tried doing eldriza, dropped that plot for new phyrexia then dropped again for nicol bolas and in-between those stories you have minor plots some of which still haven't resolved. Then they realized they pulled off the major sin in writing which is having way too many simultaneous plots going off at once so they tried to close everything at once....and the end result well its all been disappointing. The lore was the reason for me sticking around and now that its trash my interest is gone
That isn·t Phyrexia , it·s New Phyrexia . Phyrexia was an unknown metal plane visited by Dyfed and Yawgmoth 9000 years ago . New Phyrexia was an artificial silver plane called Argentum . They are completely different planes . #ProjectStrix #AaHtDe #ThisIsWhy
Imagine you are a Phyrexian. Which sphere would you reside in?
The Furnace, so much fun to be had.
Or the Tangle, since that's where Glissa is ;)
Very brave
I see opportunity in the pits, and the closest thing to peace in the fair basilica.
If you are strong, the pits may hold promise
I’m here for The Furnace, The Hunter’s Maze, and The Fair Basillica in that order.
I absolutely love phyrexia. It's my favorite plane. I'd be a phyrexian 🖤

The new art isn't as overtly horrific, but it does really portray a Plane where horrific deals are done.

despite being a furnace, the third sphere sounds pretty chill
Phyrexia seems to be a really good place to visit, maybe the *perfect* place to live in

My favourite setting in all of MTG. Thank you for covering this!
I started playing Magic around Mirrodin Besieged/New Phyrexia so I've been loving this set! I only wish the actual sphere lands were better.

Tyrranax Atrocity
