    House (House, M.D.) is an American medical drama television series created by David Shore that originally ran on the Fox network for eight seasons. The series's main character is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), an unconventional, misanthropic medical genius who, despite his dependence on pain medication, leads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey. So just how accurate is House MD? Today Doctor Wagner, a real life emergency physician from Experts React on Gamology will be watching and reacting to the best House MD clips and House pilot episode Everybody Lies season 1 episode 1 for the first time. A real doctor will break down the medical accuracy of House MD and comparing it to his real life experience as a doctor. With Gregory House funny moments and humor there is no shortage of funny medical memes and medical satire. Do you watch House MD full episodes? If you want Dr. Jordan Wagner to continue making this doctor reaction series please give this House MD TV show reaction a like and leave a comment on which TV show you'd like for him to review next.
    At fictional Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey, prickly genius Dr. Gregory House tackles health mysteries as would a medical Sherlock Holmes, all the while playing mind games with colleagues that include his best friend, oncologist James Wilson. House, an acerbic infectious disease specialist, solves medical puzzles with the help of a team of young diagnosticians. Flawless instincts and unconventional thinking help earn House great respect, despite his brutal honesty and antisocial tendencies. Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) often clashes with his fellow physicians, Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), and Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison).

    Many doctors who review HOUSE seem to forget that House is the “last ditch effort” guy. When you’ve been to a dozen other doctors and they can’t figure out what going on, then you get sent to house. The whole show is about looking for Zebras because they assume the horses have already been checked for by the doctors you went to before your file landed on Houses desk.

    I feel like with House it’s easier for me to suspend disbelief purely because narratively, he’s the one people send the cases no one else has figured out how to treat. He jumps straight to zebras because, thematically, other doctors in the hospital should have already ruled out all the horses.
    So basically it’s one of the few medical shows where the creators filled in the nefarious plothole of the doctor doing whatever the hell they want regardless of actual medical protocol. Lol

An officer was doing physical therapy for his leg injury and he felt the doc was pushing him too hard, so he said "It can't be ethical to cause a patient this much pain." To which the Doc responds, "It's unethical to HARM a patient. I can inflict as much PAIN as I like." Still cracks me up to this day.

    Out of curiosity, do doctors have to make Hippocratic oath in United States? Here in finland we use "Doctors oath" that is based on hippocratic and its optional to vow during graduation.

    • @frankiefavero1666
      @frankiefavero1666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, or at least iterations of it. The Physician's Oath was first adopted in 1948, and it is a modern version of the old-school Hippocratic Oath ("I will do no harm..."), which all M.D.'s readout when they qualify. I said "iterations of it" because in the first quarter of 2017, a doctor from New Zealand (where I'm from); Sam Hazledine, submitted an additional paragraph to the World Medical Organisation, which was officially accepted and added to the Physician's Oath in October 2017. Sam was motivated by the high and increasing suicide rates among physicians, so he introduced a paragraph on doctors looking after their own health as well! This reads "I will attend to my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard." I think this is particularly significant worldwide, as doctors (especially Residents and Emergency Medicine ones like Jordan), were often pushed to their human limits (60-80 hours a week!), and sleep deprivation, mental distress, and persistent illness contributed to patient error, malpractice lawsuits, and suicide.

    My fiance started having seizures after being on Zoloft for a few months. She started seeing a Dr to fogure out why why passes out sometimes.. The Dr put her on Zoloft. The passing out did not stop, became more frequent, and began to turn into full body convulsive seizures. The Dr raised the dosage, seizures got worse. Dr was like no way, that's not the zoloft, you need a neurologist. Several months and Dr visits later, she says screw it and quits the zoloft. Over the next week the seizures slow down, the last seizure occurring 5 days after she quit zoloft. She still passes out once in a while, usually only in high stress situations, but ots rare and she doesn't drive or go anywhere alone anyway due to her MASSIVE ANXIETY. But none of the drs around here want to treat her anxiety.

    Here's my suggestion to you: - In one of the seasons, House brought in a pig and used the animal's liver to purify the patient's blood. And it was done. I don’t remember, but in the end they cleared the blood of what “killed” the patient. But, at the same time, in season 4, at the end of Wilson, his girlfriend Amber dies and House says that there is no liver, and there is nothing to purify the blood from the cold drug, like... 🤔 🤔🤔 I remember exactly what he said there ... that it's like a drug binds to proteins. And that this time the liver of a pig will not help??? Can anyone comment? It would be great to hear a constructive answer to this question.

    2:32 I’m allergic to contrast dye. We learned this during a CT angiogram was being done…when it was beginning to circulate my veins, I could _feel_ every twist and turn that dye took. I remember lying there as it felt like my blood was on fire wondering if that was a small taste of what it would be like to go to Hell….Not. A. Fun. Experience 😵❤️‍🔥😮‍💨

    • @danielplatts9446
      @danielplatts9446 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Allergic to iodine most likely. You would probably be fine with a contrast MRI, because it uses Gadolinium. A completely different chemical contrast. Also, if you are allergic to iodine, you may very possibly have a shellfish allergy as well? It's not always the case, but it's something that correlates pretty regularly. That's why when we see a patient chart that has shellfish allergy, we need to confirm before administration of the iodine contrast. Or even topical iodine in some cases.

    • @danielplatts9446
      @danielplatts9446 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also, it's fairly common to feel warmth or cold when the dye enters the bloodstream. If it was painful that's a concern for sure, but did you also have any other reactions? Itching, difficulty breathing, hives or a rash? We're they able to continue the study, or did they have to stop? I'm just curious of the circumstances.

    • @riceracm
      @riceracm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@danielplatts9446 They did finish the test because I have a pretty high pain tolerance and don’t like to complain (I’ve been told I’m the medical and statistical anomaly of everything by several medical professionals because of all the very _rare_ complications/conditions I’ve experienced…for example, I’m one of only like 70 people world-wide that went blind overnight because of Topomax, after stopping the meds my sight came back over the course of the next week, but in the mean time I had to be led around, and see _all_ my neurologists medical students because _of course_ who wouldn’t want to study that 🤷‍♀️)…but anyways, within an hour or so I had hives all over and itchiness….I don’t have a shellfish allergy…the funny thing is I’m not allergic to betadine…🤷‍♀️

    Seizure: also move objects away from the head area. Most likely if a person has a seizure out of no where it’s due to : a change in hormones ( check for pregnancy), drugs (do blue test), or then epilepsy/seizure disorder. From there we are looking at brain tumor at the seizure is a side affect of another condition (starvation, diabetes, etc.) And I’m just talking about grand-mal (old classification) seizures. The reality is treating seizures and many disorders is about guess working. You need to gather limited data and treating epilepsy is often throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks best. If you change something that works you risk destroying your life. And once you got it working, everybody is risk adverse to changing things.

    The thing about House is that he's a medical version of Sherlock Holmes.
    Gregory House = Sherlock Holmes
    Dr. James Wilson = Dr. John Watson
    Lisa Cuddy = Irene Adler
    Vicodin addiction = Cocaine/Morphine addiction
    Both House & Wilson and Holmes & Watson live at a 221B address.
    etc
    etc
    Point is, like Sherlock Holmes, House's mind is almost clairvoyant in its ability to pick up on things and make guesses.
    As brilliant as House is on a conscious intentional level, his instincts are frequently a few steps ahead of him, leading him to do stuff that seems reckless, but ends up working. Answers some part of him had already deduced, but his conscious mind still needed the hard facts to hammer out and articulate the what and why.
    It's a whole series of other brilliant doctors rightfully yelling at him for doing reckless stuff, but he almost always solves every baffling case.

    I work in MRI and this scene makes me so upset. You would never resuscitate a patient on the MRI table. You always take the patient out of the room for safety. Also you don't causually keep cric trays in MRI rooms. There are completely seperate anesthesia carts and tools that are MRI safe that are only brought in the room for that patient.
    Also, doctors don't run the machine us technologist do. I work with a radiologist whom happened to be a rad tech prior to MD (and actually that is helpful) but outside the occasional lost hospitalist doctors are typically not in the MRI room.
    The only time doctors are involved in scans is either very specific protocols (like MGH/Harvard doctors doing research), arthograms, and research outside of protocols.
