@@AnglerX same here. He introduced me to the outdoors. Later I introduced him to Canadian fishing and Lake Erie fishing. We caught countless crappie together in Kentucky Lake. My Dad went to Jesus in 2006.
I've never been to Lake Superior, on the other hand, I was able to throw rocks into Lake Michigan from my college dorm. These videos remind me of the locals taking me smelt fishing in the spring. It was like a festival. Fond memories of bonfires, music blaring, dogs playing and plenty of drunks staggering around on those April nights. The smelt fry was pretty tasty!
The smelt run is definitely a social event! I do enjoy a fried smelt but have never been involved in trying to net them. Some smelt made it to the frying pan that I caught fishing through the ice on Lake Superior but I never netted any.
would a coho salmon that big still taste good? i saw he was bleeding a bit so maybe that's why you kept it? I know with bigger walleye and catfish they bigger ones don't taste as good but I'm curious if that salmon still ate good
Nice video!! Enjoy every trip with your Dad. They will be great memories!!
The best gift I've received is being introduced to the outdoors by my father. Hunting and fishing have provided many memories together.

Glad to see you and your dad back out again on the big lake! I've missed these videos this summer!
Trolling on the Lake Superior is a very different way to fish, but I find it very enjoyable and provides good bonding time with my Dad.
@@AnglerX I'm very familiar myself! I've spent lots of time on the water there and 4 weeks as well on Michigan this summer!
Those trips are fun because we don’t get to do it everyday, plus the fish are delicious. Thanks for sharing.
We love eating salmon and catching them is even more enjoyable!
Great video! Yes I agree, not in a hurry to get on the ice😂
Thanks Jesse! Winter is coming. I'll embrace it when it's time.

Bigger salmon are good to eat. Salmon live for a maximum of 4 years. Bigger walleye and catfish are much older.
@@AnglerX thank you for that bit of information, that's awesome to know
@@AnglerX was this caught in the UP?, if you're willing to share
Off of Wisconsin’s south shore
Those cohos this year up there are crazy. We did good out of Corny on them. Nice 23 to 26 inchers
That awesome! Going to give it one more shot before the end of September. Hoping to find some hungry coho!
