Great music, wondeful Andreas and Orchestra. I didn't know this piece but I think is wonderful. Makes me think in George Gerschwin's music. Thank you very much for sharing this jewel. Amazing. Can't stop watching. Wish I was there.
Beats the stuffing out of Martin Frost's effort for sure. What is it about Frost that he is always trying to show of his speed and his overly fast triple or LOL! quadruple tonguing. Part two with the drums is particularly jazzy! He made it his own instead of just straight copying of Shaw! Excellent work! I am a fan of Shaw for 70 years and I say I love this.
Vollkommen richtig!!!
I know this hall. Before Corona I was always coming here and listening concerts.I really missed here...To be honest I missed the orchestra members too!! haha Soloists were changing but they were always same :)
Sorry, sounds more like an exercise from Lazarus book 1. Listen to Artie Shaw play it and you'll know why he doesn't "swing" Nice try though, but stick with Mozart and the Berlin Phil.
Conductor is Lorenzo Viotti, He is conducting and also playing. to be honest an orchestra actually does not need a concductor in every piece.. ''Personal opinion''
I LOVE his playing. But this is awful. It almost feels like he has contempt for ‘jazz’ clarinet. Use your beautiful sound, don’t make it worse and think it’s ‘jazz’.
If there is only one way to play a piece, it's not worth it.Here was fun of international cross over, an Austrian, Italian playing with a Turkish orchestra
I understand that, but after all he is a classical trained clarinetist. And also playing the German system. I think that also makes a big difference in interpretation and tone.
I don't understand what the problem is. Andreas is an excellent clarinetist. Music is all about interpretation and if you have any respect for music as an art, you should know that. If everyone played a peice in the exact same way, then why even bother performing? This is his take on the peice and he can play it how he likes, if you enjoy the original more, then listen to that. You also need to keep in mind that most non musicians appreciate the skill required to play a peice and not how it is interpreted. I respect the work put into this performance and a different take is always welcome in my eyes. If you prefer the way that Artie performed, listen to that instead and take your comments elsewhere.
The drummer, unfortunately, couldn't make up his mind to play the tom tomming like Nick Fatool (original drummer on the Shaw 12-inch 78) or speed up like Gene Krupa's "Sing, Sing, Sing." It seems like he didn't know what he wanted to do and the result was a disappointment. If you are going to play this composition, you don't mix it up. Result: Confusion.
"They don't mean a thing, cause they ain't got that swing" Very poor interpretation of a jazz concert, by the clarinetist and "drummer". You have to take it serious to not sound ridiculous.
Wow! I love this video - Andreas is such a talent!
That is unexpected!!! The conductor is the drummer!!! WTF!!! Ottensamer is magnificent and talented as so he is handsome!!!! OMG!!!

Andreas Ottensamer is a super genius on the clarinet, and he is THE handsomest classical musician. Period.
Ohhhhhhhh that sounddddddd love itttt
I loved it: so much talent and anunexpected condutor and drummer! Wonderful!

Super ! J'adore
Quel Bonheur !!! Magnifique !!! MERCI
Extraordinario!!
Even Arthur J. Arshawsky (Artie Shaw) would have been ' blown away' by Mr. Ottensamer's performance of his Masterpiece.

That was outstanding !!’ Bravo.

freaking awesome
There's cool and then there's cool
an ending that shaw himself would be astounded by

Bravo!!
Hammer!!!
Watching jazz musicians have meltdowns in comment sections of classical players playing the Shaw Concerto is my new favorite hobby 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bravo!!!!!
Wow first comment!!!
Magnifique!
Now that’s music,,well written and extremely well performed! Shame o the Grammys trash.,!!
J'adore! Bravo!

The best on yt
the texture at 6:20 is so cool
I know this hall. Before Corona I was always coming here and listening concerts.I really missed here...To be honest I missed the orchestra members too!! haha Soloists were changing but they were always same :)
Pretty funny to see him play it on a German system clarinet.
Sensacional!
World's Hottest Cellist sits right in front of Lorenzo haha
😳
Just...WAW!!!!:*:*:*
Jazz on German clarinet? Wow!
COMME POUR MR.HAUSER MERCI LE GENIAL ANDREAS MERCI

Envidioso
Freaking amazing player, maybe best to stick to the straight ahead classical stuff. this ain't so swingin'.
perche ???
Lo pensavo anch'io
wait... where is a conductor? :O
Conductor is Lorenzo Viotti, He is conducting and also playing.
to be honest an orchestra actually does not need a concductor in every piece..
''Personal opinion''
The conductor is keeping time with the drums and he is still queuing people in
👍👍👍☝☝☝👍👍
!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE his playing. But this is awful. It almost feels like he has contempt for ‘jazz’ clarinet. Use your beautiful sound, don’t make it worse and think it’s ‘jazz’.
It really feels like I'm the man, what? Bit of jazz? No problem guv...Er yeah..
problem mate...technique doesn't equal feel and understanding
This really isn’t the way this concerto should be played. Listen to Artie play and then play it that way.
😳
If there is only one way to play a piece, it's not worth it.Here was fun of international cross over, an Austrian, Italian playing with a Turkish orchestra
Totally agree with you Marc awful ….no idea of style not quite
as bad as Martin frost version tho
What is it with these players ??

Simply not their stuff
🤐

Grande controllo, bellissimo suono, bellissimo vibrato e grande musicalità!Bravissimo!!!👏👏👏
You forgot Benny Goodman recorded the Mozart Concerto
