Salute you brother. I was wondering all along how to install a consumer unit or just wanted to know and got the answer from you 100 percent ha ha. Well done.
@@mattheww3116 so far so good. Not that difficult. Just need to pass the final exam exam at the end of the year in order to finish my studies and enter the industry. All the best.
We flipped it upside down when we did one of these boards so earth bar was on the bottom and then unscrewed the neutral bar and moved it to the right way as you have and connected it up. It gave you alot more room at the top side to dress it all nicely. Good work my man.
I'm not a sparky, but a competent DIY'er. And I thoroughly enjoyed your video. You have a great way about you, a great roll model, if I was starting in the trade, I would love to have you as a tutor
Great content Del. My only real gripe with the Schneider CU is the upper clearance being a little small. If the switchgear/Din rail were to be placed lower down this would be much better. Keep doing what your doing 🙏🏽👍🏽.
The unit looks good however: why is the SPD connected to the neutral bar? (shouldn't it be connected to the ground?) and why are the live and neutrals on the opposite poles on the mains switch?
Great job always nice to watch especially the fault finding vids, also I like how you think of practicality and future proofing your work not all electricians do that 💯.
Have you thought about going into college's to see if you can teach people how to do a install. Because of watching your videos I think you would be great at this cos I've learnt a lot more from watching I no that. Keep up the great videos and good work all the best
Hey Delroy, are you sure you should have used the "Must not be connected to earth" sticker 20:06 hahah.......Im not convinced that equipment with exposed conductive parts connected to earth, aren't allowed in that house, and hopefully you HAVE connected the protective bonding to earth. Unless of course Part 2 shows how you created a faraday cage around the house.
No its not in the regs. The reg states that the board must be constructed of fire resistant material nothing more. Alot of manufacturers have jumped onto this and used it to sell sealing glands grommets etc but the regs don’t call for it.
Very good fuse box with plenty space, only one thing, the stickers and labels writing is too small, I like to watch your job even I’m very busy. Good job Del
Some boards have quickconnect din rails so the bus bar always has a cover in it (don't really like this box, seems big fuss to install and modifications required that shouldn't be needed (cutting the bus bar) , the main switch, bus bar and spd should already be installed
I’ve come across at least 2 times unrelated cable running through consumer units last job had a bunch of them unrelated and had to cut through to the holes with wire cutters to get the board off the wall 😂🥵
I thought for a moment you were installing a small panel heater del 😆😆 see schneider is carrying on using the *9* branding trade mark etc merlin gerin used. Incidentally if any one is interested were the *9* came from it's supposedly the width of the device ie mcb which is 9mm in French measurements
The spd should be a cartridge type (spd power off and just replace the cartridge) shouldn't have to replace take the cover plate off and replace the whole thing be nice if they would use the single slot type so both L + N is inside the same single spd

(Just finished my level 2 electrical course and going for level 3 now)
These type of videos are gold for me. Thanks.
How's level 3 going

All the best.
Excellent demonstration of a really nice product. Watching your work is always a pleasure. Thanks for keeping up such high standards.
Really appreciate the kind words

Good work my man.
I really like your table showing full circuit details. Very good touch Del 👍
Neutral connections on the side, similar to old Hager board's, great for new installation, complete pain for replacement, great demonstration Delroy 👍
That's one of the nicest dist boards i have ever seen. Thanks for the video Delroy.
I'm not a sparky, but a competent DIY'er. And I thoroughly enjoyed your video. You have a great way about you, a great roll model, if I was starting in the trade, I would love to have you as a tutor
Must admit, I am not keen on these boards, I like the idea of flipping the cover over, that's a nice touch
Great content Del. My only real gripe with the Schneider CU is the upper clearance being a little small. If the switchgear/Din rail were to be placed lower down this would be much better. Keep doing what your doing 🙏🏽👍🏽.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
That is one fine looking fuse board, Delroy 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
It’s very nice 👍
That Schneider Consumer Unit looks really good ! Keep up the great content Delroy !
so relaxing to watch these after a long day :)
The unit looks good however: why is the SPD connected to the neutral bar? (shouldn't it be connected to the ground?) and why are the live and neutrals on the opposite poles on the mains switch?
Top job, Top presentation, Top man and that's from a plumber!
All the best and I look forward to more of the same.
You made what was a pile of spaghetti into a well dressed board... nice neat work Delroy 😊😊
sparky to sparky good work Del I wasnt sure how the SPD kit would connect
thanks delroy very clear explanation
What gloves are you wearing? Do you have a link?
Another great tutorial Del... loving your vids and your passion for the job... I wish you were operating in Leicestershire ❤❤
I enjoy Schneider in commercial work but not domestic ,
Great video , I enjoy watching , keep up the good work Del
Thank you 🙏

One of the best videos you've done..
Pukka job👌
Much appreciated sir
Another great intuitive video mate, surpised you don't have a impact driver to make life that little bit easier :)
Thanks mr del appreciate all the content from dre a fellow sparky 👊🏿.hope to reach your level soon.have my 2391-52 coming up very soon😬😅
Well presented😢thanks
Lovely work old chap
Nice job delroy where do u get your work?
Great job del I have few of the Schneider boards great to work lot of room inside for u cables
Much appreciated
Nicely done Delroy as always.

That fuse have lots of space and that is good.
Awesome video. I'm not a fan of those overlapping busbars though. Looks like it's asking for an arcing.
I was thinking the same thing
Great video thanks ⚡️👌
do you not need to seal the cable entries for fire ?
No its not in the regs. The reg states that the board must be constructed of fire resistant material nothing more. Alot of manufacturers have jumped onto this and used it to sell sealing glands grommets etc but the regs don’t call for it.
Del grab some Ressier r2 cutter screws they have self countersink heads
Nice work Del... Great boards to work with...
Cheers Brian
Cool Video , good Work except the Sharp edges in the entry holes (Metal)
I enjoy your videos, I wish you worked in our area (Lincolnshire) 👍
Glad you enjoy the videos
Very good fuse box with plenty space, only one thing, the stickers and labels writing is too small, I like to watch your job even I’m very busy. Good job Del
Neat and tidy Del. Love it!
Thank you MMG
my mates run a wire from the main fuse up behind the board somewhere and his plugs are free he says.
Smart looking board.
Why can't each circuit protection device switch be colour coded as a standard and the busbar supplied insulated ?
Nice Upload. 👍🏿
Cheers

I like the Music!
In the states we just make are own holes if we need to for glands or conduit
Good to know
❤❤ Nice video ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I’ve come across at least 2 times unrelated cable running through consumer units last job had a bunch of them unrelated and had to cut through to the holes with wire cutters to get the board off the wall 😂🥵
That’s a smart and tidy CU installation.
I’d like to see you do a CU install real time, not sped up, no music or talking.
Thanks
Bit sad that mate but whatever floats your boat.
Del the man!👍
Very kind of you!
Nice Del
Thanks Rex
Nice one del 👌👌
Thank you sir
Very tidy 👌
Thank you
Lovely job.
Cheers John

Cool story.
Don’t think they are really 9mm though are they??
That's what a rep told me years ago for merlin gerin but I think they are about 8 and a bit mm
@@adierob1 I think you will find they are more like 18mm if you measure one!
I shall get my coat tim p, I've just measured a Hager breaker I wonder what the 9mm was then,it was about 1990 I seen the rep
A job well done
Much appreciated
what's the tune at 15 min?
Mdf board still ok to use
Any one know how to isolate before connecting meter tails

Great electrical work delroy neat job
Thanks for the kind words
Surely those plastic blanks don’t have any fire rating🤷♂️
Neither do the plastic rcbos that’s why you have a metal lid
They don’t need to the regs don’t call for it.
Ment sheet metal cutters😂
Where do u get yr work frpm?
Don’t like the idea of the lid hinging down. How many people are going to leave the lids down .
Should be metal blanks
Neat
