@@Dailyproductions-g3n it's a busy city now not just a town on the Gulf with hidden beautiful beaches. When I moved here I was east of I-75, it took over 30 minutes to drive into town which meant to the Publix at fruitville/ beneva road to get food once a month in bulk . Most roads were 2 lanes and there was no real traffic. It's still a beautiful town but nothing like what it used to be and I hear from people that have lived here longer how much more beautiful used to be.
Have lived in Sarasota for many years, Florida for 50 years, and it has many fine qualities of life. You should also know if you are thinking of settling here housing is very expensive, snowbird season makes it heavily congested to the point where if you live on the middle of a barrier island it can take 45 minutes to get on or off the island. Summer months are very hot. There is also unchecked new construction countywide, adding to the congestion. There are tradeoffs to living anywhere, so be aware before you commit.
Snowbird season is going to be a thing of the past as it's already disappearing as more and more people are staying. Even in the summer it's difficult to get over the bridges in a timely manner to the point I no longer go near beaches or places like Mote Marine Aquarium. Traffic is getting out of hand and the loss of nature is just sad.

What an excellent episode! Thank you for putting all this together. So much information! I had to watch twice and I will view it again. I loved seeing Myakka River State Park. Sorry you couldn't climb the suspended walkway, but I'm glad it wasn't totally destroyed and can be fixed. Turtle Beach is by far my favorite, too, but let's tell people it's terrible there, OK? My farther would take me down to the bait shop at midnight pass to fish. Midnight pass rd. was just crushed coral. The bait shop was the only building on the key at the time i think. Everything was sand dunes. In 1950 we moved to Mass. I missed Fla. I retired and moved to St. Pete where i live today. SKY

Great coverage. Moving that way in a few months, but probably 1/2 the house I could have had 3 years ago. Prices are crazy high there. I believe Sarasota County, last year had the highest home appreciation in the whole US. So nice, that a big house isn't as important as a smile with a boat or 3.

For someone who is not familiar with the Keys, if I wanted to go to the bluest tropical snorkeling, white beaches which Key, resort, and time of year do you recommend sir.
@georgehorner1578 Siesta Key is probably not the key you're thinking of. Many Florida islands are referred to as "keys" but are not part of the "Florida Keys," which is a string of islands off the southern most tip of Florida. That is where the clearest water and coral reefs are. There are many great areas to snorkel down there. Check out alligator reef if you really want to see some beautiful water. There are many videos of the location on TH-cam. As for beaches, the Keys (Florida Keys) only offer a few small ones that can be accessed without a boat. That is the one downside of the area. Believe it or not, though, some of the clearest water in Florida is found inland, thanks to our countless freshwater springs. A diver/snorkelers paradise. Just watch out for gators. 😁
@@georgehorner1578 Excellent answer, 321gates. It's a common misconception, due to the name "keys" that the Gulf barrier islands are referring to the Florida Keys. As for the keys mentioned in this video, Siesta Key unquestionably has the whitest sand. Other than the panhandle/Panama City area, it's the whitest sand in Florida; much more so than say Caspersen Beach (also mentioned in this video) which is only several miles to the south and has very dark sand. For snorkeling, unfortunately in a way, the best time of year is summer...the 3 "H"s--hot, humid and hurricane season. Typically, the warmer the water, the clearer it is. Like 321 says, snorkeling trips to the reef, available all the way down the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1) offer far more scenic snorkeling. Speaking of Caspersen Beach, a little south of Sharky's On The Pier (great Island Jambalaya...assuming you like jambalaya!), in the 80s fossilized shark teeth were incredibly abundant and very easy to find. Not so much anymore...I rarely see them these days. Whether you choose the Florida Keys, the Gulf Islands or inland...ENJOY!😎
Great video Randy! Excellent highlights of Siesta and Venice. And you're right, Shelley and Urban Meyer are very personable and friendly! I enjoy your work!

The best thing about growing up on Siesta Key during the entire 60"s and half the 70"s is leaving. My brother still there who remembers when Siesta Drive was a dirt road thru the village. I remember Dino the dinosaur sinclair gas station and pink sidewalks funded by John Ringling the circus magnate. Yay. and hippies were cool. smoked a lot of dope with us kids. did a year at out of door school and met all the rich local kids. it was a blast!
Wow it pretty there. This may be one of my favorite places in Florida that I never been to. Checked rates for October, there are at least a few places you can stay for less than $200. So it can be affordable. I'm sure it's not going to change but a ad every 3 to 4 minutes, that's worse than tv.

Brother can a common single guy come down there and live a basic life in the resorts or beach rental, retail stores, I no it seems like a wierd question, but seriously little garage rental apartments available it’s getting real old up north in these freary no sunshine months, your the man so what can you tell a guy driving down there and starting, thankyou
Just curious but how current is this footage - is this post hurricane Ian? It looks like a pretty great place to stay. Thanks, nicely presented… Wow I see that it IS current - that’s great! I know some of the East coast because my entire immediate family (except for me - I was away at college) moved to Port Charlotte back in ‘73 but in less than a year they re-located to Boca.

I know you're a Florida guy at heart/spirit too, so I know you know, it's in the blood. Blue Mind is real.
I really hope to bump into you and Bailey in Pinellas County one fine day.
Safe travels, happy new year, peace, faith and blessings to you..
- Robert

The best thing about growing up on Siesta Key during the entire 60"s and half the 70"s is leaving. My brother still there who remembers when Siesta Drive was a dirt road thru the village. I remember Dino the dinosaur sinclair gas station and pink sidewalks funded by John Ringling the circus magnate. Yay. and hippies were cool. smoked a lot of dope with us kids. did a year at out of door school and met all the rich local kids. it was a blast!
Yea the good ole days, thanks for sharing
Thank You! Waiting for new video Fort Myers
It might be at end of year
Wow it pretty there. This may be one of my favorite places in Florida that I never been to. Checked rates for October, there are at least a few places you can stay for less than $200. So it can be affordable. I'm sure it's not going to change but a ad every 3 to 4 minutes, that's worse than tv.
Thankyou, yep oct and nov are good to go weather gets cooler but not overly crowded.. Ill check on the ads, shouldnt be every 3-4min
Great video! Thanks!
Thankyou Chris
Great video! Thanks
You are welcome Joel
I just now came across your TH-cam videos and WOW!! Truly amazing. I moved to Sarasota in November and already love it, and this video gave me ideas of what I need to check out next. Also, what song did you use at 16:34? Can’t wait to see more!!
Thankyou Justin for the nice words, that song is "You" by The Invention of Flight, available on MusicBed.com
Another awesome video!!
Thankyou for the nice words
Hope that you make a ton of $$$ Randy. You deserve it for all your hard work.
Thankyou William, I appreciate that, yep income has been improving thanks to all of you.
Siesta Keys beach is #1.

You do an excellent job on all your videos! Is Florida your home state? Have you explored Steinhatchee up towards apalachicola?
Yes FL is hope. I do want to do up north more, at some point Apalachicola area, also want to do Ocala probably in near future
Where’s Bird Key footage….? I was anxious to see it.

And just turned on all notifications. Thought it already was.
Thankyou Smoky Mtn Family
Hi there. Just subscribed to your channel. Great information as I’m actually moving to Venice in March. Question what is the song playing that has the lyrics “Everybody’s swimming in sunshine”? Thank you and great videos!!!
Hi William, welcome to Venice, that is "Swimming In Sunshine" by The Comandeers, available on PremiumBeat.com.
Thank you so much!!
Yes I think so, no it can get expensive near the beach but there are monthly rentals available
Our daughter got married on Nokomis beach, it was beautiful.
Yep I can see how that would be an excellent place for a wedding and maybe a honeymoon as well.
As a local I must point out that Its NOT white sand its "quarts" which is why its cool and soft to the touch.
Just curious but how current is this footage - is this post hurricane Ian? It looks like a pretty great place to stay. Thanks, nicely presented…
Wow I see that it IS current - that’s great! I know some of the East coast because my entire immediate family (except for me - I was away at college) moved to Port Charlotte back in ‘73 but in less than a year they re-located to Boca. So most of my experience is either the East coast or Key West and the keys but the West Coast looks great.
Nice video!
Yep most the damage was Port Charlotte and south
