Nothing much seems to have changed, thankfully. I did exactly the same thing, both on Mo'orea and in Papeete and surrounds, just scootering around for a week on a Vespa scooter, back in 1968! I've been back a couple of times in later years, but it's those scooter expeditions I remember most.

That beach is the very spot where I often used to anchor my 8m ketch in the early 70's. This is my favourite spot in Moorea. There was then no road leading to it, and it was as remote as you could be. Sealed road, and now roads everywhere, and car ferrries? The price for progress! Still Moorea remains a pretty island.
G'day folks. I believe the whole film of South Pacific, was filmed on Hawaii. However in the film, when one of the main characters sings " Bali Hai will call you" she points at Moorea in the distance. Which could indicate they filmed from Tahiti for a small segment.? I'm open to correction. What a terrible episode this was. Nah of course not. This is me just being jealous. Yet another fantastic episode. Love the Society Islands. The original location of the typical South Seas dusky maiden. And palm trees 🌴 waving in the trade winds, beautiful beaches, fish in the lagoons, coral reef, coconuts, and.....!!! Meanwhile back here in Nz, it's raining, cold and a long way from where you guys are. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for taking the time to upload. Take care. Atb from down under.

I was wondering how long you have to be gone from French Polynesia before you can go back for another extended stay? You still have lots of exploring to do and we love having you there almost as much as you love being there. Thanks for all of your great adventures.
What a spectacular place! Hope you get to go back there soon! Actually Cooks observation wasn't that successful - they got lots of different times for the transit of Venus, actually they'd discovered that Venus has an atmosphere.... which was useful but could have been done without the journey (which was kept top secret at the time as the improvements in navigation would have had military significance.) Later on in the same voyage he'd bump into a couple of little things of course - New Zealand and Australia!

Merewether’s working a treat. We love her. We’d like to at least sailing into Australia before looking at any other vessel
Sail the world, knowing Moorea is as good as it gets, but try the Marovo Lagoon in the Solomon Islands for exceptional drift diving.
Great advise Rauf. Unfortunately Solomon’s boarders are not open at the moment. We’ll be sure to make a note when they do!

Dale we don’t know 100% for sure but we looked into flights and the cost was too unreasonable
