Now that I think about it, a lot of people who are new to fps games nowadays are probably more used to playing battle royales due to how mainstream they are. It never occurred to me that the previous competitive fps staple of objective based game modes would be somewhat foreign or at least unusual to newcomers.

Obviously Towa has played other fps’ before but her main competitive fps assumption while playing BFV here is very different to what someone who started playing competitive fps’ in the mid to late 2000’s would assume.

Technically this is Conquest or Domination. Capture the Flag is usually grabbing your enemy's flag from their base (or a central flag) and returning it to yours.

This is me tbh. Battle royale isn't really part of the reason. It's just even a decade ago, capture the flag isn't really a popular type of fps games at the place I live. Most of us only played games like counter strike and it's knockoff. Games like COD and BF is kind of popular too but only for the sp campaign, not multiplayer.

agreed but there are less BF players in comparison with other titles like CS GO and COD a decade ago, it only picked up in popularity since BF4 and BF1 and its popular for the multiplayer. veteran BF players usually plays conquests and dominations, sometimes frontlines/breakthrough. then there are gunmaster and deathmatch here and there which arerare even until now, and the rest of the game modes are usually ignored lol. also BF's single player campaign are mostly shitty (with BF1 as the exception)
