Is this the end of the journey for me and the Medeli AKX10?

- The Medeli AKX10 is a keyboard priced around the £550 mark in the UK and on paper looks like an incredible buy for the price, however, playing it for a few weeks now, is this really the star buy I thought it was?

You can't keep comparing AKX10 with Geno's or PSR SX900 as your baseline. It'll never meet any of the expectations. PSR SX600 will be the closest & more meaningful comparison.
But even then the voices and styles aren’t anywhere close.
It's sounds and styles from the 1990's under a user interface that looks modern.
Agreed
Leigh. Your ability to traverse the combinations between styles, sounds, and editing is unmatched when combined with your delivery and presentation. I have had my AKX10 for three months and find it great value until I watched your video and discovered the weaknesses in sounds and styles. I love this unit for gigging and jamming, because there are other players who pick up the slack where the AKX10 falls short. I love your series, and will sign up now and pray that you will provide the commentary on the shortcomings to Medelli. Also, Put me on your order list for the upgrade, because when you explain the shortcomings it has NICE results that we all need. PLEASE. Regards. Ray. Auckland New Zealand
I'm pretty much in your boat also. The sound may not be the greatest, but the ease of use and the functions outway that, especially since I pretty much use it just for my church band. (I use a Hydrasynth Explorer for serious music.)
As you may know, I made a bunch of videos about the AKX10 and sold it at the end.
The main reason is, because the Style Editor is still after plenty of updates not really useful.
To be fair, there are some really good voices, and a lot of not so good. And a bunch of good styles, and a lot of cheesy ones. But if you concentrate on those good ones and tweak them a bit, you‘ll have enough of usable sounds.
If it were as easy to program my own styles as it is on my Korg Pa1000, i think i’d have stayed with it.
But at the end, I don't miss it.
But I just bought for learning purposes the Startone MK-401 (Medeli MK401) for 169€ at thomann… including 1/2 year of Music2Me learning course…. absolutely nobrainer.
if all you have is the pedal sound your lucky the native instrument piano voice has pedal, damper, and string sound and a couple of others i can't remember now but at least i can turn them off or adjust the volume, i have to say though the piano from NI is absolutely amazing. I might add that i also have the Baby Genos )) and combined i am totally satisfied.
Maybe I am too new to this or I have bad taste but I really liked how it did sound
You can avoid the pedal noise for pianos if you play the piano on layer 2 (R2) or (R3) and not layer 1
I've tried this on mine , and it's working.
Thanks
Hi again Leigh … I posted this workaround in a comment to another of your videos. Put your piano sound on R2 instead of R1 and the sound of the sustain pedal will be gone.
If only you could find a fix for all of the other issues.
Lol … well I can’t do anything about the quality of the sounds or styles but if there are other aggravations like the pedal noise I will be glad to research a workaround.
Filter, equalizer and effect, where can I find them on the Medili keyboard?
Hi Leigh! Can the AKX10 play .kar files and display the lyrics on its screen (just like the Korg PA series)? Thanks!
I'm playing a song where going from one part to another one i can't put a drum fill where i want without having to wait for two more extra beats. I'm thinking about using the button to restart the style. Does anyone use that button for those reasons or is there any other reason why that function is there?

I agree with you Leigh, I was hoping for something better. Have you thought about putting all your styles and samples packs on and change the whole thing. You could do the English equivalent of that German company? Or is it just not worth the hassle?
Hi Tony. Just be tried that but the size of the memory is too small to make it have a wide range of good sounds.
I presume it's going to be the end of the journey then. I've enjoyed the videos. I'd never heard one properly analysed.👍👏
@@tcrosslinho5565 if you ever want to try one let me know. It’s sitting here.
I like the pedal sound also, I don't know if anyone has heard some of the videos on TH-cam but some of the Balkin players make this keyboard sound better then a KORG or YAMAHA.
I actually like the peddle sound! To each their own, buddy! It's okay if you don't like it, but I think it's kind of awesome! The way I see it, it sounds like someone walking down the hall stairway in big boots! Play the peddles again and see what happens, then let me know! I mean if it still sounds like someone climbing out of a coffen, I won't judge you, but I'm just giving you my opinion!
Hahahaha
See what I mean? It depends on how you look at it, but I totally get it. Everybody has their own way of looking at how things sound. However, if there's no way to turn that off, I feel sorry for you buddy!
@@matthewmeno5279 Korg can turn it off - Yamaha don’t have this silly sound and no serious synth has it. My Roland fantom doesn’t have this crazy sound.
Yamaha is the bomb! Genos is the absolute greatest of all time! I love it!@@LeighWilbraham
If you put the same piano sounds on R2 or R3 you don't get the pedal noise
What a stupid idea
@@LeighWilbraham I know right
more genos stuff plz
just like any other Chinese product.
