This is exactly what happened to one of my sofa legs, the movers broke it trying to fit the sofa in a narrow doorway, instead of just twisting the legs off, then hid the damage 😂😬
Can't amateurs just use wood glue and nails? Because everyone doesn't have all these nifty tools (nor money for a new sofa). Also, is it necessary to cut the new piece of wood into a triangular shape? As long as it fits in the space and the hole for the t-nut can be put in the right spot?

The triangle makes it easier to attach with screws. Screws will hold much better than nails
