@@EclecticAtrium-fr2js the Bitwig Masterclass does include necessary additions from BW 5, like how the new Browser works. Aside from that the relevant functionalities to work with Bitwig is in the course and it's relevant no matter what version of BW. The course does not break down every single functionality of Bitwig (which would be impossible and IMO not relevant to work efficiently in the DAW), it's rather a course to help you understand Bitwig, and get going working with relevant tools to make music and sounds. Audio Recording / Editing, Midi Recording / Editing etc. And there's song sketch episodes where you get to learn quick workflows to make music. There are over 400 students in the course today so it's been a huge success! 😃
The latest Ableton and BW updates are oddly similar. That said… I’d say Bitwig. But I guess I am biased since I don’t make much music in Ableton these days. Bitwig modulators sold me over from the get go. Hard to go back from the versatile and fast workflow.
Hello Mattias, I'd like to get the pitch of the individual samplers inside the drum machine to be controlled with MPE, do you know if it's possible? I've seen a forum where a guy was talking about inserting an Expression modulator into the sampler and assigning one of the MPE parameters to the sampler's pitch, but I'm not quite sure how to do that...
Hey! First, you prob know this, but with MPE each note is sent on an individual midi channel. So take that into account first. What do you want to achieve with the MPE? what parameter from your midi controller do you want to use to control pitch? After touch / pressure? What midi controller are you using?
I want to swith from FL Studio because it is crashing a bit much with heavy plugins, it has too many popups in their UI and no way to set a negative offset for slow orchestral instruments (to make them tempo synced). I'm a bit torn between Ableton and Bitwig. It looks like Bitwig may be the winner, because I've read it can handle crashes better with isolated processes. If you have never seen Ableton or Bitwig, which of them would you pick if making both orchestral and dance / trance music?
If you don’t compose for video I would choose Bitwig. It works great performance wise. Ive done several orchestral cues in Bitwig. Though I mostly do them in Logic Pro. You are good to go in any of these daws for orchestral composition. What third party orchestral sample libs do you use?
@@MattiasHolmgren Thanks! I've bought too many plugins this year. Some of the better orchestral plugins are Spitfire Originals, Oceania 2 (Performance Samples), Nucleus Full, Damage 2, Zenith (Cinematic Tools), Tom Factory, Kontakt, Amy & Maggie (Musical Sampling), Electric Violin (8dio). For other genres I bought Nexus, Phase Plant, Ovox, Gatekeeper, Spire, Scaler 2, Axe Machina and Halo 2. If you havn't already tried Tom Factory and Zenith (Cinematic Tools) I recommend you to check them out. Better than expected. Why is Bitwig not good for video?
Bitwig is exposing Ableton for showing its age, the workflow looks amazing in comparison. Their price is reasonable in comparison, and I really do think that Bit will show Able how it's supposed to be done, in a very tough DAW market to break into. I really think that they're onto something.
I’m very glad to see how Bitwig is developing and what high-quality updates it comes out with. Thanks to the author of this channel for useful advice and help in mastering modern synthesizers and music production in general. It would be great to see your review of the Falcon 3
I have bitwig studio but I don't have violin as an option, I don't have the full version of the program, do I have to pay for the full version or can I just pay for the violin option or update it somehow? thank you .
Hello Mattias, yes - that was a nice surprise this morning to find the email announcing Bitwig 5.1... as soon as I loaded the DAW, the update prompt popped up and the rest is history. Enjoying this BETA so far! Checked here and knew you would have a showcase up already! Looking forward to more!
Totally awesome update! Happy to see you check in on my channel. Yeah I hadn’t really planned to shoot a second video this day, but then the BW 5.1 email came and I had to jump in and see what’s new. I’ll probably launch a livestream exploring more later. Thanks for supporting! 😃🎸☕️👌
Good evening Mattias I just clicked on your upgrade bitwig affiliate link and it was the same price as if I was going to upgrade it myself i.e NZ $306.21 + $39.94 GST so clicking on your link is exactly the same price by doing it myself is that right ? I have bitwig studio 4.4.10 and I want to upgrade but I honestly feel that NZ 340 ish is a bit steep or is it me I mean that's quite expensive every year isn't it ? I don't know it just sounds a lot maybe it's because it's New Zealand dollars but it just sounds a lot so I'm not quite sure what to do
Yes Bitwig removed our ability to give discount. But buying through the affiliate link give me a small portion of the sale = you support my content and work here on TH-cam so THANKs! 🙏👌😃☕️ If I could I would always give discount, but it is no longer up to me. Using the affiliate link anytime supports my work though!
@@MattiasHolmgren thank you Mattias not a problem but when I think how much I payed for bitwig studio full it was quite a lot for an amateur such as myself someone who doesn't make any money ATM from any music learning the ropes etc and I do honestly think that $360 New Zealand a year to upgrade on top of the original is a bitter pill to swallow considering FL studio free upgrades and acoustica have a good DAW that is actually cheap to start with and pretty neat but it's quite expensive very expensive but I like the look of the new 5.1 but maybe I should wait until I'm actually using on a regular basis we shall see but thanks anyway have a fantastic weekend coming up
It is my opinion only and I know some people disagree but bitwig need some qol updates rather than new devices which are tbh not really a new devices just grid patches and very taxiing on cpu. And new filers and distortions not even included outside of grid architecture. I will be ahead of people who will say that audio quantisation and new mixer is qol update. Well audio quantisation still not working as I can not properly quantise swinged loop and can not automatically swing straight loop. Mixer is welcome addition but bitwig is designed more towards electronic musicians and I don’t know how useful mixer is. Personally I have not used mixer in bitwig ever thanks to left panel. Simply put mixer should not have been number one priority.

Nice update! thanks for showing.
Yeah it’s some sweet new tools in Bitwig 5.1. Gonna explore more in next video / livestream.
Hello Mattias, simple question ; last version of Bitwig or Ableton12 is the more complete?
Thank you

@StephSancia yeah def wait till they run discount. Usually happens during black friday / holiday sales. FL studio is a steal, super worthy!!!
@StephSancia hope to see you in the next live 👍😄☕️🎸
Hi Mattias & everyone, great video as always. Do you or anyone experiece slight delay on Filter+ when modulate the knob eg. from Polymer's ADSR?
the biggest feature for me in 5.1 is tall faders in the mixer.
Its a great addition, yes!
whats the purpose of this daw? basically like a daw for Vital like making synths?
The same purpose as any other daw. To be a tool to ease up your creative process creating sounds and music. 😄🍾🌟

Ssriously not showing the biggest update? Audio quantization. Im unsubscribing
Lol, this is a quick first look… more indepth is coming.😄🥁
Audio quantization is bugged and needs update.
Because maybe it’s not working? Which unfortunately still not as of beta 8…
What a joke.
What is a Joke? 😄🥁
