So good! RIP Harlan. Drove by his house last week and went to Pink's as a personal pilgrimage. Glad to learn Straczynski is the estate executor and will care for his legacy.
The man's psychotic. He's also one of the greatest writers alive today, period. One of the best stories I've ever heard, too, and he tells it magnificently. Harlan's a nut, and we love him for it. Just don't tell him; he might kill you for it.
"Prince Myshkin, and Hold the Relish” (1982) is the sort of vivid thumbnail sketch of LA night-life everyone deserves-provided they can dig the story. As Harlan says: “If anyone ever asks you to sum up what an Ellison story is, with just one example...this is it.” Another Ellison Experiment, this was a story originally intended to be heard, not read. Harlan’s audio version is a tour de force. It was only after hundreds of cassettes had been sold that his readers demanded he put it into print. Here, then, is the essence of the eternal liaison between male and female, related at 120 mph by the Author." - The Essential Harlan Ellison
Guy goes a mile a minute. Liked his audio rendition of "I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream." I listened to it for free here on youtube, Harlan will strangle me for his cut in Hell.

Now HE is one of the best dead writers alive.
@@HansDelbruck53 Gonna miss the bastard.
Harlan had a public reading of this story at Pinks back in 2001. It was amazing.
Thank you from a Harlan Ellison fan.
A brilliant, imaginative mind, ... and a non-stop mouth to go with it.
One of the great characters of the 20th Century and beyond.
I'm a fan of his, & this is GOLD. A crazed, fever - dream torrent of words swarming 10 miles a minute !
& this story was a crazy, whimsical, avant - garde delight. The craziness of this rampant torrent of words brought a smile to my tired old punim.
one of the best Ellison stories
Ellison having a good old time.

A comet the size of Jupiter. Will we ever see his like again? Fat chance, amigo.
To paraphrase Hunter S. Thompson he was one of God's prototypes. A high powered mutant too crazy for mass production.
This reminds me of a Spaulding Gray monologue, but at double speed.
He is an agile mind.
Pleasantly devoid of relish.
How many words does pack into this 11:32 minute gem ? Never even pauses to take a break.
or catch his breath.
2653 words exactly.
Absolutely one of my favorites, despite knowing nothing of Prince Myshkin.
RIP
Idk what’s going on or why I’m here, but I lol’d.
@HerschelMatthews I'm not Harlan Ellison, and I guarantee he will never read this (I'm pretty sure he doesn't even own a computer).
i see where George Carlin stole his personality from now.
