We just saw Maybe Happy Ending on Saturday, Nov 23, and we were blown away by the show’s imagination, humor and emotional punch. We laughed, we cried, we were enchanted. Five stars. We left the theater with big smiles on our faces, bubbling with excitement. More superlatives than any other show in a decade. Thanks for presenting this original and inventive musical.
Honestly, i didnt even know this show existed until a review popped up on my youtube feed. I loved the color palette and the poster got me curious so I googled it. I listened to the song clips and was absolutely blown away. I really hope this blows up, it totally deserves it
I randomly stumbled upon the show in an ad - I thought "oh robots in love, that'll be fun" and bought a ticket. Didn't know my world would be changed by just how fantastic it is. It says it's a story about robots but actually, it's about humans !!
Darren Criss is going to be nominated for a Tony and not only for his physicality. He leads the show with a charisma that is just irresistible. He gives his robot depth, emotion, development that is, like all critics have said, just phenomenal. The reviews for the show and performances have been unanimous and it's well deserved. I've seen this show 4 times now (no judgment haha) and Darren's voice was lovely every time, this is the best he has sounded on broadway.
What a great take on this gem of a show. Everything you say about it is spot on. Kudos! Darren Criss is amazing, Helen J. Shen is a delight, the set and lighting designs are amazing. I too, was shocked to see just 4 performers at the curtain call. This show is so nuanced, seeing it just once is not an option. I'm told, Oliver's cubicle # is Michael Arden's (director) birthday and that there are other Easter eggs in the production. Marketing is tough with a truly original piece like this. Kimberly Akimbo ran for 18 months on Broadway despite also having an identity issue, so hopefully MHE will grow legs to allow more of us to experience this marvel.
@@aptadpamu thank you! You helped answer one of my biggest questions. I’ve been trying to figure out what the cubicle numbers and helperbot passwords are.
I’m not the biggest fan of musical but each song was amazing and the set built was extremely creative for sure.. definitely wondered how much space they had in the back XD
This was the best description of a show I have found on TH-cam. You covered everything; pros and cons, but based on what you say I would definitely want to see it.
I hope Maybe Happy Ending finds an audience. I think it's a wonderful show. In late November, I got a half-price ticket from TKTS. I was happy to see the show at a discounted price, but sad such a lovely show has tickets at TKTS so early in its run. Thanks for the review.
Nearly every new show is available at TKTS, especially during previews. Some never leave TKTS like Moulin Rouge and &Juliet. The good news for MHE is the momentum is building with average ticket prices rising to $107 and 95% capacity last week (ending 12/22). They need to maintain 90%+ capacity and ATP of over $120 to stretch into the Spring season, though.
I’m glad people like this on Broadway! There’s a lot of other Korean musicals that need recognition internationally. Frankenstein and Fan Letter should be on Broadway next. There are some fans working on word of mouth things to get people to see it. As for the robots thing, I looked up videos of previous productions when I first heard about it, but the story doesn’t seem that odd to me.

@@Thefantastic_mrJ thank you for the comment! I cannot wait for a complete cast album. Agreed, it deserves a significant run on Broadway.

@@Stephen_queen no judgement at all! I can’t wait to hopefully see it again ☺️
I've seen it four times as well! And I've got a fifth planned.
We all know Hwaboon is winning best actor.

I'm SO excited to see MHE with my friend next March! 😍

Completely agree about the poster. Missed opportunity.
LOVE THIS SHOW! Congrats to all! SUPERB!

Thank you for watching!
I think the question should be “do you want to see it at least twice before it closes?” Yes, absolutely yes! I’ll bring tissues next time ❤❤
Love this!
I love this show I seen in twice and I love how we are transported into this world soon as it starts.

It’s so sad to me that there are people who never saw and original play.
