From the start when it all looked insurmountable, you had a vision. Now, seeing actual rooms without trees and 40 years of rubble, your dream is coming alive. I have enormous admiration for your dedication, and excitement to see what another 12 months will bring.
I’m currently having my bathroom renovated after a small leak. We are going into week 3. So far, the builder has shown up an average of 1.2 days per week. I may invite them to watch your videos to inspire them to get a move on. 😂.
I sit here, an 83 year old granny, wheezing at the speed you are working . I well do the best to see your ending. The chateau smiles in my heart! I remember how hopeless it seemed!
Me too Pat. When he worked mostly alone with a large tree growing to the roof top and the basement half filled with debris and earth, I watched Dan's smiling face as he worked alone, much of the time. I used to think he was partially insane!
I hope Dan has another project simmering in the back of his mind. As much as I am looking forward to seeing the Chateau finished and in all her glory, I will miss the channel and Dan’s easy, unbeat, friendly self if this is it. 😂
Dan you worked so hard struggling by yourself I'm so pleased that your channel grew so much you could now employ help, good on you for your love and passion on making your dream come true,we are blessed with your presence
Dan, In my long life of viewing documents this is the first opportunity to witness a daily document and guidance for us through this enormous feat whilst appreciating the genius of artisans then and now, the Salt of the Earth! Humans being their very best!🍻
When I think of all of the times Nic has cleaned up the outside, and everyone repeatedly cleaning the basement rooms, etc, it makes my whining over Christmas cleanup seem so trivial! Things are looking great!
Fantastic work Dan. I was watching the day you purchased the property & said to myself “no way is this going to happen.” I kept watching and listening to your positive attitude and determination. Fine work Dan, you’ve come a long way baby!
Dan, would love an episode on how you have stayed motivated and what keeps you going through this entire project. I am sure that you have had setbacks to overcome and I would love to hear about how you have overcome them. Also, please speak about your work ethic! Did you always have that? Would also like an episode about the planning that has gone into this entire project, from start to present, and beyond. As well as the benefits of having a team to help you and how that has impacted your motivation, planning, and progress. And now with having hired the Mason and a very new helper! ❤🇨🇦
The order of the work in a rebuild is different than a new build. The roof was top priory. Window and door coverings were next. This is why it costs more and takes longer for a rebuild. This building is worth it! Keep on, keeping on.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more exciting, it gets insane, love the way this is cracking on. Can’t wait for the interior to be done, yeah I know it’s a way off, but the imagination goes into overdrive what will happen there.
Dan all you have to do is look at us with that smile and those eyes🤪. Been a watcher since you were the Gardener . So to all the ladies watching ask him to give us face time! I’m 76 and still like to see you succeed.
Such progress will look lovely when little by little each room is gotten that the walls are pointed in looking more intact and structurally sound. You will have lots of new choice of what each room is going to be. Where the bathrooms are gonna be plumbing electrical! Oh the decisions Dan will be making. We didn’t have a joke for the day. Thank you y’all have a great weekend.❤
It’s coming to life !!! These new bare walls represent a new beginning. I can’t wait to see how you handle the electrical cabling and plumbing. I wish I was on site to help. Such fun!! I’m looking forward to the roof in Spring!!
Wow Dan, you have actual rooms appearing everywhere! This is awesome to be a part of via your videos. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your journey!
From here on this side of the screen, it feels like the bones of the structure are in pretty good shape after all these years of lying in ruin. It's wonderful to watch you work.
I know how hard it is to be the general contractor, do the planning, order supplies and coordinate with the crew. Dan, your doing a great job. And to think your ahead of schedule on the shop walls. Glad you’re using the yellow tube and 😉 trailer.
Excellent progress by you and Brian cleaning up the old plaster and the other two guys just amazing how fast they can clear a room, then finding hidden fireplaces and doorways all covered up. The mason and his crew are really what you’ve needed to start bringing it to the next stage. You get to watch and work with a Pro pointing the stone that will be a real education. Nick gets to play with the big toys today, but so much material really needs to be cleared before it becomes a bigger problem. Have a good weekend Dan, Nick and Brian.
I remember Dan, in the dark, in the cold, on really bad shoes, alone working on his first upper wall. Up all those high ladders with a bucket full of something to repair that wall. It was difficult to watch. But now, yeah, nice watching 😊
Dusty trails through this one and more than a few to come I imagine. Dan says they're pointing next week. Then what? Clean fresh render on the walls of the shops and perhaps on a big comfy room for Dan to take up residence? Fun now to imagine it taking shape. But will be much more exciting to actually see it happen in the weeks ahead.
I think there's a room at Castle Howard that remains as it was after the great fire there after the war and you can see a similar feature , how the builders in the 18th century did the exact same thing ........built using what they had to hand , after all , it was going to be panelled and plastered .
Amazing transformation. I sense that doing the wall stripping is actually the right decision: you guys did the bones and reinforcing to the building before starting putting all stress on walls. Terrific work.
Truly a building site, it's so impressive the progress you are making, and you have a great team working with you. It brings to mind the early days when you were working on your own and often into the night. You are on a huge learning curve and always with a smile and optimism. Great work Dan.🤩
This is crazy, I'm watching this thinking about starting renovations on my pioneer stone cottage of 150 years old. I have to do exactly what you guys are doing. Removing the old lime render, and repointing the stone walls. Watching your channel has given me the confidence to tackle this job. At least my place is only 3 small rooms. LOL 😂😂 Keep up the good work. 👍 🇦🇺 Thanks, ❤ Dan and the team.
Wow! The cleaned off walls look amazing! I can’t help but wonder how many tons of debris Nick has hauled away from the chateau, but I guess he’s happy as long as he can work on the construction equipment. 😂 Good going team!
I look forward to each episode. At first i saw you working on your own and thought it would take many years to get it in a state that it could be lived in. At this pace it will be done within my lifetime. I have a lot of respect for you guys, its hard work.
Dan I would keep the dogs far from the dust being created by sand blasting and plaster removal. My best friend was renovating a bathroom with lots of dust from the plaster removal and her dog ended up with lifelong clogged tear ducts even after surgery by a university eye surgeon. She had to put artificial tear drops in the dogs eye for life. It was all very expensive. If the dog didn’t get the drops they ran the risk of the cornea’s ulcerating. Just a friendly reminder from Texas.
The stonework in the lower level is so beautiful and so is the original brickwork in some of the walls. It might be nice to keep one wall in a sitting room the original brick with a woodstove or a fireplace in that room. I get a cozy feeling is such rooms. You men have worked so hard and it shows it !! Bravo gentlemen !!
For the amount of work you've done, Dan, I'd say any mistakes have been far and few. Your best is definitely good enough!! The momentum is admirable. I'm excited to see every post and they live up to the anticipation! Thank you so much for everything you all give all of us.
Seeing all the rock walls and beams and Wood ceiling exposed is HEAVEN! Also now able to see the rooms in lighting with it closed up and it is stunning..such a beautiful chateau..videos are even better and better..love seeing what's is next!
Things are progressing at a fast pace! Thanks for keeping us entertained this week! Also...it is really great to see you have employed some local French help. Most chateau owners just stick with their expats! Good for you & great for the local economy 👍 See ya Monday😉
The renovation is flying like a bird 🎉 thing's happening quickly with lots of results. Nice one, Dan, the man and his A team Nick and Brian ❤ loved watching see yer Monday ❤ enjoy your weekend Dan x😊
It's all going forward in such big strides now. Fantastic! I'd really love for you to do at least short interviews with all the craftsmen working at the chateau so they get a voice and a face and a name to them with this project. It's bigger than any single one of the people involved, but it's a great document for generations to come, about who the people were and what they contributed.
I think having a short introduction of the individual workers is a great idea. ‘And a wonderful historical marker of people who worked on the renovation.
loving the Momentum, it's really coming together beautifully. I anticipate each and every video and cannot wait for the next have a great weekend and see you Monday!!
So amazing just how far you have come since it was a flower pot. Not sure how I found your channel but I was watching before this project. Thank you for sharing this awesome journey (and at 78 I am learning so much about construction…lolol)
That stone looks so nice after you get it blasted. What a dirty, nasty job. I helped my son take down lath/plaster and old insulation in his house. Only 2 small rooms. We hauled 5000 pounds down the stairs in heavy trash bags. And I thought that was bad. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your videos.
Wonderful Dan The stonemasons are bringing the walls back to beauty, brilliant !!!!!!!!! Brian & Nick completed so.... much work also you to Dan It is just soo....... Wonderful seeing this Chateau come back to life unfolding her as " Cinderella Beauty".
Dan you have certainly attracted some very good staff ,Mick Brian are just such an asset as well as the French guys they all seem to take pride in their work . Then to see the joy on your face you will be in before Christmas 😊

The fireplace that you removed, are you going to rebuild it?
I’m currently having my bathroom renovated after a small leak. We are going into week 3. So far, the builder has shown up an average of 1.2 days per week. I may invite them to watch your videos to inspire them to get a move on. 😂.
@shellyshelly1870 is your contractor working on other josites @the same time? Just curious.
Contractors make me nuts with their schedule !! It will be finished and look beautiful.🇨🇦
I hope you have not paid anything up front! Good luck.
😂
Low bid?

@@PatKnecht Never had a wife, separated from a partner
With all the dust they can't avoid breathing in, I'm surprised they aren't weezing too. 😖🤣
I am 20 years younger than you and I need a nap after every episode!😂
You can just feel that house waking up after years when nobody loved it. It will be lovely with the grounds just as beautiful.
@@carlaklein-tq8cw Carl, I totally agree! But worth it
I just can't help but be amazed that some day that building will be quiet, warm, cozy, furnished, and lived in
I suspect the dogs will be pleased but can you imagine Dan stopping? Me neither 😂
@@ladyjane8855 not until hes a very old man will he "stop"
I hope Dan has another project simmering in the back of his mind. As much as I am looking forward to seeing the Chateau finished and in all her glory, I will miss the channel and Dan’s easy, unbeat, friendly self if this is it. 😂
I so look forward to you every day. I love the progress. I love the camaraderie thank you for sharing.
Dan you worked so hard struggling by yourself I'm so pleased that your channel grew so much you could now employ help, good on you for your love and passion on making your dream come true,we are blessed with your presence
Dan, l'ouvrier qui travaille au sous sol est vraiment un magicien. Dan, the worker who works in the basement, is truly a magician.
Wow , such progress , those French masons are brilliant what a superb job they're making of the basement rooms .
This is such a beautiful chateau. I’m so happy to see it being redone and appreciated again.
Dan, In my long life of viewing documents this is the first opportunity to witness a daily document and guidance for us through this enormous feat whilst appreciating the genius of artisans then and now, the Salt of the Earth! Humans being their very best!🍻
The size of the windows and the sun shining in … wow. These rooms are huge and will be magnificent.
Как-нибудь дождёмся этих времен!!! Бал устроить и чтоб все были в нарядах 19 века!!! 😅😅😅
When I think of all of the times Nic has cleaned up the outside, and everyone repeatedly cleaning the basement rooms, etc, it makes my whining over Christmas cleanup seem so trivial! Things are looking great!
It's fantastic to see you working with such a big crew. Things move that much faster with this kind of manpower. The sandblasted stone is gorgous! ❤
Fantastic work Dan. I was watching the day you purchased the property & said to myself “no way is this going to happen.” I kept watching and listening to your positive attitude and determination. Fine work Dan, you’ve come a long way baby!
He always had Nick and Brian to help without them it would be no were there. Glad he has such great friends
Yep I was wondering too…especially the roofs without cranes.
WOW!! 594 K Subscribers!! Great Job Dan!!

The room looked so different with the stone exposed. It’s going to be absolutely beautiful 🤩
It is just amazing to see the whole building coming back to life!😊❤❤
Dust!! And loads of it. Fantastic! This is real landmark stuff. It means the place is drying out after goodness knows how long.
WOW! Getting close to 600k subs, just amazing. So look forward to these videos. ❤❤❤❤❤
